just watched the raid: redemption on Netflix, the movie was pretty great with some cool fighting scenes and some tense moments. i would highly recommend watching it if you like cool fighting scenes with some well coordinated martial arts.
it's just as good
Wrong thread but yeah, I watched it as well and it was awesome

goes without saying but get right on the sequel as its even better
Shrink 2nd time watching this. Loved it the first time back when it was on Seeso (lol) but they recently put it on Hulu and I knew I needed to rewatch it. I wish there were more than just the 8 episodes. It's really funny but has plenty of touching and emotional moments as well. Lots of good insight into mental illness and relationships and just life in general. Didn't notice the first time, but you can see the guy in the hood in the background in a bunch of the scenes around Chicago throughout the season. Really creepy foreshadowing for what happens in the final episode. Highly recommend if you're into dramadies.
Hero - Mask on Netflix 4/10 This "Netflix Original" anime is the dictionary definition of boring. The first episodes are kinda interesting with the whole paper mask plot, but that gets quickly thrown out of the window for ten or so more episodes of absolute filler, with an even more boring ending. Lots of clichès, flat characters (the only interesting character was probably Theo and he's a minor character that appears in just a few episodes) You might think, okay but maybe the action scenes are entertaining? Well, the answer is no, they are badly directed with an incredible amount of camera shifts that makes even the most simple action confusing, just for the sake of imitating big blockbuster movies. The animation is decent, but that's it. I wouldn't say that it's horrendously bad, but it's not good either.
Voltron (Netflix) I've loved this series. I think I started it when there were 2 or 3 seasons out and then have quickly binged each season as they've released and it's all been really good. I actually didn't know this latest season was the last one as I was watching it and then in the final episode it's very apparent that it was. It felt really abrupt and also pretty fricken sad with Alura dying. I felt really bad for Keith. And very confused about Pidge's Pinocchio looking robot?Might need more time to accept that that's how it ended, it was a little too strange, abrupt, and sad to be satisfying. Either way, the series as a whole is really good. Kudos to Rhys Darby for being consistently hilarious.
Just want to second this. This scene was incredible, and a fine piece of filmmaking. There was lots of good shots this season of DD.
Narcos: Mexico A very decent season. Does a good job at setting itself apart from the original Narcos, setting up new characters and stories while continuing on the same thread and theme. I don't think it's as good as the other seasons though, mainly because we don't have an icon such as Pablo Escobar in the picture. Felix's story just isn't as insane as that one, although it's still good in its own right. I'm excited to see what happens next, as this first season felt like more of a setup for things to come. Satisfied!
Travelers Season 3 - great season, continues to improve each season. Really wonderful and heart wrenching season overall that delves deep into each character. Really one of the best shows currently on Netflix.
Don't really want to start a whole thread for this but I thought I'd recommend the Raised By TV podcast. It's been one of my favorites of 2018, and especially the latest free episode where they have Billy West on as a guest. If you don't know, he's Fry and like half the other voices on Futurama, Stimpy, Doug, tons of stuff. Pretty fascinating and fun to hear him do all the voices. One Foot On A Banana Peel (w/ Billy West), episode #40 of Raised..
I love anything with Billy West, his interviews on The Nerdist are fascinating.
Castle Rock Quite good. Rarely does a TV show hold my attention like this. Was very reminiscent of shows like Lost and Twin Peaks. Well worth a watch.
Van Helsing is a surprisingly good show. Cut past some of the cheese and it's basically a much better version of The Walking Dead. The deaths actually can catch you off-guard and there are some dumb plot-shield moments but it's a fun show with a surprising amount of twists and depth. I am getting tired of the cliffhanger endings tho
I've been watching the Watership Down Netflix Original, and I have to say, it's pretty solid. Animation is pretty jank at times, but sotry is pretty good. 7/10. Oddly enough, it feels a LOT like War of the Servers, which is a great fucking feeling.
I finished the season today. It's a solid show but the tension which is what I appreciate the most about this series was the lowest of them all. Maybe I remember the older seasons differently but in those the main bad guys always seemed they are in control of the operations. Felix for being the guy in charge didn't seem like it. He constantly visited more powerful people or was in his office. One of the themes of this season is clearly how everyone above him just use him but even in the scenes were he's supposed to be in power I just didn't feel like he's the guy to fear/respect.
Blinded By The Lights The only trailer i found with english subs is on vimeo. It's on HBO GO and i don't know if you can watch it yet outside of Poland. But i really recommend checking this out if you can, It's a really good crime drama with brutal, dark themes and a lot of graphic scenes. The only cons i can think of are the "artistic" scenes which can be really hard to understand at first. Also the main actor isn't really an actor, It's his first big appearance and it shows.
travelers 8/10 just binged all 3 seasons the past couple of days. one of the few tv shows nowadays to make me do that. very interesting concept with some great moments dealing with the consequences, and substantial amount of questions, that comes with time travel.
Escape at Dannemora was great. I liked how slowly it set things up then went out with a bang. Solid acting and camera work.
Just watched the final episode of Adventure Time. Seems like forever ago someone sent me a link to that original pilot thing on youtube before it became a cartoon network show. Overall probably one of the best "kids" shows I've ever watched. Some of the middle seasons got too weird for me but the last 3 or 4 were great. And the finale was really good too, very satisfying. Sad it's over.
Daredevil (Marvel-Netflix, Erik Oleson, Third season, 2018) - 9/10 This is the first TV series I've watched after a long hyatus from the whole genre. It's worth mentioning that, beside the fact the whole Marvel-Netflix collaboration is now a sinking ship, I basically completely gave up on these series after my issues with Jessica Jones (first season), The Punisher (first season) and, to a lesser degree, the second season of Daredevil itself. Amusingly enough, this third season is completely separated from both the second and The Defenders. Barring some adjustements and additional info, you may as well jump from the first season to this one without missing anything of importance or having troubles understanding what's going on. Long story short, this season was really a blast, to the point I consider it even higher than the first one, which is a favorite of mine. I think the main reason is that, instead of focusing on lame ninja immortals wannabe and Elektra "I'm an anti-heroine, I swear!" Nachos, this season went back to a more gruesome and realistic narrative with powerful and manipulating criminals and scaringly beliveable examples of pysocpathy from both the heroes and the villains. Indeed, Vincent D'Onofrio and Wilson Bethel were the best things of the season for this very reason, among others. I have next to nothing to pick on about the season. The "major" one would be that, for a series which main aesop are "Believe in the system and don't take justice into your own hands" and "Killing never solves anything but actually makesthings worse", towards the end the villains are so powerful and their reach so damn long that the heroes victory was mainly achieved by making both Kingpin and Vanessa Marianna (who's apparently heartless now) stupidly evil for anything to work out in the end, which kind defies the whole point, I think. And yes, some damn good fistfights in there
True Detective S3.01 “The Great War and Modern Memory” & S3.02 “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye” ”Return to form” is probably gonna get thrown around a lot when it comes to this season, cause these first two episodes are probably the strongest the show has been since the first season. As it stands, it’s about 50% it’s own thing and 50% season 1 rehash, but honestly I’m kind of happy about that, because the new elements are a perfect compliment and are done super well. Mahershala Ali’s great, Stephen Dorff is pretty good, even though they don’t quite have the same chemistry as McConaughey and Harrelson. That said, they feel like cops out of a James Ellroy novel (much more so than the Ellroy novel ripoff that was season 2). I really can’t wait to see where this season ends up. It’s shaping up to be something great.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel - really funny show, surprised me greatly. It's not a "girl" show like it may seem in the picture or title, it's genuinely really funny and has great characters 10/10
Just finished The Last Kingdom S3. It was good but it felt like it dragged the drama with some characters a little too much. But, it was also very emotional for some characters and went through a lot so it was pretty good near the end.
Lodge 49 They added this to Hulu the other day and just from the picture and description I went in expecting something very supernatural and I dunno. Otherworldly maybe. Instead it's more of a slow burn and you go through a few episodes and think "Where is this going?" But I enjoyed the journey. Really good characters and writing. The real fun stuff starts when Bruce Campbell as Captain shows up. And then it ends with quite a few questions and cliffhangers, I was glad to find that it did get renewed for a 2nd season. Maybe not as good as other AMC shows but still high quality stuff, I think people here would enjoy it.
I'm taking some time to watch a western animation series I meant to discover for a long time: The Legend of Korra. I somehow enjoyed the original series, but the sequel series interest me mainly for the setting and, I'll not even try to sugar coat this, the steampunk elements. I'll judge it once I'll have seen all the four seasons, but for the time being I'll say that the issues a lot of people have with the first season are genuine. The fact said season is kinda short for such genre (only 12 episodes) didn't even bother me that much, but the pacing isn't exactly top notch and far too much screen time is dedicated to a rather odd and eyes-rolling love quadrilateral and much less to the setting, the main villain and the interesting themes at play. Also, saying that the very final episode of season one features a lot of rapid-fire ass pulls would be a massive understatement
sex education on netflix is a really good coming of age series with three dimensional, fleshed out characters. check it out maynn
I love the villains in Korra, they are pretty interesting all around, as compared to "I'm evil, kill and conquer" from the first series.
American Horror Story episode one. The only horror in this is in the word horrible. It's to horror what CSI is to crime thrillers. Just awful.
