Theres also Fate/kaleid liner but the production value doesn't really reach ridiculous level. Princess Tutu's an older one but it's also quite unique among magical girl shows
Speaking of magical girls, did that sequel to Cardcaptor Sakura manage to hold anyone's attention? I tried reading the manga but it completely left my mind.
I find the anime to be really bland and boring. There aren't much progress and very little character development either. I feel like the manga did a better job on pacing and later parts are more interesting.
I don't know what show you were watching but Prisma Illya's production values are consistently really high.
maybe it's just me but I feel like the production value for Prisma Illya drops every season, and the movie is outright bad
Prisma illya's animation is way too good for what it is
https://youtu.be/Mx4KrlkyER4
Prisma Illya always amuses me with how the author was originally asked to write a SoL about Shirou, Rin and Luvia's time in London but ended up getting his own story with Illya approved and creating a whole spin-off series for his Waifu.
i've probably said it already but damn the music in boogiepop is fucking lit
both op and ed
Wonder why they didn't make Kemono Friends S2 a direct sequel. Are we supposed to assume that it has been so long between S1 & S2 that Serval has almost completely forgotten Kaban-chan and what a human is?
I guess in the end it's not remotely important since it's supposed to be a show for little kids.
They just really don't want to acknowledge the previous director I guess.
I watched 5 minutes of the Virtual Youtuber anime. They basically just decided to use the same shitty models and body-tracking software they use for Youtube, but put it on TV. 5 minutes was all I could bother with, it's shit.
I finished Hand Shakers. It turns out that show doesn't have a plot conclusion and ends on a cliffhanger. Luckily, it turns out that W'z is a direct sequel and now I'm ready.
Watched the first episode of W'z. Wow this is straight up a direct sequel, doesn't try to come up with a different conflict for the setting or terminology or anything, just straight up Hand Shakers 2 DJ Boogaloo. The direction has something resembling restraint compared to Hand Shakers so at least it isn't total visual vomit like that show.
Dororo's third episode was absolutely fantastic, I really hope that it can stick to this level of quality production and writing-wise, it's a long 23 more episodes ahead of us and I'd hate to see it drop the ball after such a strong showing.
Space battleship Yamato 2199 was fucking dope.
Are the other series featuring the Yamato worth watching or can I end it there?
Well there's yamato 2202

All episodes aren't out yet tho
Marathoned HnK series this weekend and all caught up to the manga.

Been going through Hi-Score Girl.
Very cute and very good aniem.
Also makes me very sad because I miss those simple days of just playing vidya all the time
Honestly found 2202 to be really boring and lacking the appeal of 2199. Not to mention it takes 90% of the new cast from 2199 that weren't in the 70s anime and throws them in the trash because the director of this one was like "not MY yamato!" and wanted it to be exactly like the original as much as possible. I stopped watching it pretty early on cause it just didn't grab me at all like the first remake did.
It's written by the writer of Gundam Unicorn which explains a lot.
I recommend watching Hi-Score Girl.

The fact that half the cast in Kotobuki aren't CG and how it cuts back and forth between fucking awful CG and perfectly good 2D somehow manages to annoy me way more than if the entire show was in shit CG, because at least then it wouldn't give me the impression that they could have made this whole show 2D outside of the vehicles and they just figured they could slash costs by not doing so.
I can't adjust to their awful animation when it keeps cutting back and forth between it and 2D, usually with both clashing with each other in the same scene.
I finally got around to watching Nanoha. I figured it'd be pretty decent since I really hadn't ever heard any complaints about it ever but it's actually even better than I was expecting. I'm currently about half way through ViVid which seems worse than StrikerS (but nonetheless is a decent watch) but for the first three series my only real complaint is that the explanation given for limiters in StrikerS was fucking retarded compared to the very obvious explanation they had. Rather than explaining limiters with some bullshit about preventing competition between high level mages they should've just gone with the blatantly obvious explanation of powerful mages like Nanoha and Fate being so powerful that not operating with limiters in place is actually dangerous. As shown by one of Nanoha's attacks near the climax causing some damage to her staff.
I thought ViVid was kinda boring imo.
Nanoha was great.
Nanoha A's was incredible.
Nanoha StrikerS was good.
Nanoha Vivid was average.
The combination of a truckload of new characters and that never ending tournament just really killed the pacing compared to the previous seasons. The fights can be interesting and exciting, and it certainly has its moments, but boy does it drag on...
I'd have to roughly agree with this. I thought Nanoha and A's were about equal with StrikerS improving in a few regards and misstepping in a few (the limiters, for example) but all three were still quite good. As chunkymonkey said, so far ViVid seems pretty boring in comparison. The most interesting parts for me are seeing what everyone from StrikerS is currently up to. And the mock battle during the retreat was pretty interesting even if the outcome was all too obvious.
I'm only up to episode 8 which is just as they're starting to train for the tournament but I have to agree with the rest of the sentiment. First seven episodes introduce like five characters or so (Lutecia's mother was shown in StrikerS but never really got actual screentime) but then the outro for episode seven introduces a bunch more.
Also the entire concept of going from three seasons of trying to prevent major borderline world-ending disasters to a freaking tournament arc is strange to say the least. And the character designs are a bit worse (introducing multiple characters with heterochromia for example) as well as more fanservice crap which tends to detract from any decent series in my opinion.
Well I finished ViVid. What in the world was up with that excuse for a conclusion? Random focus on a bunch of characters they just introduced but don't show the matches for several of the main characters including one of the two put forth as a protagonist? And don't even show the conclusion of the tournament? They spent several episodes playing up the match between Miura and Vivio and the entire season up to this point had been playing up the rivalry between Einhardt and Vivio and then neither of those things get concluded. And unless I just forgot it I don't think Rio even got any freaking matches on-screen. It feels like it should've had like twice as many episodes as it did. They tried to do way too much with too few episodes and ended up basically failing on every front.
I was expecting the rest of the series to be as mediocre as the first half but it just going downhill like that was disappointing. The only good thing was the match between Einhardt and Corona.
Yup, and that is the main reason why ViVid is just not very good.
While Vivid is bad at least it's not the piece shit of that Vivid Strike was.
