At this rate, given how awful 803 and 804 were, I'm predicting that the shitposts about Arya or Grey Worm ending Cleganebowl will probably be accurate
I thought it was implied that he isn't mindless? Like whenever it zooms in on his eyes as he does something it shows expressions, I think it is more he has all emotions stripped is more accurate which makes him even more dangerous as his biggest weakness was his rash anger.
Granted, the thing is muddy as hell in the books as well (it's worth mentioning that, as far as they are concerned, the identity of Sir Robert Strong is still a mystery ... sort of), but I've always assumed that the procedure induced some sort of animalistic conditioning in him, to the point he can now only blindly follow Quilbur and Cersei directives, as well as protecting them by default, and pretty much nothing else.
Also, I have my doubts he's physically suited to host a self-consciousness or rationale at this point. I mean, if you notice his eyes are rotting away, for fuck's sake
This show sucks now. Might as well just sad rewatch season 1-4 on repeat.
I don't know.. Does the writing have any insight on his condition post operation ?
We know he's still a sadist by his smile when he gets down and dirty with the nun.. Maybe we'll get some more personality out of him during the 📣📣📣📣📣 CLEGANEBOWL GET HYPE 📣📣📣📣📣📣
I forget the absolute specifics, but the books make it abundantly clear that Gregor Clegane died, making what Qyburn did all the more mysterious and dreadful
yeah in the books it's possible he straight up doesn't have a head anymore, his skull was (supposedly) sent as a peace offering to Dorne. so he's probably walking around with either someone else's head or with just a stick jammed in his neckhole to keep his helmet on, which is badass.
also he doesn't need to poop anymore which is an added benefit

What sucks is that most of the actors and actresses in this season are pretty much giving it their all. They're just stuck with a shitty script.
Showrunners wanting to move on it seems. Oh well, headed for Star Wars, so their popularity WILL take a hit anyway.
D&D are super actor-focused. Giving the actors the scenes they need to emote and give incredible performances comes above the writing.
That's why 'actors are giving it their all but the script is shit' has been applicable since like, season 5. D&D are borderline obsessed with their actors, going as far as to basically write in the entire Dorne subplot to show off Indira Varma.
It's nice that we get to see really gripping and engaging performances. I just wish they made sense half of the time.
I can still say there's moments of greatness in S5, even though it was very rocky at points. Now its just flat out blatant. Like DnD isn't thinking "How would the characters get to this situation, how would they react, how would they get there, and what would their response be?". Its now "Lets take the character and place them in this situation and see their reaction." Like they're disregarding all logic in the writing just to get reactions from the Characters.
its like the Anti-True Detective of writing.
i feel kinda bad for Euron's actor tbqh, that scene where he goes full berserker on the boat was a hint of the Victarion we could have had
Christ, the wait for tomorrow's episode has been interminable. However the story goes, I just don't want this series to fail so close to the end.

“Well, yeah – of course you have an emotional reaction,” he answered. “I mean, would I prefer they do it exactly the way I did it? Sure. But I’ve been on the other side of it, too. I’ve adapted work by other people, and I didn’t do it exactly the way they did it, so….”
He was also asked about his feelings regarding the end of the show. “You know, it’s complex. I’m a little sad, actually,” Martin admitted. “I wish we had a few more seasons. But I understand. Dave and Dan are gonna go on to do other things, and I’m sure some of the actors were signed up for like seven or eight years, and they would like to go on and take other roles. All of that is fair. I’m not angry or anything like that, but there’s a little wistfulness in me.
I feel like another season or two, plus these past seasons being a full 10 episodes, would've gone a long way in improving the quality. Even with the exact same plot but more time to flesh it out, it would've been much better.
I'd normally agree, but I think at this point, the bigger issue is them needing more material from George to work with.
At least GRRM has a healthy attitude about it, acknowledging that the showrunners and actors can't keep doing this forever and want to move on to other things. Besides, with pretty much all adaptations there has to be some compromises made to translate it from text to film otherwise it easily turns into a mess. Just a shame they haven't had much material to adapt from for the last few seasons, but regardless they've still managed to churn out some damn good material here and again.

I think they could have poured as many seasons as they wanted into the show, it would have never truly represented his novels. The original unaired pilot ended up being garbage for a reason, and most of the plot really is nigh-unfilmable.
This isn't a bad thing, ASOIAF is just a rather distinct piece of writing in how interwoven it is, and what the show actually needed was to be planned out and cut down from the beginning, rather than half way through it's production. From the get-go the show should have had a concise vision for itself. Instead we have examples like Dorne initially being cut from the show, then hastily being added back in half-way through.
They could have cut down so much more and introduced so many more show-only elements and it would have ended up better than what we got.

infamous book quotes.
D&D are just mailing it in and they ain't even hiding in the BTS videos. I'm curious what the actors will say in a when their NDA's expire.
Minor spoilers for S8E4:

... no. This is just bad writing along with truncated writing. The differences between e[ 1-2 and 3-4 are almost different shows.

I skipped denial and had a laughing at how absurd it is phase.
Now I've got one foot there and the other in anger.
Ready to be very upset tonight. Internet is gonna be on fire.
Question: did naval warfare weaponry not exist in GoT before Euron's dragon killing weapons? Cause during the scene I was wondering why Dany's fleet seemed to not be able to fight back at all.
To be brutally honest, I think you're giving it more thought than the writers even did
Every leaked version of the ending is more baffling than the last. Including a scene involving an entire side plot that even the leakers are like "Yeah we're not sure why any of this is fucking happening, these characters just decide to blame this character for random shit"
