One thing I really liked was that it was more grainy, like it was shot on film the way BB appears to be. In contrast, Saul is filmed digitally and has very little grain.
Vince Gilligan said they shot that scene on film specifically to make it feel even more like Breaking Bad.
It was also shot on film as opposed to digital like the rest of the series.
Jimmy was never going to please Chuck
The only way Jimmy could ever please Chuck was by staying his subordinate in every possible way. Chuck was even more selfish than Jimmy, really.
I love seeing the Mike/Gus scenes where Mike accounts for all of the minutae.
God... Every scene of crooked Jimmy is so awesome... I love this entire show but I live for moments like the end of tonight's episode
That ending was so fucking cathartic, but also terrifying.
[Cue "this is when he became Saul Goodman" jokes]
Yeah, if you look closely one of the files being printed is dated for January 2004
Kim's disappointment in Jimmy was heart-wrenching
maan Huel got old
This has been my favourite episode of the season. Between the time jump, Jimmy becoming more of a scumbag, Kim and Jimmy visibly growing apart, an almost paralysed Hector still being a dick to see some ass, the added detail of Gus choosing to keep him a prisoner in his own body, and all of Huell's scenes (even when off camera) being pure gold, it's certainly given us a lot to chew on.
I'm rewatching breaking bad season 1 at the moment at there's a montage of Jesse selling meth, and one of the locations is the hot dog place. the very next scene he returns to walk and gives him a prepaid cellphone. i think saul timeline has already caught up with BB.
Eh? Jimmy got the prepaid cellphone underworld rolling but we're still over 4 years behind the start of Breaking Bad.
well i don't know what the years were and whether they lined up. but that's what happened in BB. jesse is at the dog house, then immediately hands walt a pre-paid phone. that's gotta be intentional
It’s certainly possible, especially when you consider that Jesse knew Saul, but there’s still four years to go before the events of Breaking Bad.
hmm interesting turn they took. Seems likely now that they will (kim mostly) will get caught.
Ya when she said [sp] "let's do it again" I thought that's how they're gonna get caught. Also Eduardo Salamanca strikes me as someone who can be utterly terrifying [/so]
Have y'all donated yet for our good boy Huell? Free Will Baptist Church
There's a phone number for the pastor. Has anyone called yet?
Oh cool, the donations go right to a food bank. Goes to the pastor’s voicemail. It’s exactly what you’d expect
Why must nice German man address Mike as Michael in nearly every sentence? The end of the episode makes me hope for more Nacho. Sometimes he feels like a major character in a minor role. It's cool how the hierarchy has switched from last time, with Nacho now in Hector's old seat and Krazy-8 in Nacho/Tuco's role. It's a nice touch to see such a minor character being slowly corrupted, and it puts into perspective just how much of the meth trade Gus had control of. There was no Eduardo in Breaking Bad so maybe conflict with him is why Nacho seemingly disappears?
Guz definitely feels much more powerful in BCS than in BB
We're on episode 8 now, so two more weeks.
W H Y is Kim so amazing.. ...And H O W did Jimmy fuck it all up??? That phone bit had me rolling, the second the DA assistant reached the first voicemail it clicked. Outstanding gag there.
of course they had to use comic sans, of course.
Didn't they do something like this before? There was a website knocking around for Saul's lawyer services iirc
I only remember the Walter White page.
Tonight's episode is slightly longer, I think.
