Ahh I see, I haven't been listening to the podcasts. Are they worth it?
Yes
All the podcast episodes have been stellar so far, it's worth a watch even if you don't like podcasts
Totally, it helps put things into a better context both within the show and outside of it. Explains a lot of the thinking behind the more dramatized parts too.
Thank fuck, cause this is the first I’m hearing of it and that definitely would have sent me tumbling over some kind of edge. It’s already such an emotionally devastating show
They also didn't actually show any animals getting shot (thank god). I was preparing for that when I heard how bad that episode was for people with pets.
It actually happened, so it shows the restraint Craig Mazin & Johan Renck has with the series. They know when something is too much, some other director would have happily gone full gore and shock. Also its weird that the writer/producer Craig Mazin is the same person who wrote the hangover sequels, superhero movie, the huntsman: winter's war and others. Talk about finding your true calling.
Just need the right material for an artist to shine.
Those men who went in the radioactive water in order to open the sleuce gate are absolute heroes. They saved millions of lives. I probably would not have been born if they hadn't. I quite literally teared up and got chills at that scene.
The podcasts illuminate so many details that I honestly couldn't imagine watching the show without immediately following it up with the podcast.

The growing relationship between the two of them, and seeing Boris be more than just a party yes-man and needless asshole has been great.
Legasov as well. He was quite the party man and this was the thing that broke both of them. Seeing that change is very well done.
To be honest, the Major fucking breaking down the gates with the truck to get accurate readings is also a cool moment of "I am not just a goddamned party favorite".
hey remember that time Ted Cruz's college roommate tweeted about he masturbated despite calling it evil? https://twitter.com/JasonDFW/status/1133838618437574658?s=20
It sometimes astounds me how these types of coincidences can occur. Anyway... The Soundtrack was released. https://open.spotify.com/album/5q53mBxAsq77kK9aCHcAtZ?si=GNBv3fi-RceYkrd72i-EtQ
Episode 4 is called "The Happiness of All Mankind". Isn't that one of the final lines in Roadside Picnic? I'm going to disagree with the statement that those divers saved millions of lives. Most of the reactor's volatile fission product loading (xenon was lost when the reactor exploded. A second steam explosion would have been locally devastating (I have no clue how they would have dealt with it, it would be a monumental task to clean up), but the off site impact would have been minimal. Non-volatile fission product don't go far unlike caesium and xenon isotopes.
Regardless of hypothetical results and statistics, I think either way we shouldn't downplay the fact those divers signed up for what was a suicide mission, and have prevented any further damages done and lives lost. They deserve all the credit they can get.
I wonder where "Black Raven" is
dang, this is really really good. thanks for posting
I'm also kind of hoping this is just a part of the soundtrack, because I'm most definitely certain there are a couple other pieces, though they might sound similar with the Evacuation one. Kind of dislike that aspect of studios releasing osts. They don't release everything from the soundtrack, and the specific track you want in your library isn't part of the playlist. I would pay money for those specific tracks.

How many aliens are teleporting in? 3.6 but our equipment maxes out at- 3.6; not good not terrible
Nah, the guy that pressed AZ-5 should be Gordon, Dyatlov should be the scientist that briefs him before the test chamber. "We have assured the administration that nothing can go wrong"
God this show is such great tankie bait. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/109898/c2cddcc3-e8e2-44b1-a1e6-be9aa439abe0/FB_IMG_1559411485086.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/109898/d1d59dea-6ba2-48fe-b3c8-b510fd548009/FB_IMG_1559413532316.jpg
Meanwhile the people who actually lived through it say it's one of the most authentic representation of the era yet. tankies are so trash
