Even if Hulk and Banner didn't get any notable character development until Ragnarok, he was still endearing and likable before that movie due to Ruffalo's performance feeling always sort of paranoid, vulnerable and unstable, down to his body language, mannerisms and nuances.
Elevator goes up.
I feel like Banner had a lot of really stand-out moments beyond just "Hulk smash" though, whereas "lookit how hard she blowed the thing up" is all Carol's gotten as of now. I'm far from the biggest fan of Whedon's writing, but he did a fabulous job characterizing him in the first Avengers movie. That whole "I'm sorry, that was mean" bit with Black Widow was great and his little "I put a bullet in my mouth and the other guy spit it out" moment is arguably the best in the entire movie. He got a bit flanderized after that (mainly because legal shenanigans prevent Hulk from starring in his own standalone movie without Universal hoovering up all the profits, so they couldn't really give him too much focus without taking a bath on a Hulk standalone movie), but Ragnarok onward gave him way more to work with. I honestly don't think Carol is a lost cause; her little moment with Spider-Man honestly felt like a breath of fresh air for the character. If they just course-correct slightly and make her more of a "tough older sister/cool aunt" type and less of a stock "I am STRONG FEMALE PROTAGONIST, having FEELINGS is WEAK" stereotype, I could really see her meshing well with the rest of the MCU ensemble. I made the joke back when Captain Marvel came out, but her entire character seriously reminds me of that one Kate Beaton strip: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/241798/320890a2-43a5-441d-8b3d-64512e414263/image.png
Did you completely ignore Age of Ultron? Banner was a pretty critical character in that, even if you completely cut out the whole bullshit love interest. His dynamic with changing into the Hulk or not, helping create Ultron and discussions with Tony. I would argue there's even more character development for Banner in AoU than Ragnarok
I was rewatching Ultron and man I really hope they bring James Spader back in some form - he has remarkable talent and it's a shame it only used in a single Marvel film. https://youtu.be/Dc-2H-mFB1I
I love how that "best lines and moments video" is basically the entirety of Ultron's screentime in the movie. But I agree, I would love to give Spader another go against a new hero or team.
I really would like him to come back in WandaVision if they're in need of antagonist.
I've honestly not seen AoU since it hit digital release, I didn't even see it in theatres.
"It's a comic book movie, I ain't gotta 'splain shit." -some ripped of D&D meme.
I feel bad for James Spader, because his voicework was overall excellent and really suited Ultron, it's just that Whedon only knows how to write one kind of villain and whoever finalized the art direction insisted on giving him articulated eyebrows and lips so that the inhuman, unfeeling genocidal AI could emote more effectively. Ultron is everything I wanted him to be when he was just James Spader's cool-ass voice coming out of the disheveled Stark drones, then it all went to shit the second he started flapping his gums and cracking wise. I hope they bring him back but basically do a ground-up rewrite/redesign of his character so that he can actually be taken seriously.
Honestly I do hope the thing with lylla being a love interest out of nowhere is false. I remember gunn did a interview saying he didn't want to add her in. Also I'm a bit bias towards a gay/bi Rocket.
Everyone has fetishes, but dude... that ain't gonna happen for real
Rocket in no way has been shown as being gay or bi, it's not going to happen
Right after finishing watching Age of Ultron, I remember being positively livid about how Whedon adapted Ultron, mostly because I'm more of a fan of Ultron's more omnicidial maniac aspects of its personality than its cringy attempts at being humorous and "human". Some years later, I'm mostly torn about it, because I think the Ultron from the movie is a fair attempt at trying to capture the various sides of the character, but the operation was really ruined by Joss Whedon being, well, Joss Whedon.
I wasn't looking at it from a fetish perspective, I meant it more as a character one to show him as more complex. And Gunn did say one of guardian's was gay, so with narrowing it down, it looks more like Rocket could be, even though his comic incarnation may be more to the straight side. I mostly just want it so that he has some good character moments, hell he doesn't have to even get a love interest or anything.
I always assumed the gay one was Nebula. Gay Rocket could be cool solely because gayliens are rad, but I imagine a lot of higher ups would be hesitant to assign a sexuality to (what many people observe to be) an animal that can talk. I just don't see it happening.
That would probably be the more likely choice for them, either of them being gay is good in my book
Groot's gay
Do sentient trees even have gender?
Well, I mean, non-sentient ones can. Gotta pollinate, y'know. Groot's an alien tree, though, so who knows?
I bet groot eats ass like he eats sunlight
I really hope we have normal Groot back in Guardians 3, I don't want an entire movie of teenage Groot jokes.

Finally, a cut of the movie for us gamers! This is truly epic!
apparently it's a joke, the image cuts off the very bottom. Though really it should be obvious based on most of the description.
Phew, ok, faith in humanity partially restored. Cuz jeez.
Nowadays it seems like its a flip of a coin whether such a thing is a "joke" or not.
I had to check if this was real, because holy fuck https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/129/28fc0e37-dcd9-4d00-b700-eaf5a180cf25/spider-man-far-from-home-poster--1172113[1].jpeg https://twitter.com/ComicBook/status/1131217607288393728 What the hell is this composition, Sony?
Not enough Tony Starks on the cover.
Here's an alternate version. At least this one's lighting doesn't look like it came from a broken Source map. https://i.redd.it/3r9182ldtrz21.jpg
