She's starting to look like a sleeker Chimera-class.

A threat to end all sentient (should be sapient) life in the galaxy? Are the Reapers coming?
Star Trek has been sentient since forever, it's tradition.
Trump is about to be elected as President of the Federation.
man, I'm actually sad that I didn't like that trailer at all. I'm hoping the season is good. Season 1 had some good moments but was overall.... not that great, and I say that after I even rewatched it on Bluray.
I see there running with the Abrams verse section 31 as well which is disappointing, Section 31 is not a covert ops branch of the federation.
In ENT and DS9 they where simply a few people who where pulling strings to manipulate the federation into making questionable choices.
Across the universe you say? In a show where nobody has gone beyond the galaxy they're in?
INB4 "Captain, we're passing warp 10!"
(Also, TOS: "By Any Other Name")

In the time Discovery takes place they use a different warp scale where is possible to pass warp 10.
Discovery seems to use the TNG Warp Scale.
Or at least the graphics artists do.
Yes, but Discovery has been very poor at keeping its world consistent. They use TOS themed consoles with JJAbrams holograms every where and TNG touch screens. It's a visual mess.
Also they upscaled all the ships which is fucking stupid as the Enterprise in TOS had easily enough room for 300 crew.
"Ira Steven Behr: Hopefully if we ever do reach some approximation of the Gene Roddenberry paradisal 24th century that question would never have to be asked. It seems to me that in order to reach a complete and healthy society we need to do two things:
1. The historical record is broken and needs to be fixed. There’s lots of information floating around, but very little context. The past is no longer even prologue, it’s pretty much ignored.
2. We have to own our mistakes, our failures. Again, it seems to me that unless we recognize and remember our mistakes, embrace them, we are doomed to repeat them over and over and over again. Say hello to the 21st century."
Hit the nail on the head.
Speaking of warp, we did get that neat scene of a shuttle at warp 1 actually taking the right amount of time to get somewhere at 1C.

On the bridge of the sunning USS Enterprise build with producer Alex Kurtzman.
Imagine if Pike gets the plasma shot to his spine or whatever in the first ten minutes of season 2, and has to sit and watch as the discovery crew constantly fucks everything up and ruins his ship, as a metaphor for the audience
Unlikely.
A new BTS video had a shot of an enterprise Spec Screen, and the info was taken right from the TOS tech manual. Like 1:1. It also had straight pylons.
Very odd.
rumor is the enterprise may be getting "damaged" partway during the season and getting a "refit" and end up looking like it did during TOS
I thought the Enterprise was damaged from the start, considering the "distress call" they make at the end of S1.
that would explain the diagram, but not the specs.
I hadn't seen this screencap (I'm dark on trailers and extra material right now).
That is some sexy hull plating. Please refit Discovery, pleeaase. Give me my bright, primary-colored space utopia (without the fart jokes).
I still wish they would restore the neck to its original length, but her fore and aft profiles look much better.
"Endurance" is an interesting figure. It feels like an attempt to squeeze more sense into the "Jim, the Enterprise is twenty years old. We feel her day is over." line from STIII.
Could it mean the amount of time the ship is estimated to function without a visit to Spacedock? Even so, the NX-01 held together for 100 years, so maybe its just a BS stat.
the Endurance label they made up, but the number, 18 Years, comes from the 1970s tech manual for it's 'Standard Range', same with all the other numbers

Here's a perspective corrected version of the DSC screen from King Daniel Beyond over on TrekBBS

So according to the booklet that comes with the Eaglemoss Discovery Enterprise, the front of the bridge dome can switch from transparent to opaque.
The designers did this so they could keep the dome shape of the bridge, but still have a window like the showr unners wanted.
Kind of a focus or stealth mode. I can dig it. You could black out the panoramic window and display a smaller viewscreen that evokes TOS.
Here's the page, posted by a user over on TrekBBS, that got it from a facebook page
