Why would you need gunpowder when you can summon eldritch brain eating monstrosities and flying death beasts.
... Go on.
I say only because they're supposed to basically be China in this and China invented gunpowder. So it would make sense if they had powder based weapons or at least fireworks
I'm would hazard they have it for engineering and celebrations, since they've got other way more... killy stuff for martial concerns.
So why isn't this the focus of the GoT spinoffs?
Have you heard GRRM's laugh? The reason he still lives is the torturous pain and longing extracted from his fans. The reason he lives in an adobe house is because it soaks up all the blood and tears easily.
I will say that this season has made me warm up to Emilia Clarke as an actor. It seems like she was born to play a villain. I was a lot more captivated than the stoic stares of the last 7 seasons.
is it bad I find angry dany hot?
When I opened up /tv/ looking for possible streams, a lot of people were horny for sick and dying Daenerys, so, you're not that far gone yet :U
I mean it was either a /tv/ or /fa/ thread where I found this so... I'm definitely not as far gone as the people into the sick and dying https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/190794/7367031b-8941-4438-b879-8bdea5327f58/1554924047731.jpg
After being disappointed with this season, I decided to start reading the first book finally so I can get a taste of some good writing. Man, GRRM was foreshadowing some of these plot twists from the first couple chapters, most notably Ned's remembering Lyanna's last words, and awkwardly trying to dodge around questions about Jon whenever he comes up.

Welp, 34 1/2 hours left until we get to see how this all wraps up. I'm hoping we'll all be very pleasantly surprised and we can look back on this show fondly despite all its missteps. While I have read the leaks, I am filled with a slight skepticism as none of the more reputable leakers have come up and confirmed/denied these. Honestly, there's only two things that I truly hope will happen. 1) If Daenerys is indeed killed, I want the characters to remember her not only for her horrific act last episode, but for all the good she did in the preceding 7 seasons. Additionally, there needs to be some kind of denoument to the character; you can't just kill her off and leave it at that, and there better be a good goddamn reason why Greyworm and Drogon don't just straight up massacre the person who kills her. 2) I really like the theory that Bran/3ER is a master manipulator and far less indifferent than he's appeared thus far. He saw the shadow of Daenerys' dragon flying over King's Landing back in Season 4. Why is he so insistent that Jon knows who he is? It didn't benefit anyone; in fact, it made literally everyone's lives worse. If they pull the rug out and show how Bran has manipulated everything to get to this point, INCLUDING possibly warging into Drogon or Daenerys which would help explain why she suddenly veered off from going towards the Red Keep and massacred a whole bunch of people...I'd be thrilled. It wouldn't save the whole season, but that would be an excellent twist and go a long way to explaining all the out-of-character nonsense we've been subject to. If only.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJqhdAQnAbs 6x10 was the last great episode tbh Really like his point that this story shines where there's no end in sight, having to end it has them falls back on boring standard story logic. It's true that even if they had enough seasons to end it while keeping the pacing and good writing of the early seasons, ending a Song of ice and fire loses a lot of the appeal of the story however you do it to me. That being said, they also really fucked it up, even with few seasons a lot of small changes would make things way more satisfying.
All I can hope for is this disaster of an ending is that it lights a fire under GRRM's ass to finish the books. As for the show I'm hardly even interested anymore, the events are so absurd I've lost most of my emotional investment.
In a weird way, it's kind of been nice watching the vast majority of other figureheads and areas on the internet react the same way; oftentimes I wonder if I'm just missing something or I'm in the minority, but it's become abundantly clear they dropped the ball. Burlington Bar didn't seem to like it, Easy Allies most certainly didn't like it, Angry Joe fucking HATED it, and all over the internet, reviewers big and small are mostly going between "Yeesh, I'm okay with it but it sure wasn't done well" and "What the unholy fuck have they done."
So the actor that plays Euron Greyjoy had an interview with Soundvenue after last's weeks episode. Turns out the reason why him and Jamie just HAD to fight...is because both actors are Danish and D&D thought it would be nice to have them square off as a tribute to Denmark. The below is run through Google Translate, so apologies for any mistranslation. Pilou: "So it was pretty crazy all of a sudden to be part of the world's largest television series, and to be allowed to stand with another Dane on the biggest scene in the world and play some wonderful scenes is pretty cool. But I hadn't counted on it. I was absolutely sure it would be an internal Greyjoy job. But I could feel after season seven - and with the way Dan and David think - that they thought it was fun to make a tribute to Denmark ”." Interviewer: "Do you think that was why they did that? Pilou: "I think they think it was fun. The manuscript does indeed testify to some form of awareness that the two Danes must meet each other in a standoff. Suddenly, it is clear that it might have made more sense if it was Theon or Yara who killed him "." So even though it hurt the story, D&D did it anyway because of an inside joke. What the actual fuck. Full article here in Danish HERE
After D&Ds obsession with their SEVENTY LIVE HORSES, nothing they do surprises me anymore. I guess they just sort of forgot about cohesive writing.
The "retard that wants to see neat things happen with his computer" joke from the Plinkett reviews honestly applies to David Benioff scarily accurately.
They really did. After all, unless tomorrow's episode is a total shocker, this is all the stuff I can think of that ended up being meaningless: Jon being a Targaryan. All it did was make him miserable and lead to the Mad Queen Arya's Faceless Man training in Braavos. She used that trick exactly once in the last two seasons, and it was the first scene of S7. Bran being the 3-Eyed Raven. What benefit has there been? He was used as bait for the Night King (whoopee) and...then what? All he did was reveal Jon's heritage which fucked everyone over. Daenerys' everything. Slight exaggeration, but it does really reduce the meaning of her entire story arc. The Citadel - Dropped off the face of the earth, apparently. Daenerys' and the endless subtext in Season 7 about how she couldn't have children. Ended up being wasted conversation time. 'Beyond the Wall' in Season 7 where they captured a wight: ended up being literally useless. All we got was Jamie fighting at Winterfell, that's it. Nobody even brought up the Army of the Dead and THE FACT THEY WERE DEFEATED to Cersei or anyone else that probably should know. Varys. Just about everything he's done recently has been a waste, and if it's true that Bran ends up sitting the throne...then even his attempted treason and implied poisoning of Daenerys was for naught. And that's just what I can think of.
Any scenario in which Bran ends up on the throne would be the absolute worst. He has no place or right to be there.

They tried to warn us.
Jesus christ..
I really want to know if they are actually disgusted with it and this is how they can show it publicly, or if this is some sort of out of context type of thing. From what I can tell though, it's genuine
they're probably playing it off because they know they might be getting overprotective of their characters and might not be looking at it fairly. the entire cast seems to go to pains to approach everything as just watchers of the show like anyone else, and that's why many of them come across as conflicted in interviews. it's really admirable honestly, shame nobody told them not to trust D&D's judgement
People are freaking out over how the characters have been mangled after watching the show for 10 years, imagine how it must feel to be the person who was that character, imagine being emilia clarke and spending all that time going through and living Daenerys' story, and then getting the script that has "n then u go crazeee and kill evaryone lel ;)". It must be crushing.

I have not seen any leaks but here's how i think it will boil down to: Dany has her imperial march scene from the preview, gives a speech, maybe kills some extra's. Ayra tries to kill Dany. Grey Worm or Drogon save Dany. (Arya probably dies throwing away her whole arc and last episode's hound moment) Dany goes madder believing Sansa and maybe even Jon and the North have a plot to replace her. She either starts going to Drogon to kill Sansa or starts a fight between the westerosi and esoss troops and tries to kill jon. Jon kills her and would not be surprised if they call back to Ygritte again and have the shot be just like her death (fighting in the back ground while Jon cradles her body) Jon sits on the throne as Aegon the sad. Then as we need some stupid twist Bran appears in the throne room. "Bran how did you get here?" Bran then looks directly into the camera. "there must always be a Night King" Then Dany's corpse stands up with blue eyes and skin. Jon says "Ah shit here we go again" Credits. Not sure what will happen to most of the other characters and Drogon. Tyrion will probably wander KL when Bron steps from behind a wall says "give castle" then a brick falls on him killing him. Tyrion shrugs and leaves.
Whoops, all characters have lost character development
