Marvel Cinematic Universe thread: Worse numbering than IMs suits edition

Christ, it's not out until the 3rd of August here? damn
I'm not sure if LC S2 beats DD S1, but it comes damn close.
This is what Marvel Netflix should be all the time; no unnecessary drama, no filler; no tie-in transitional bullshit; just good ass story and characterization.
There's still some over-preaching and some heavy handedness, but it doesn't last long and more importantly it doesn't change the direction of the plot (cough JJ, IF).
Good shit.
8.5
Damn, I had no interest in Netflix/Marvel shows after barely sitting though JJ S1 (only because Kilgrave was so great); skipping Iron Fist and thinking The Defenders was a mess - but it seems quite a lot of people liked Luke Cage S2, and I quite liked the first one - I think I might see it
There was pretty much on advertising on this, AND they released it during the summer when this stuff usually tracks way better in the winter.
Man, just finished Luke Cage season two, and it was pretty good, but what is up with the sudden third season crammed into the last episode as a mini-godfather homage? I didn't feel like they sold this at all. Luke outright says to burn the club, and then in the next scene he's running it. Wha-wha? I mean, overall, I don't have a problem with anything that happened, but whole last episode I was just sitting there wondering what was even going on. I think it could've been over at Episode 9 with Bushmaster going to jail and that would've been just fine as an ending. Am I missing something?
His dad's actor's cancer was diagnosed as terminal so they wanted to end on a note where they wouldn't have to bring him back so stuff they were gonna next season was moved around so they can start Luke basically starting from scratch or go straight to heroes for hire
Just saw Ant-Man and the Wasp. Fun movie lol, definitely an MCU movie.
For some reason, I expected Goliath to suit up at one point lol
thankfully not going to make any bee jokes.
Ant-Man and Wasp is solid. Nothing mind blowing, but pretty good overall, especially on the villain side.
Really enjoyed Ant-Man and The Wasp.
The dialogue is really sharp, and since it's not an origin story, the comedy feels a lot more confident this time.
The size changing gimmick doesn't seem to get old, there was some pretty inventive stuff in terms of visual gags and action setpieces.
The drama scenes are surprisingly good too, especially considering the pacing the movie manages to have, props to the composer and editors
Watched Luke Cage S2E1.
God damn you can cut a good ten minutes of filler out by simply removing all the unnecessarily scenes of the bands playing.
as a music person i liked the music
I mean there are spots where it is okay - but in the second episode at the end where Luke is beating that guy up. Did we really have to cut to the band playing almost 10 times?
Read some books.
Well I’ve almost finished season 3 of Agents of Shield and I’ve really enjoyed it so far. The first half of season 1 felt quite weak, but it really picked up after that. I’m hoping to buy the bluray of season 4, but it hasn’t been released in Australia yet. But apparently there’s already a fifth season, and talks of a sixth? Fucking Australia.
In season 2 of Agents of Shield was probably one of the most beautiful moments of character development that I have seen in the MCU. The whole arc of Skye/Daisy and her parents, culminating in that scene where Skye/Daisy’s dad, after the memory wipe, unknowingly asked his own daughter what her name was. And her responding with Daisy. No need for me to explain the significance if you’ve seen season 2.
Holy shit. The first post-credits scene in Antman and the Wasp was fucking insane
Everyone in the feature literally gasped, don't think anyone expected it to be like how it was
Can you spoil it
The Pym family send Scott to the Quantum Realm to do something plot related (long story), he safely reaches the destination, but then loses radio contact with the family - cut to three ash piles where Hank, Hope and Janet used to be
I just realized that considering how Iron Man 3's theme was all about Tonys PTSD from nearly dying in an alien invasion and being in the vacuum of space and shit and how in all the movies since he's been really paranoid about space, the villain should have been Fin Fang Foom.
What a missed opportunity.
anything would had been better than what we got
It was nice to see the armour be able to take a serious beating in Infinity War after 3's suits appeared to be constructed out of wet tissue paper.
I wonder if there's an outtake where he's all "No, I am Captain Marvel" and then he zaps Larson with a lightning bolt
I remember hearing a rumor that Strange astral projected out of his mortal form right before he got dusted, so he's the one to show up and get Scott out of the Quantum Realm.
And speaking of, stupid question, why doesn't Scott just grow back? Isn't that what happened in the first Ant-Man? Or am I misremembering, since I don't think I've watched that since the theater?
If you want to save time don't bother sitting thru until the end of Ant Man because the last stinger is that dumbass ant playing drums.
Although that scene is also accompanied by the ominous drone of the Emergency Alert System due to the chaos caused by the snap. Even though the ant was a weird note to end on, I thought the worldbuilding surrounding it was well worth it.
It sounds like it has more to offer than this

its crazy how many people even to this day ignore this scene exists
So few people know about it, I distinctly remember that my theater didn't play that scene, my group sat through the whole credits specifically waiting for something like this.
So I just remembered something from back when I first watched Black Panther (and Infinity War) in German with my family which completely pulled me out of the movie.
Namely, it's about T'Challa's war cry... You see, the phrase used in the original English version is "Wakanda Forever" which is overall a pretty neutral but still rallying message. I'm fine with this.
What did they decide to use in the German version you ask? "Wakanda über alles". Wakanda above everything else.
Even if the phrase wasn't blatantly associated with the Nazis, it's still a completely out-of-character thing to say for T'Challa at the point in the movie where it appears, and contradicts the entire moral of the first movie. It's a phrase used by nationalists that put their country above all others.
But what really begs the question is why they used the same translation again in Infinity War... Surely I can't be the only one who noticed the problem with it, right?
