A lot of Movie Picard was Stewart wanting to be the "man of action" in the films. Since he is much older I imagine he'll be more for re-exploring the character as it was written in the series.
He's told old for that.
yeah and, show has fans, news at eleven, proves literally nothing. It's like Trump pointing out how many people he's got in his crowd honestly, kind of pathetic in a way.
The show is just more popular then you think.
Prove it.
Just look at all the comments on facebook, twitter, Other forums, they're mostly positive.
I'm fairly certain most if not all of those would be discovery centric anyway. someone who doesn't like discovery wouldn't go out of their way to go somewhere that's discovery centric with a few minor exceptions. Personaly though, I thought season 1 of discovery was overall terrible. It did have a few good moments, but still, overall terrible. That isn't to say the acting was bad, it wasn't, the acting was good. the sets were overall good. the visual effects were super hit or miss, and the writing was god aweful. But I don't go around to the official Star Trek social medias to complain, what would be the point, they're full force on Discovery right now, and are looking for positive feedback specifically. That being said. I did watch the whole series, and I watched the mudds episode twice, because I actually did like that one, and I watched the finale twice because it was fun to try and find all the little easter eggs and such. And I would definitly stand in line to get autographs from the actors, who again, overall did a good job. And I AM looking forward to season 2, as it's likely they've learned from their mistakes from season 1, however I'm also a bit wary because they still had a shit ton of problems with the studio and producers and such.

I'm honestly wondering if the new series will do anything with the STO Beta-Canon, since it seems it's going to take place somewhere around 2399, which would set it 10 years before the events of STO 2409-2410
I doubt it. I wouldn't be surprised if there were minor nods to the post-Nemesis novels though.
Considering it's taking place also about 12 years after the Hobus star went supernova destroying Romulus and Remus, it could possibly be partly dealing with the fall of the Romulan Star Empire
I'd hope they tie that in, because quite frankly I very much enjoy what STO did with the Hobus Star going supernova. Though another Klingon war might be a tad well, silly, given Discovery has already blown it's load, still it would be interesting to see the ramifications of Nemesis, personally I'd love to see a Romulan Republic.
I’d be fine if the Borg never show up again.
The Discovery salt continues to be utterly delicious.
It is doing well, but that doesn't make it good (at least for season 1) Also, they kind of got a shit ton of money upfront from their Netflix deal. And locking it behind another paywall in the US gave them more money too. There's also the fact that it's the only current Star Trek show running right now, and so people will watch it regardless of their overall feelings of it.
STO is going to be doing a mission based on a story one of the DSC writers didn't get to tell https://twitter.com/trekonlinegame/status/1026168362462633984 Also we're going to see the real Captain Killy
Let's not devolve discussion into provoking each other based on the success, failure, or each other's opinions of Discovery. It's a controversial show, it does cool things and uncool things, but we don't need to neg each other about it. I'm really excited to explore the Glenn, Cryptic's artists have been given assets and plans of the ships, sets, and props, so this should all be screen accurate barring for any game performance optimizations they have to make. Their new TNG and DS9 content has been awesome. (I really really want some Beyond content though.)

In season two, you are going to see much different designs. You are going to see different houses you haven’t seen before. One of the most important things to us was that at this point in canon, as we head towards the current version of unification, the houses really each grow up on different planets. It is an Empire, it is not just Qo’noS… We have seen six of the great houses in close up in season one. As we move forward into the next season, I promise that we will continue exploring and unpacking and unfolding that infinitely interesting story of what the Klingon culture looks like on a wider level. The house of Mogh's gonna show up whipping around glorious manes of hair.
Different families having different looks really isn't new for the franchise, the members of the House of Duras had the same head ridges, as did Mogh Some Klingons had hair in the DSC comics.
Stargate Universe is a terrible example. It was shut down, along with a few other shows, because MGM literally ran out of money. The only MGM shows that kept running were the ones funded by outside companies.
So I looked up the Numeris numbers for Discovery (they're like the Canadian equivalent of Neilson ratings) http://en.numeris.ca/media-and-events/tv-weekly-top-30 They only have the Top 30 shows, so anything that says "under" means it didn't show up on the list. This also includes recordings watched within 7 days after airing. 1&2: 2.2 3: 1.4 4: Under 974k 5: 1.2 6: 1.3 7: 1.2 8: 1.79 9: 1.1 10: 1.2 11: 1 12: Under 900k 13: 971k 14: 938k 15: Under 927k

Are you sure that's not just a van.
CBS trademarked both 'Star Trek Reliant' and 'Star Trek Destiny' on August 3rd. Both filed under as a TV show. Destiny also got a second trademark for digital media.
"Star Trek Reliant follows the adventures of Khan Noonien Singh, who, after the detonation of the Genesis Device, was transported to a strange parallel universe. The year is 2258, and Khan has his wrath aimed at one target, Commander Michael Burnham."
Ethan Peck cast as Spock https://variety.com/2018/tv/news/star-trek-discovery-spock-1202904311/ https://deadline.com/2018/08/ethan-peck-mr-spock-star-trek-discovery-casting-1202445184/
He has that gravely voice I haven't seen in a Spock (across fan films the new movies) since Nimoy. I'm excited. I hope Quinto works with him as Quinto both worked personally with Nimoy and nailed some of the essences of the character. He also seems a good casting choice visually and audibly for being James Frains' Sarek's son.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLl17YXrAZY Unsure as to how reliable this guy is as a source, but if anything of this video is true its seriously depressing as a massive fan of the old canon.
