Do anyone here have a set of JoJo's SFX? I'd rip it from Eyes of Heaven or All Star Battle if I was savvy enough, but alas
Wanted to post this, but someone else did, so it saves me the effort :v:

Spanish blind dates reality show had a weeb guest and it was a disaster/success.
They served all the spaghetti that fell out of his pocket. Or maybe because there's a spaguetti scene in Jojo, who knows.

I think it's suppose to be the "Dorarara" cry.

only if you've already seen the david productions version or read the manga
it butchers the story but has some really nice fight scenes and direction, so it's still fun
the 2000 prequel OVA is weak though

Seconding this, IMO the final battle is better in the OVA than the DP anime. The reveal of [sp]Star Platinum being able to stop time[/sp] is less bullshit, there are some new scenes in the fight and instead of [sp]ROADA ROLLA DA[/sp] we get a fucking tanker truck.

The tanker is way lamer than what it replaced though.

I've always wondered why the fuck they replaced it. It's probably once of the most iconic scenes in the whole of Part 3 and they just randomly replaced it. Why?

I'm even more bummed that Eyes of Heaven just doesn't even include it.
That or the disappearance of Joseph's "You next line is" taunt. But at least here we get his Tequila outfit to compensate

Because whoever was directing it went "nah, we should do this instead, I've got a better idea" and in that it encapsulates the biggest problem with the OVA: it has none of Jojo's signature flair or style. Nobody poses, the atmosphere and colours are subdued, everybody's voice acting is limp and all of the crusaders kinda have the same voice type (although I do kinda like calm old man Dio). Plus the music is awful and just kind of there. It's not a faithful adaptation at all. Plus obviously the characters get completely shafted because it starts in the middle of the story. Nobody shows any particular personality besides Jotaro being Jotaro and Polnareff in the OVA is just a whiny aggressive asshole.
What the OVA has instead is animation budget and good directing... in Dio's World. N'Doul's part is forgettable (I rewatched it recently and really have nothing to say about it) and D'Arby's two-parter is pretty much 1:1 with David's TV version besides the directing and worse voice acting, so you don't really gain anything from watching that version besides a better version of the drinking bit. Dio's World has good directing and animation so it's an interesting alternate take that's worth watching to contrast it with the proper version, but it has none of the Jojo spirit and could never be an acceptable replacement for reading the manga, and not just because of its length.
Hierophant Green is really cool thanks to the animation though, I'll give it that. All twenty seconds of its screentime is a really cool take on it.
DIU movie is getting a new trailer tomorrow.
Also, some guy on the jojo subreddit is claiming that Yukako is the first yandere type character and Araki invented the yandere, is that true?
I much prefer the OVA version of the Osiris episode than the anime one tbh. The VA for D'arby on that version is much more suitable for the character and the kid that they pick to handle the cards looks way more like a regular child you would see on nowadays modern cairo than the anime version.

Some shit I was extremely surprised to learn: The directors for at least part of the OVA (like the final 3 episodes) were apparently Satoshi Kon (creator of Paranoia Agent, Paprika, Perfect Blue) and Katsuhiro Otomo (creator of Akira).
With their involvement, you'd expect it to be a fukken masterpiece

If not the first, she's one of the first. Araki was bored of the meek "moe" stereotype and wanted to make a female character who could still be angry and intimidated.
Also, Araki based some of her crazy-possessiveness on Annie from Misery so maybe she was the first yandere??

trailer's out
So is Yukako going to be introduced to do literally nothing the entire movie?
That look pretty high quality actually.
I'm looking forward to it.
they really overdid it with the color correction
still no stands though

Both of those people are credited for being animation directors, who have nothing to do with the OVA on a broader level.
They came in and do work for the scenes they were in charge of and that's usually the end of their involvement.
Because of this series I get the weirdest mental images when I look at ordinary thread titles now.

The way Josuke moves at 1:06 followed by how the thug flies away for no reason, and how he just punches with his own fists at 1:15 makes me think stands might just not show up.
We'll just see the effects of them as if we were normal people in this world.
I don't know if having invisible stands is a bad thing
I mean, it's bad because stands are the main thing about Jojo, but at the same time, no matter the budget, they would probably look goofy, it's one of those things that work better on paper.
I actually kind of dig the lighting and weird-ass color grading. And seeing the cast in action is neat.
Probably won't seek it out but I don't think it'll be awful.
