Solo wasn't shit.
Yeah it was fucking awful. The movie went out of it's way to not be interesting. Solo's actor can't act and the same goes for the game of thrones actress. Most of the movie is as questioning why they even bothered making it if they were going to play it so safe by having everything Han Solo said in the OT by true. You never see Han learn any of his skills in the movie he just he just learns them all off screen. The only good part was the train job and honestly that should have been the ending
You can't be serious.
So basically this

featuring a story about Jizz Band blowing their load at Jabba's casino and getting a gig at the cantina.
Episode 3 was better than TLJ fight me
Solo learns all of this off screen: gambling, flying, shooting, piloting of any sort, speaking wookie and generally anything involving being a scoundrel. The only thing in the movie he actually learns is to not trust people but even then the there's a huge disconnect between his character in solo and his character in A New Hope. It honestly wasn't an origin story move of "Han Solo'd first big job" with all of his character development practically happening off screen or after the movie
That's definitely one of my criticisms for the movie as well, but I don't think it ruins the entire movie
There is nothing wrong with any of this.
"footsoldiers and commandeering warlords."
isn't that exactly what luke is in the original trilogy?
"Han Solo's origin story doesn't need him learning the traits he shows off in the OT but it needs to super safe and be everything we already know"
It was hardly everything we already know.
To be fair, I'm pretty sure in that case that's meant to be the point.
Wars not make one great and all that.
What the fuck is the point of an origin movie then? We already know that he helps Chewie into giving him a life debt, we already know he won the Falcon from Londo and we already know he did the Kessel run the fastest. The movie completely skips him learning several key traits to his character and you're fine with that? Why the fuck would you watch this movie if it's not going to tread new ground at all and just be the safest possible story.
Some of that information only comes from material outside of the movies, casual fans wouldn't know it.
Han doing the Kessel run the fastest, getting the falcon from Londo and Chewie having a life debt to Han is information fans don't know? Really? REALLY?
the Life Debt thing was never said in the movies, so yes. I'm talking casual fans, not people who have read the books or comics.
