I didn't know that the warp nacelles doubled as cheese graters
it's a design element from one of the versions of the TOS Enterprise. The grill like structure on the back of the nacelles was present in the second pilot "Where no man has gone before"

https://youtu.be/6d4iCa6h29c I can't describe how disappointed I was after watching the season 2 trailer. I had at least a little hope left they'd change direction at least a little bit, but in many ways it looks even worse than season 1 imo. Welp, time to go watch the new Orville episodes I guess.
The Season 2 trailers had like completely different tone from Season 1.
The trailer after the latest Short Trek has an updated scene from an earlier trailer Old: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108621/afc355cf-cce8-4f89-89a1-0fd88c2bceb3/image.png New: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108621/b3db7f2d-7bb4-4e87-a379-47e89167c698/image.png

Comicbook.com and Cnet are both biased as they are owned by CBS.
Just because they're owned by CBS doesn't make them bias. They even said some negative things about it.
Giantbomb is owned by CBS and they always tiptoe around CBS shows when the topic comes up on their internet streams. They do have an influence.
Clearly not enough.
More info on the Picard Show: Picard Series Influenced by TREK ’09 Romulan Disaster | TrekCore.. Clarkson..
It would be pretty funny if Picard retcons the entire Kelvin timeline out of existence.
I don't see how it would, and I don't think Paramount would let them do that. STO's 9th Anniversary is called 'Mirror of Discovery' https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11055623-mirror-of-discovery-launches-january-23rd%21 https://www.mmorpg.com/star-trek-online/news/mirror-of-discovery-is-the-next-star-trek-online-chapter-and-its-coming-january-23rd-1000051117 https://youtu.be/H0IBYb6suK0
TrekMovie Review of Episode 1 Spoiler
Here's a fan-made shot of the Enterprise-A from Star Trek Beyond. https://vimeo.com/237307148 I hope we haven't seen the last of the Kelvin crew. At the very least they ended on a good note.
Season 2 of Discovery premiers on 17/01 in the USA/Canada, heh.

fucking stop
Considering we're getting other more "trek"-like trek shows, I think a Section 31 show will be fine. Especially one with Michelle Yeoh
Especially considering a Section 31 show is something I remember the fanbase talking about almost since its introduction in DS9. The prequel context actually helps because 31's actions can have consequences that morph the universe in ways that we recognize. Or better yet, S31 fails to do so because of the unexpected wholesomeness of humanity in the 23rd Century.
I wonder if John Eaves designed it. He did design the ST5/6 phaser, and he's part of the show's design team. Though AFAIK he only did ships Season 1, no props or sets.

I was hoping they'd change the title sequence more. We need a TNG season 3-type reboot of the title sequence IMO. Interesting that in the title sequence the spore drive and mirror universe are still big themes.
I didn't notice anything about the Mirror Universe in there
The big plant thing Discovery flies by represents the spore drive and the two suited hands touching like the Sistine Chapel ceiling represent the Mirror Universe.
I never considered the hands touching to refer to the Mirror Universe honestly. I honestly had no idea what to think about them. We know the Mycelial Network is still part of the story. The drive is just shut down, at least until they can find a way to use it without a living pilot.
Uh, wasn't it kind of a big thing that using the Mycelial network to travel was actively destroying it?
Travelling wasn't destroying it, it was the experiments that the Terrans were doing to it.
