It's been a mystery as to who killed Jonas and how until now. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is The Monarch asking the council if they knew who killed him during his trial.
"Kano, did you kill Jonas?" "... Ah, you're a mute again"
I think now, the great man is Monarch's father/Blue Morpho, after all, Jonas Sr. is a fucking bastard. So far, all the episodes have been holy shit tier.
Can't really blame him for going mute. After all they did drop Jonas while putting him into PROBLEM(albeit it was Rusty's fault for leaving his toy inside it).
He went mute after snapping Venturions neck, so Brock was actually close God, Jonas was a dick. Sleeping with his friends wife (albiet he had permission) but then blackmailing him and much later trying to get Billy Quizboy to transplant his head into Vendatta. It was rather sweet to see Morpho-Vendata give his son a proud fathers smile before he passed though, almost like he knew what he was up to a limited extent and is proud of him. Or... maybe I'm looking too deep into that.
I meant going mute as in he didn't want to talk about what happened to Jonas. Also it hasn't (yet) been proven that Jonas slept with Morpho's wife.
Well I have no idea how else you could spin it! Morpho coulden't pregnate his wife, he took Jonas up on the fact that he had some "advanced super science" techniques, there's the photo with her facing Jonas as Morph has his hand on her stomach/rump... Really it all comes together
I mean, he IS a supervillain. But I've seen some other really excellent theories suggesting that it was either a young Bud Manstrong or Jonas himself. The idea being that Jonas supposedly popped in Sharky's Machine and left Vendata holding the orgy tape. So instead of opening the bay doors, Vendata just switched the tapes and the sex tape started playing at Movie Night. Things got a bit too hot and heavy for Manstrong, who snuck off to the control room to rub one out. While doing so, he got spooked by Red Death (i.e. "Phantom Spaceman") and accidentally pulled the door switch. The show's no stranger to characters who repress traumatic memories between Rusty and the Monarch, and it would explain why he's so uncomfortable with sexuality (and why he opens the doors on Brock in Careers in Science). Alternatively, Vendata switched the tapes and Jonas himself pulled the switch. He couldn't risk his squeaky-clean image getting destroyed and already knew that Vendata was on-board and in the control room, making for a perfect scape-goat. He also knew that Team Venture was running late and would miss the action but arrive soon enough to recover his body. And he also knew that the depths of space proved no threat to him, since the PROBLEM could essentially bring him back from anything. The only thing he didn't count on was Action Man and Col Gentleman slipping on one of Rusty's cowboys and shattering everything but his head. I absolutely love the mysteries in this show, it's all so tightly written despite being made almost entirely of retcons.
Unicorn In Captivity is definitely ramping up new plot threads while still being funny. I was worried they might run out of steam after the Blue Morpho arc but now the fucking Illuminati and a darker tone are intriguing.
oh no he says it pretty clearly in the flashback dr venture sr very clearly is the monach's father based on the morpho's anger in the flashback
Sadly, it makes too much sense with it being a simulation in the outro, which was disappointing as all hell. No disrespect to Dr. Ms. The Monarch, she's great but if that was really her … well that makes little sense. Like no disrespect to DMTM but she can't keep a secret. Before a cop told the Council and OSI members to clear off for the parade, she was about to blurt out "That's impossible! That would make him my husbands father!". The whole episode was great until the outro at the very end... I just think they wrote themselves into a corner BUT I HAVE GOOD NEWS GUESS WHAT HIT SHOW HAS BEEN RENEWED FOR AN 8TH SEASON!
Who here Shirt Club? So far I've only gotten the OSI Aggression Envoy one, and I kinda regret not picking up the PROBLEM light one. Feels like a huge missed opportunity that they went with the fake Illuminati logo for this episode, and not Presto-Change-o's face, as if he'd changed into a tee shirt.
Wow hunter's crazy ramblings of a secret society that runs the world are completely, oh what's this dart in my neck...
Hamill was both Presto-Change-o and the main Illuminati guy, but considering every member of the Illuminati within the simulation was someone Rusty'd encountered before (Roy Brisby, General Manhours, and the Mexican professor from the first episode), there's a good chance there's a Mark Hamill character wandering about somewhere. Here's hoping they get him again, he's like Patton, just a match made in heaven for the show.
I love how Presto held up brock by turning into a stair master then brock just stabbed him in the face.
I think they wrote themselves into a corner with Hank and Dean's mom Okay, so it's not Myra as everyone thought. Fair enough! But.. This still makes no sense. First some genetics. Because Hank is a blonde and Rusty is red/brownheaded, Hank/dean's mom must be blonde because blonde hair is recessive. We'll fudge genetics a bit for the sake of it, but this widdles things down. Well, maybe it's like, someone new! Okay, probably, the only other blonde female we've seen is Leslie Cohen from all the way back in like the fourth episode... but then why did Dr. Killingers Oni bring Rusty and Dr.O to that motel in I know why the caged bird kills? They'll probably retcon it as Hank/Deans mom being in that motel but... eh...
so this season is a mixed bag for me. I think its clear they meant for episodes 1-3 to be part of season 6 or 1-2 at least with 3 being the season opener, but we know they sort of screwed up and didn't realize the gargantua 2 special counted against season 6's episode count. so in a way we were robbed of 3 episodes for them to expand on the characters, but on the other hand this season felt like a return to form now that the ventures have settled into New York , and the monarch is on a less murderous path to villainy greatness. I would have loves to see more of 21 (now number 2, does he have to loose an eye for that promotion?) because he sort of took a beating last season murdering everybody and it showed this season some. besides brock I think he has the highest body count on the show. dr ms the monarch got a lot of screen time finally which was great dean seemed like he was gonna go somewhere but fell out of the season pretty fast, same with hank really, though they seem to have teed him up for next season. overall it was a great season. Not really anything big after the opener but more like season 4 or 5 which sailed along after major shakeups to the show. I'd also love to see more of Orpheus, especially since we haven't really seen him for 2 seasons and now he's living in dr strange's house which is too on the nose of a reference.
THE VENTURE BROS WILL RETURN hopefully it won't take 2-3 years to make another season though.
I saw someone speculate that they were gonna alternate Venture Bros and Rick and Morty each year, and that honestly seems like a fairly safe bet, considering the time it takes to make a new season of each. I think it's safe to say that this season definitely improved 6 retroactively; if the first three episodes closed out the last season the way they were supposed to, the way 6 ended wouldn't have felt nearly as flaccid. We got a good amount of lore and character stuff, along with a finale that actually felt like a "oh shit where are they gonna go with this next season" finale. Only thing that was mediocre was the Shirt Club this season, I only got the OSI Aggression Envoy one, the rest were pretty meh.
not sure why i expected anything other than "I AM THE BAT"
It was pretty spot-on, really: https://youtu.be/G4YcCF8uLiI
it will.
Thank fuck those two madmen have retained 100% of the rights to the show, rather than selling it to Adult Swim. Knowing how Lazzo and pals operate, Doc and Jackson woulda been shitcanned years ago and the Venture Bros would have either been cancelled or force to go full Zombie Simpsons. If Adult Swim is ever sick of their deadline bullshit, they can literally just pick up everything and go to Comedy Central or Netflix, who I think they've already gotten offers to jump ship from. They've got Cartoon Network by the balls and that's the only way to make a television show that turns out as lovingly crafted as this.
If I'm going to be fair about the quality of the actual animation, it is great and clear that a lot of thought, time and money was put into animating it. I heard that the show is digitally hand drawn, which would explain why each season takes so goddamn long
*raised eyebrow* Being personal friends with Crofford and Lazzo probably helps.
put that eyebrow down! digital art is still hand drawing. using a computer and a tablet aint letting the computer draw for you
