Only took them ten years but Marvel finally has its first female lead film in the MCU.
I'm still looking forward to the movie, but this trailer isn't doing any favors. I was kind of worried that they might play things super straight, and this is a pretty baseline example of that. I was hoping they'd go more the route of GotG, Ragnarok, and BP and have an actual memorable trailer.
And what an amazingly shit choice out of the selection that they could being putting up there considering her current incarnation is an actual sexist racist fascist.
It's pretty obvious that's not the angle they're going to be working here, but boy oh boy anyone buying a a tie in comic is gonna be in for a big surprise.
This just looks flat. If I didn't know the story already I'd have zero fucking clue what's going on or what I'm supposed to focus on other than "~spunky~ ~fierce~ badass gets mad" when [insert social zeitgeist thing here], which is about as generic a piece as you can put out, the only thing missing was multiple tone drops instead of the three. Maybe they didn't have enough money to do it the entire trailer, which brings the other salient point. This is full trailer, with exactly one shot of the antagonist. Not a good sign.
That's not a reason to financially to support mediocrity, especially when you're getting marginalization exposed and addressed. We could have had She-Hulk dealing with work bullshit, male stereotype bullshit and strength bullshit, instead we have an IW tie in that doesn't seem to have any other identity other than "she's the title character so she's all good on the hero front", when that really really REALLY didn't work for DC and I don't think it'll work for Marvel either this far into the game, and the fact they're releasing in March means they're testing a market piece and trying to set a consumer return bar, not flagpoleing a new breed of hero in a new breed of movie.
Serious Green Lantern vibes, without any of the fun. Imagine a genre piece where DC has the humor and plot advantage.
First female lead MCU film and the main star is as emotive as a cardboard box in the trailer.
Woooo.
Maybe I'm biased because of the Earths Mightiest Heroes cartoon but this has been one of my most anticipated films actually. I know it's not popular opinion but I'm super hyped lol.
I hate the fact that media companies keep making their own streaming services to gouge consumers out of their money, but with content like this and Clone Wars how am I expected to say no?
Elizabeth Olsen is a babe so I look forward to seeing more of her
You know that episode of the Simpsons that spoofed Star Wars Episode I and after the movie played, Comic Book Guy stormed out of the theater, gave a long tangent about how horrible it was then said, "I will only see it three more times!" (implying he would have seen it dozens more had it been good)?
That is pretty much me with Marvel movies at this point.
I don't care how bad it is, or how bad I know it will be. I will still go and see it.
Sadly the most hype part of the trailer for me was seeing Coulson back in a mainline MCU film, prequel or not.
The most hype part of the trailer for me was seeing Coulson "in hair"
Marvel TV series with lesser focused movie characters, high budget and produced by Feige/Marvel Studios?
Jesus Christ it's like marvel went into my dreams
its just a trailer man...
If you make the marketing thrust that this is the next ~important~ step of Marvel based amazingness, you should probably back that up with some Showing instead of the standard tone drops, woom loops and jump cuts while your protagonists says some completely generic shit while wearing the most determinedly constipated face in cinematic history, incidentally the same stuff that your Direct Competition has created for their maudlin trainwrecks that while certainly making some money, didn't do much else.
For all of it's overhype and social guilt based absurdity, Black Panther had a pretty damn solid movie with a great ensemble cast driving it. I've seen three actors capable of doing that, and two of them are 100% built-in gimmes, and the third is onscreen for literally a third of a second. Do you know what this movie's about without going over to the synopsis page? Cause I sure as hell don't.
The best thing about this marketing campaign so far is a cat's butt that isn't even in the trailer.
I'm sort of hoping that Marvel will bring back Coulson with those time-travel shenanigans in Avengers 4, but I'm pretty sure I shouldn't keep my hopes up
The trailer looks better then excepted. [spoiler]I hope she punches annoying kid next[spoiler]

How is Marvel going to absorb Fox’s X-Men franchise? Is Kevin Feige going to oversee everything?
I think it only makes sense. I want to be careful here because of what's been communicated to the Fox folks, but I think they know. It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn't be two Marvels.
So the various Fox owned characters are being worked in. Expect a full reboot.
For someone with basic to none knowledge of the marvel universe other than the mainline characters it feels like marvel is, despite the terrible failure that was selling wonder woman as "an icon" instead of as a character, basically telling everyone "look, she's >>the girl<<.
I mean you can sort of win an argument based on that johanson sucks as an actual actress, but black widow steals the movie every time she's on screen not just because she's <a cute girl> but actually because she's protrayed as a strong, cool character that can rival even a dude like ironman or captain america not by feats of strenght but due to sheer agility and cunning tactics, eventually becoming part of a team based on her own feats.
I'm probably going to watch it at some point and get a bit grumpy at how the media and audiences get sold on the fact that its "a girl hero" rather than "a cool hero". I hope the movie is actually good, the MCU could seriusly use some new blood.
I wouldn’t mind that. The young cast has pretty much served their purpose and at this point it’s pretty weird that they’re playing characters that should have aged years but pretty much look the same age they were in the 60s and 70s.
Only person I will really miss from the X-Men is Hugh Jackman. Everyone else is replaceable for me.
Hopefully they will keep the Deadpool cast and merge them into the MCU
The way they're talking it seems they're going that way.
Not that it would make much sense in terms of preventing audience confusion for casual viewers, but I think Jackman directly expressed interest at some point in also playing the MCU Wolverine if Marvel Studios ever did an XMen film.
They've already said before the deal was done that if they got Xmen there'd be a full reboot.
Wouldn't that conflict with the MCU policy that no actor or actress may play two different characters on screen, since Josh Brolin played both Thanos and Cable?
Daft Punk. There you are. Looks like a very cool poster though.
I assume that wouldn't hold up in the face of $$$ to be made, though there are some exceptions to this that have squeaked through, though mostly it's an actor showing up in a movie for a bit part, then having a larger part on a TV show.
Considering how heavy the Thanos CG is, they could let it slide.
I didn't know they had a rule about that, and besides, Thanos is completely CGI and Josh Brolin uses his natural voice lowered for that character. For Cable he puts some dirt on the tone.
De-aged CGI jackman. this is the only reason they bought FOX.
