fullmetal alchemist 2003 - 8/10
the last third of the series is much more darker than the manga/brotherhood but overall i feel like it's one of those animes that got "anime-only story" right.
fma conquerer of shamballa - 7/10
the actual ending to fma 2003. fma 2003 ended real bittersweet and somehow this movie ended up being even more bittersweet than the series end.
My only complaint about both Fullmetal Alchemist and Brotherhood is that they have a tad too much slapstick comedy for me. Every now and again it just feels out of place. It's a minor complaint.
But all of it is pretty fantastic.
Yeah I kinda feel the same but that's pretty true to the manga though. If they kept it completely action/drama, people would then complain that they weren't true to the source/changed too much (even more than both series have already).
Desert Punk is surprisingly alright, despite being made by Gonzo.
hey, gonzo's made good shows, like... uhh
The pinicle of visual storytelling, Witchblade.

why i can't find new kakegurui s2 w eng subs? where do i watch that
They made original Hellsing Anime for what it's worth. That had good soundtrack, some interesting characters I sorta wished made it into OVAs, and absolute disregard for source material because it didn't exist beyond volume 3.
Its up on the usual completely and totally legit site that sounds like a cat
You don't since nobody is releasing subs for it, again.
Witchblade is dumb fun.
Gonzo has released some decent stuff, they're just not the powerhouse like Madhouse of Production I.G.
The guy who subbed season 1 (or was at least involved with it) died recently.
So you can either re-time the normie subs, or wait until the heat death of the universe for netflix to release it, long after everybody has stopped caring.
Gonzo is one of those studios where they made a lot more good shows than you thought when you look at their whole lineup.
what are the normie subs?
Finally watched Kuuchuu Buranko/Trapeze. Fantastic show, if I had one criticism it's that episode nine is a pretty weak episode with an unsatisfying conclusion, and it's wedged between the comedic and emotional high points of the show. Overall it's a show that has its strongest moments in the middle once its had time to build up its routine and continuity which it then has a lot of fun with.
high score girl is so weird, the animation is super choppy but sometimes camera pans are extremely smooth and are the game screens in 60fps? im confused
They're subs released by some random dude with no proofreading skills.
isnt that because low-framerate animation is done within a high framerate comp so that camera work and other things that need to be fluid are still fluid but the character animations just use frame dupes to fill in the gaps? thats pretty standard
Pretty sure you can't watch it anywhere for the time being. There are some trash subs around but they aren't worth it imo.
Just watched Welcome to the NHK all the way through in like 3 days and it destroyed me emotionally. Felt like it was who I could have been if I hadn't made a few different choices and ended up on a better path.
anime rarely go over 20fps though, and it seems that this one does
even the usually-smooth stuff looks smoother (in a jarring way in this case, given how low framerate character motion is)
So... is the weeb thing terminal if you're thinking of diving into the whole Mahou Shoujo thing?
Its terminal if you're considering.
Also which one are you interested in?
abandon all illusions of masculinity
Also, depends entirely on which magical girl show you're thinking of. If it's something like Symphogear or Nanoha you can probably get away with it, but if it's Precure you're dead ass a big old weeb who doesn't give a fuck.
Zombieland Saga dub is fantastic

Just watch Sailor Moon and use nostalgia as an excuse. Choose the best girl carefully.
I watched Mahou Madoka back in the day when it made massive waves, revolutionary girl something something and that's it. I'm practically a Mahou Shoujo virgin. If I can be cheeky and ask for some recommendations I'd list the following criteria.
Ridiculous production quality
quasi lewd transformation scenes
Cute girls made to do horrible things
Already planning to watch Re: Cutey Honey, a show I know nothing about but I really dig the early 00's anime style, makes me nostalgic as fuck.
Nanoha ticks those boxes with flying colors.
wow can't believe I forgot to mention this one but I'm pretty sure I've seen the first movie of Nanoha,, it's the one where the staff has this god awful english female voice isn't it?
If your criteria are dark, lewd and good production values you're looking into the wrong genre lmao. Most magical girl shows these days try to ride on the coat-tails of Madoka by giving everything an edgy spin but in reality they're just lame as hell, usually they have shit production too because they're trying to cash in on Madoka's popularity.
Symphogear is kinda edgy and lewd sometimes, but it's also just an action show that gets increasingly better looking with each season. The first season looks like fucking ass though before that mad
IDOL CONCERT and yuri money came in. The subtitle of the third season is "believe in justice and have a determination to fist," which is a better summary than anybody can give as to what it's actually
about.
If you're looking for production values toei is the only studio that gives a singular fuck about magical girls via Pretty Cure, but it's also a show for actual girls so be prepared to abandon that foolish
masculinity to enjoy it. (Before regaining it when something incredibly manly happens, which is surprisingly often.) And also to endure them shilling toys to impressionable children. It's a weekly toy
ad show so each one is like 50 episodes long? Fuck my ass. A lot of people don't have the patience for it. There are only two direct sequels anyway.
Lyrical Nanoha and Cardcaptor Sakura are ones that will always get suggested and I haven't seen them yet.
Nanoha definitely only ticks one of those boxes at the best of times outside of the movies.
