Did this a couple of years ago for Halloween fun with a group of friends using some group streaming service. Had everyone crying by the end it was so insane.
Duel Masters is fucking great as a satirical work in regards to card game anime. It's also great that actual Japanese version takes itself seriously, which makes the dub that much more enjoyable. Although, it is also family-friendly, because it was running on Cartoon Network way back then, so it's not entirely GS tier.
With that same group of friends like a month before we ended up watching all of Naruto because one of them lost a bet and had to watch the whole series. At least half the group those was actually sorta in to it. But I just took it as an opportunity to live out Mystery Science Theater 3000/RiffTrax and mocked it at every step. Which eventually infected everyone else in the group except one guy who I think got offended we were taking the piss out of it.
Senko-san's extreme level of self-insert and wish-fulfilment pandering makes it really uncomfortable to watch if you aren't in its target audience.
Shin-chan was like that to a lesser extent. Well, actually I've heard mixed stories from different people about it. Some people have told me it's a 100% family-friendly kids' show in Japan and the English dubbers filled it with adult humor, but other people told me it was already full of adult humor in the original Japanese version, and never a kids' show. Somebody else here might know better than me.
what the fuck is sarazanmai
It's Ikuhara's new show so I'm going to go out on a wild flying guess and say that it's incredibly unsubtle sexual theming and imagery wrapped in over-the-top stylised visuals.
I tried watching the first two episodes of Konosuba and I didn't really liked it. Also; Genocidal Organ was a good movie.
Writing-wise OPM s2 is, well, more OPM, but everything generally has a lot less impact and feels clunkier even ignoring action scenes. And when it does get to the action it's either struggling to keep up with the spectacle that OPM demands or is trying to execute the bare minimum it can get away with. When OPM s1 wanted to have action or a scene that's meant to make an impression or have impact you'd get a lavishly animated sequence. In S2 Garou's introduction is met with glorified action stills.
I'm pretty used to empty feelings towards adaptations since I enjoy Berserk and One Piece. While the source material is great stuff and enjoyable on its own, it's also disappointing to get adaptations that feel fairly hollow. Maybe there will be some really lovely adaptations a millennia from now, but at least I can love the original works.
There are a lot of cases where I would straight up rather have had nothing because at least then the property isn't poisoned for the next five to ten years, and that's if it's a popular series. Nearly every other manga gets one shot at being adapted and if they fuck it up then that's that, nobody is going to come back and give it another go in ten years. And in the case of anime where the adaptation changes directors or studios, nobody is going to come back and say "well the first season was alright but they screwed up the second season, let's just pretend the second season didn't happen and restart from there".
Like Terraformars complete art change in the 2nd season. Jesus that was jarring from someone that binged the first season to start the 2nd.
Isn't that what tokyo ghoul did
The art change was the least of S2's problems. The direction was absolutely fucking awful for half of the damn run. The few well animated sequences were struck down by the sheer stupidity of their direction until they presumably launched that director to Mars and got someone else to do the other half of the show, where action scenes particularly finally managed to show you something for more than 2 seconds.
What category is it in for that post? Because it's always popping up as recommended viewing but I've just never gotten around to watching it and I guess I'm curious if it's worth the time.
It's a godawful adaptation.
The part about them ignoring s2 and doing a new adaptation. S2 of tokyo ghoul was complete garbage so they totally ignored it and kept adapting the manga instead for s3 I think.
I'm pretty sure that's what happened with Minami-ke.
Yeah, iirc Minami-ke changed studios with s2 so that's why it turned into shit. I'm still salty about that.
The same studio made s3 and it was fine. The problem with s2 is that shitty anime original character and the overall different tone that's more depressing than what it should be for a slice of life.

Oddman 11 chapter 43 spoilers: I can't believe Comic Zin is fucking dead
The actual fuck happened with Dororo this week? A guest animator or something? Because boy does it look like fucking shit to the point it's comical, my god.
I literally laughed out loud when this masterpiece showed up on screen. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/553/9426e023-d140-4ce3-baa4-e60f1d37b149/2019-04-22_14-37-13.webm
That's, uhh, "experimental".
the animation reminds me of old newsground flash for some reason
According to /a/, it is in fact a guest animator, the same guy who did TTGL's 4th episode (aka THAT episode). People need to stop inviting this fucker to do episodes of their shows, it never ends well.
that's some inferno cop levels of "animation"
