So I dressed up as Kira for a Halloween party yesterday (and also stopped by a few comic stores for Halloween Comicfest). Only one person knew who I was - well technically he knew I was "the bomb guy from Jojo's Weird... whatever" but that's close enough (I wasn't wearing the blond wig and my hair is black, so he was also able to recall that I must be him "after he killed that lady"). Lot of compliments on the outfit in any event.
Other guesses included "someone from Ace Attorney" and "Christopher Walken", one guy said he would have guessed Spike Spiegel but I was too well-dressed for him.

The first Jojonium for Part 3 came out today. I reread and I realized I had forgotten a lot of details.
First, it was kind of hilarious how weird and busted everyone looked at first. Jotaro has a whole bunch of nonsense going on with his uniform, and his hair is even crazier (there's a tuft coming out of the center of his hat) while Kakyoin is weirdly fugly at first. Polnareff has weird tufts of hair but only for one panel.

There's also a lot of hints that Araki is still figuring out how Stands work. Early things seem to imply that Stands mostly have a will of their own but Star Platinum [I]very[/I] quickly stops acting independently of Jotaro. And of course there's the fun of Holly's stand - I'm still not sure why defeating DIO will make it go away, plus of course there's all the jokes about how rats and steel towers are stronger than her.
Plus there are a lot of minor inconsistencies - Star Platinum brings tons of things into the cell even though it has a range of about 2 meters, Joseph has to smash a camera while later he can do simple things like rearranging dust, DIO has Hermit Purple and it's never brought up again, and Kakyoin uses paints and puppets to telegraph Hierophant Green's moves.
It also is [I]really[/I] hype! A lot of people give DIO shit for not being much of a villain for the first 80% of SC, but I find that he is set up as a chilling, menacing threat very very effectively (both playing off his Part 1 appearance and his new status). The fights are also exciting, even though Magician's Red vs Star Platinum is very boring compared to even the simplest fight from Part 4 on. Jotaro's speech to Kakyoin about judgement is great.
Also this translation is much lighter on the profanity than the scanlations I read. Jotaro doesn't swear much ("Shut up, lady! You're pissing me off!" vs "You're so damn annoying, you bitch!") but he does still call his mom a bitch ("Dammit bitch, I'm not a kid anymore!") once. They also translated the [sp]hilarious in hindsight[/sp] "all [the Joestar men] have only one woman in their whole life" to "Love hits the Joestar men hard... but only once in a lifetime"

I like really like the anime, but man is it gonna take a while for adaptations. I wanna read the manga, but should I wait till Part 4 finishes and then read Part 5, or finish Part 4 in manga form? I really dunno

Wait for Part 4 to finish if you're watching it anyways, it'll probably be done in about a month and a half. After that, go nuts.
