ASOIAF/Game of Thrones Discussion V3: A Song Of Ice Cubes and Fire

Well everyone has already pointed out all the many, many plotholes and issues so I won't bother mentioning them.
I'll just say what a damn shame. For the most part I'm fine with everything that happened (except fucking bran? really?), and actually a lot of it could have been interesting, but it needed to be about 20 episodes instead of 6.
My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.
I can buy Grey Worm and the Unsullied/Dothraki seizing control of King's Landing as they made up the bulk of Dany's army and we did see Jon ordering his forces out of the city as it burned.
But the subsequent question is why we should care that he's seized the city considering Dany had burned it to the ground and was in the process of executing anybody who was still left.
I guess it's because they didn't want to leave Tyrion and Jon to be executed, though Grey Worm couldn't have been in any hurry considering they had time to bring all the lords and ladies together for this council.
Probably gonna be the odd one out here, but I actually appreciated Drogon destroying the iron throne instead of Jon. It was said they're supposedly more intelligent then people are, so him taking out his anger on the symbol that corrupted Dany vs killing another Targarayn didn't feel like that big a stretch. But I could just be biased because A: seeing the iron throne get melted was satisfying, and B: Drogon of all fuckin characters surviving the series was damn satisfying... Even tho it sounds like Bran and co are just gonna end up hunting him down eventually.
That and Ghost were probably the highlights of the episode for me, which really says a lot lol...
Probably the biggest issue for me is Greyworm seriously just letting Jon free like that. It didn't feel like something his character would do. Hell, it would've made more sense if he just killed Jon out right the moment he found out what happened. The amount of absurd "Jon really should've died just then" scenes this series piled on towards the end is ridiculous. O well!
can someone explain this to me
why does anyone give a remote shit about what grey worm thinks should happen to jon - they fucking leave, why are they respecting the wishes of dany's personal genocide agents
only two people voiced any fuckin opinions about jon staying, grey worm and the iron island cunts, couldn't they have just waited for grey worm to leave and then be like "OK you don't have to take the black jon"
who gives a fuck what the iron islanders think about justice, they spent almost the entire show raping and murdering people
Yeah, as I went through the day today I came to about the same conclusion. This season would have been immensely better had they gone for the full 10 episode stretch and given each character time to breathe and more clearly show they they reach their final destination; not only would important story beats have gotten the exploration they needed, but I really think the characters would have behaved more intelligently as they wouldn't be up against "Well, this character needs to be at this point so...how can we force that?"
But hey, credit to the cast and crew, they absolutely did their best with what they had, and a lot of them put in some of their best performances to date. Emilia Clarke especially has never been better than she was this season, and thank god for that because she sold her character more than the writing did. Kit Harrington did an outstanding job this past episode too.
Honestly every single character loyal to dany got thrown away and utterly ruined. Dany's sudden nose dive was ridiculous enough but Grey Worm's numb compliance with it is even harder to believe. If they were gonna have Dany go retard it would've been a lot more poetic to have Grey Worm and the Unsullied turn against her precisely because she instilled the right to choose in them.
Yeah, just about everything was fantastic except for the writing.
Game of Thrones: Brotherhood when?
That would be great, at least as long as they brought back the cast.
Hell, I'd be ecstatic for an "Extended Edition" Blu-Ray box set, a la The Lord of the Rings. Give me an extra episode of content, context and character, even if half of it are just scenes that were left on the cutting room floor for runtime.
I know we're not gonna get that, but man...I mean it's not like you could save the season in its entirety, but you could salvage a lot. Even just a few scenes edited to play out differently (like that fan-edit of the Euron ambush in episode 4) would help in a huge way.
shout-outs to this spectacularly stupid line

like it literally feels like a child wrote this good fucking lord lmao
There were a handful of lines that made me upset (mostly from Bran), but this one right about made me scream. Gee whiz, the woman that torched tens of thousands of people and weirdly showed no remorse in doing so is a killer? Thanks for the insight.
So why was Tyrion not mentioned in the book of ice and fire
I don't think I'll be able to get over what they did to Jon. Like, holy shit, THAT is the capital offense to me.
You know the biggest crime of the finale is how they did my boy Radmure Tully dirty like that.
Has no one brought up Ser Podrick? Fuck yeah mate you deserve it
It's an allegory that some of the most influential people in politics don't get remembered cause they were simply that good at swaying people without getting noticed.
But if dragons are that smart, it suspends my disbelief somewhat that Drogon would have gone from "I'm so fucking pissed that my brothers are dead and I'm 100 percent behind burninating the countryside. I will do ask you ask Dany and will destroy everything" to "hmm, it would seem as if my mother's tragically misled quest for vengeance and power has led her to ruin. I blame this symbol of power and will destroy it to break the cycle.". If Drogon was willing enough to go along with destroying KL, wouldn't he have gone absolutely APESHIT after Dany died? IDK. I don't know Dragon psychology. But it was a little strange and on the nose for me.
To be fair he was still a teenager then. He was going through his edgy phase.
"Well, the Unsullied have left to return to their homelands. Now we can rebuild our broken Kingdom"
"Uh sir, what about the Dothraki?"
"Oh.......shit.................."

She forgot about it.
Which frankly doesn't make sense because he was the Hand of King Joffrey and Hand of Daenerys. He killed Tywin Lannister, was accused and technically convicted of killing King Joffrey, he was a key part of the Battle of Blackwater Bay.
Also we already had that fucking allegory after Tyrion didn't get any credit for saving King's Landing against Stannis' army.
So it's just to shit on Tyrion for literally no reason. The message of the story in that scene is literally fucking. "No matter what you do, you will always be forgot cause you're a fucking dwarf". So fucking fuck everything that mattered with Tyrion's character development.
Just roll with the new cannon argument for every plothole.
Archmaester Ebrose forgot about Tyrion's involvement.
This clip incapsulates the anger the community is feeling towards D&D .

Wait a minute
If Jon is a Targaryen
and Drogon couldn’t kill him with dragonfire so he burnt the iron throne in effigy instead
then why the fuck did Jon burn his hand on that lantern he threw at the wight to save Mormont way back in S1
What the FUCK
Well, the Targaryen being "Fire Proof" thing is more of the show. Meanwhile Dany being immune to fire in the book was due to blood magic shenanigans. And apparently Dany in the show was suppose to be something unique in being fire proof. yet again they throw that out the fucking window cause D&D don't care anymore.
I hate how D&D treat Edmure Tully.
He makes a perfectly reasonable argument for his candidacy to be king yet Sansa shuts him down, and were supposed to laugh at him? He's one of the most tragic characters, his country and house was ripped to shreds by war, his sister and nephew where murdered at his own wedding, and he was imprisoned for who knows how long. There's nothing funny about him.
It's stuff like this that makes me question how D&D think.
Pissed me right off. That, along with "democracy lol" was so fucking tone-deaf.
