I love reading about how Araki writes, so this book is a lot of fun. I've read about 30 pages so far. I don't know exactly how recent it is, but it's still fairly recent because he talks about Part 8 in it.
It is mostly a guidebook for people who want to draw manga, which is probably useful to like a dozen people in the US, but I just love reading his thoughts on the creative process, even if I'm probably not going to implement them in anything.
So I made it to the episode where [sp]Caesar Zepelli dies[/sp] and while I knew about how he died watching it made me tear up. God damn that was sad.

I mean they're likely basing it off of quite literally 1-2 panels, it's not much to go on in terms of character reference. This is the only panel in which Koichi appears.

That's definitely part of it. It would have been weird for it to be their Part 4 designs, but also weird for them to try and animate the characters with almost no reference to go on. I mean christ, they tried the best they could with [i]one panel of Koichi half-obscured and looking to the side pushed off to the right[/i]
Some characters make that transition a lot better than others. I think they're just trying to be as accurate as possible to the source material - for better or for worse. Imma tell you hwat though, the art in Rohan at the Louvre is fucking bangin'
