Plus they haven't done anything interesting with him since Civil War. I mean, I don't expect anything to be done with him, realistically, but his presence in Infinity War was... Not really impressive? His reveal felt like it was supposed to be a "Oh, SHIT, here he is" moment, but it didn't feel like it. Tony had infinitely more presence and screen-time, and Cap just... Fought. He existed in fight scenes, had one conversation with Ross, and that was that. He was as involved as War-Machine was in previous movies, even less so. I get it, huge cast, it can spread thin. But he's one of the "big two," between Stark and Cap, and he didn't "fulfill" that role.
I think Endgame will probably be Cap's movie. He had less a presence in Infinity War just because there were so many balls to juggle and he was planned to get more spotlight in the sequel. I think the conspiracy theories on this one are a pretty big stretch. Though I do think that both Downey and Evans are out after this one. The only question is who retires, and who dies?
If Marvel has a problem with his views they'd probably just ask him to tone it down.
Yeah but what if he stows away on an alien space ship flying across the galaxy away from the pod of replacement parts? That means the very first time Thanos ripped a piece of the armor off, Stark was done for. Besides, we aren't getting any more Ironman movies. Odds are that we won't even see Ironman fighting anymore in other films either regardless of whether Stark lives or dies in Endgame. Robert Downey Jr isn't going to do this forever even if Disney throws even more money at him. So this is a fair climax of the suits. Yeah, it's probably OP but the "last fight" against Thanos requires an OP suit. I have heard somewhere that Disney plans to give more screen time to those who got little screen time in the last movie, and reduce time for those who got a lot of it. So this will probably focus more on Cap, Widow, and Hulk and less of Thor, Guardians, and Ironman.
"what if iron man doesnt have his armor" well, he's just a man. thats kind of the leiv motiff of marvel. everyone is just everyday people with a twist, the rest is up to them - wich is exactly how they managed to put thanos down to his knees, and the same reason why they missed their chance. if tony doesn't have acess to his armor, chances re he'll figure out a way to still contribute to the cause.
I think Cap will get offed simply because he really doesn't have anything anymore. Tony has Piper and Peter. Cap doesn't have any family or any romantic interests, I think his story has reached a solid conclusion.
Sharon Carter.
Eeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhh they can easily abandon that and have her cry at him dying, if anything. That had no development to be worthwhile.
Literally the only redeeming thing about the Sharon/Cap romance is this gif https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/241798/13037ec6-5139-47b4-851a-091d1395e32d/image.png I don't mind Cap and Sharon getting together but having them make-out literally as they were leaving Peggy's funeral felt gross as fuck.
That's a .png
Why do I get the feeling that they're going to have Cap go back in time and stay with Peggy in the 40s instead of killing him?
They barely used any of that material in the films so much to the extent that the one romantic kiss they shared felt forced as fuck. Which is a damn shame because their relation in the comics is pretty well written.
According to Wikipedia there was suppose to be more in Infinity War but it was cut.
its only natural, we're still not ready as a society for the theatrical relase of 180min-long movies. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/132767/29460241-3610-4737-bd5d-98fae75f8216/image.png
supposedly Endgame may be 3 hrs long
I'm concerned. I loved Infinity War, but that's just because I'm the kind of goober who loves comic book shit. Even I was feeling the length last time around, so I'm wondering if they'll be able to pull it off without it feeling like a bloated, over-indulgent mess. Like, everyone got super hyped a year ago because "DUUUUUDE, THE LAST JEDI IS GONNA BE THE LONGEST STAR WARS EVER!!!" and look how that turned out. Imagine how much of a tragic monkey's paw situation it'd be if Endgame ended up being everything people were happy Infinity War wasn't.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9nca9cktCI I guess I'm not acquainted with Netflix Frank, but does this trailer look really cheesy to anyone else?
I felt like 2h 40 min was not enough time to flesh out all parallel plotlines in Infinity War to be honest. Felt like it was over in no time at all. And I mean, if they want to bring the story of these characters to a satisfying conclusion, then they need to increase the length of the movie accordingly.
Oh absolutely. I've been hearing that Endgame is gonna focus moreso on the characters who didn't get much attention in IW. Like, Infinity War was the Iron Man/Guardians/Spider-Man/Thor movie, whereas Endgame will be Cap/Carol/Hawkeye/Ant-Man/etc, which I think is great; treat these movies like two halves of a whole and it'll all come together smashingly. What I don't want is for the scene where they all finally confront Thanos to look like this: https://youtu.be/TBu-61dHln4 Everyone was freaking out about "how are they gonna pull off Infinity War, there's like 30 main characters", and the movie accomplished it by giving everyone something important-but-separate to do and putting some characters on the bench in favor of others who would be of better use to the story and action. If they actually commit to the basic "40 SUPERHEROES ARE GONNA FIGHT THANOS ALL AT THE SAME TIME" idea for more than a single action scene, the movie will be a bloated clusterfuck.
I think we're definitely going to see everyone do something together, but I can't quite say what at the moment.
Nolan Batman
The only one of those that gets really close to 3 hours is The Dark Knight Rises, and that was easily the slowest one out of all of them. This movie's gonna have a lot of shit in it, so it's gonna be long. I'm just saying they need to be careful with how they pace it out since Infinity War uses every trick in the book to not feel over-stuffed, yet it's still a hefty fuckin' movie. It handles all the shit it's gotta handle so well, it makes you wonder if it wasn't lightening in a bottle. Pulling off something that big once and having it feel well-paced and satisfying is tricky as it is, now they've gotta do it again and better, since this is the real climax. I've got faith in the Russos, but I never got why people always acted so hyped when they hear a Marvel or Star Wars movie is gonna be "the longest one yet". The key to making a movie feel more epic and climactic isn't necessarily "make it bigger"; they're gonna have to earn that runtime if they want it to succeed as anything but a spectacle.
Given the prowess of the writing and thematic/direction team I don't think that's going to be an issue, especially in light of filming being a seamless production block.
I believe they re REALLY aware how money is made. the MCU is a self-contained universe where every movie is good and worth watching, even the bad ones since these also get boosted by the actually good ones thanks to the shared lore between them. After all, its a HUGE RISK investment on their end and they do it hoping it all pays off in the long, looong run.
Gunn.
they fired Gunn in fear that the public outcry agaisnt him put at risk the overall sales of the franchise. Gunn made two of the best MCU movies and even him wasn't free from being burned out if that means that the MCU will sell more tickets.
They were also looking to get the Fox properties and didn't want the Fox investors getting spooked by controversy.
What ever happened with that? Last I heard the third film was postponed and Batista refused to be a part of the MCU with Gunn gone.
thats pretty much where it still is i think, but i read something or other saying adam mckay could take over
It's on indefinite hold right now. With actors and staff threatening to drop the project and the MCU completely, Disney has postponed the project until something can be worked out. It's dead in the water unless something is worked out, since these projects just won't last past two years (and they'll certainly lose a number of actors when the contracts are up in 2022).
