Marvel Cinematic Universe thread: Worse numbering than IMs suits edition

besides spider verse those all seem like bad things
Well I mean, Aquaman (despite a pretty bad script) was a load of fun, showing that DC has moved past the dreariness of the Snyder era without embracing the "haha see we're making fun of it too" territory the MCU dips into on occasion. With any luck, the DCEU will actually start posing a financial (hopefully critical) threat to the MCU, forcing them to innovate beyond the "inoffensively fine action/comedy" pattern they've been so reliant on. Same with Venom; not a very good movie, but between that and Spider-Verse, I'm officially liking what Sony is doing with the Spider-Man brand more than I like what Disney is doing with it, and that's something I never thought I'd say.
Meanwhile I'm just glad Gunn is getting work; Suicide Squad is right up his alley (considering how hard the first one tried and failed to ape his style) and, on principle, I wouldn't be opposed to a Gunn-directed Suicide Squad 2 utterly annihilating Guardians 3 at the box office.
The only thing Disney cares about at this point is money; they've monopolized so much of the entertainment industry in the past few years that nearly half of the highest grossing films of the past decade have been Disney releases. They're very secure financially and have faced literally no real competition on the superhero movie front since they've acquired Marvel, and thus have no reason to innovate. But now we're in a world where a goddamn Aquaman movie made over a billion dollars, they've got to change their game up rather than just saying "oh yeah sure make another Ant-Man I guess" and I'm excited to see what that brings us.

Well, it's not exactly MCU but The Gifted finished last night. Maybe for good? Maybe for the best? It limped along all season on CW-tier drama and kinda tumbled over the finish line at the last second.
I'm a total sucker for cape shit but I honestly couldn't bring myself to keep watching The Gifted, the only thing that show had going for it was some pretty sweet CG for some of the powers.
did I miss a plot point somewhere or did the MCU writers simply forget that Nick Fury faked his death in winter soldier?

Resolved in AoS
What do you mean?
Or the jig was up when he showed up with a helicarrier to save people in Age of Ultron.
A:Endgame LEGO sets pics have shown up
Linked for potential spoilers

If these sets are any indication Endgame will give us everything the last 22 movies gave us combined.
three hours of post credit stingers?
Speaking of post credits (CM END SPOILERS)
It's been pointed out that Age of Ultron feels more like a direct sequel to the first Avengers movie than it feels like the end of phase 2. Whedon basically ignored everything that happened between his two movies - particular in the case of Iron Man 3 and Winter Soldier.
Needless to say, I'm glad Whedon is gone and the Russo Brothers have taken his place.
Is it to much to hope that Cox and Bernthal get to show up in the MCU at some point since the netflix shows are over? They are both so iconic that I hate to think we will never see those incarnations again.
Once the MCU starts to run out of ideas I wouldn't be shocked if the new "GET EXCITED YOU GUYS" thing was suddenly bringing some of the Netflix people back for movies.
Another leaked pic (CM/Endgame SPOILERS)
Her suit looks...darker? I like it.
its the fantastic four!
I can do one better- video (Spoilers)
Out of all the MCU films I've seen, Captain Marvel was definitely one of them lol
Hopefully Secret Invasion could still be a thing after everything that happened in that movie
Saw the movie, spoilers ahead:
The overall story is pretty good, definitely feels like a Phase 1 movie like some people have said. That has to do with it taking place before the heroes we know now exist or are public so it's mostly standalone.
Some of the plot points are pretty predictable, no real surprises or twists. Fury losing his eye turning out to be almost a joke was called months ago.
I do find it interesting that they chose to tie in the Tesseract in the story. This means that chronologically the first 3 movies in the MCU deal with the Tesseract in some fashion (Iron Man 2 implies the Arc reactor is based off of the Tesseract), and the first 5 movies (excluding Incredible Hulk) in the MCU along with Captain Marvel all deal with the Tesseract in some way.
Captain Marvel's powers being the result of exposure to a Tesseract engine explosion seems kinda weird since we've seen it used offensively before, but it may be done this way to tie into Endgame somehow. This means there is an individual, alive or dead or something else that has had direct exposure to the effects of each stone.
I liked that they played the Avengers theme when Fury decided to call the initiative after Captain Marvel's callsign.
There are two credits scenes: a mid credits scene that takes place shortly after Infinity War where the remaining Avengers are monitoring the Snap's effects and notice the pager turning off, ending with Captain Marvel arriving and asking about Fury. I suspect this will be the opening scene of Endgame, or at least one of the first scenes. Her suit doesn't look different here, but her hair does seem longer.
The blue vials you can see in the leaked pic have nothing to do with the super soldier serum, they're apparently some kind of amplifier for the pager.
The end credits scene is Fury's desk with Goose jumping on it and barfing out the Tesseract that it had swallowed earlier (it makes sense in context).
Feige said that Captain Marvel is the most powerful hero, and they really meant it. She's at least as powerful as Thor with Stormbreaker.
The only complaint i've got isn't really related to the movie, but more the theater experience. I had a couple of brats sitting behind me giving a running commentary and occasionally throwing insults. Next time i'll definitely have to ask if an attendant can tell them to be quiet or force them to leave, because it really distracted from the movie.
Yeah good just fuck up multiple Winter Soldier scenes, thank you.
I'll do you one better, it's not working. Sorry.
Captain Marvel was fine, didn't like the third act 6.5/10

Use a dead man's account to advertise, this won't backfire.
Yeah i was surprised when i've seen plenty of mediocre ratings. Granted i don't think it's an incredible movie either but when i watched it... i quite enjoyed it along with the rest of the people at the theatre (only had a kid with his dad speculating\asking what's happening but luckily wasn't too bothersome).
And this is coming from someone who doesn't really care about Captain Marvel in general.
This is actively heinous.
The Disney Shareholders Meeting was today, and Bob Iger shared some footage of Endgame to shareholders, but no video was taken. The scene discription was leaked, however, and I have pasted it below. So click here to die instantly or whatever.
The Avengers Endgame scene they showed was at Avengers HQ, Captain Marvel saying let's go kill Thanos. Nebula says she knows where he is. Rocket says biggest energy surge ever seen on Earth when he used the glove, but it was seen again on another planet shortly after. So that's where Thanos is retiring to. Quick exchange between Steve, Natasha, Bruce, Rhodey, and Carol. Bruce asks what guarantee they have this ends differently. Carol says they have her this time. Rhodey asks where she was because they could have used her before. Carol says a lot of other planets out there need help and they don't have Avengers like Earth has. Thor gets up from sitting quietly in back, walks up to Carol, and summons his axe, which whizzes right past her (she doesn't flinch) into his hand and he says "I like this one." Cut to the Milano, everybody buckled in, Carol in copilot seat. Rocket asks who hasn't been to space, Steve, Rhodey, Natasha raise their hands, and Rocket warns them not to puke in his ship and off they go. Cool refection of stars and space stuff on Steve's eye as we zoom in on him and they warp out of there.
Gonna guess it now, based on speculation I've seen elsewhere: They go fight Thanos and absolutely everyone gets killed except for Tony and Scott, who use some time travel shenanigans to save the day. That might be where the scene of Cap tightening the strap on his shield came from. We might even see some of the deaths from the Infinity Gauntlet comic, like Thanos turning Thor to glass or killing Steve with a backhand.
Well, confirms that the 4chan leak was fake, unsurprisingly. There is zero mention in this leak of Rocket Racoon and co going into space.
Seriously, we go through this every time a big Marvel event movie is coming up. Some attention troll writes a big fanfiction and pretends he's got an inside scoop. When will people stop falling for this shit?
