DC Television Megathread - The House That The Arrow Built
Basically DC can tell CW if they can't use characters (they are worried it will distract people from their own movie plans).
CW were told they can't use Deadshot anymore. They were also told they already have their own plans for Ted Kord. With The Flash movie coming up I'd be worried what they'll have to start cutting from that soon (obviously it's too late to tell them to can the whole show).
I would imagine that's why Legends of Tomorrow is being made. They don't seem to have access to much more, hence such a random collection of characters. There's no doubt been many other things DC has boo-boo'd.
It's nuts. DC should be saying "let us work with you to build our Flash and Arrow universes so we could use them in future movies" instead of "FUCK YOU WE'RE DOING OUR OWN THING. Give me back those toys!".
That would explain my confusion with what LoT is suppose to be. CW must be grasping at these random superheroes to actually have some sort of creative control with them without a lot of DC influence. For example, I couldn't imagine a Hawk girl movie being made, so DC could care less as there won't be any conflicts with a possible movie script.
I just can't understand why they can't use Deadshot, Flash and every single other actor as their respective character in the movie from the CWverse. I see no point in creating to separate 'universes' within TV and film. For instance, I really liked the Deadshot from CWverse and I would love to see more of him on big screen with some other characters, but aparently DC(and/or WB) has different plans..
So with Deadshot's removal, perhaps DC has other plans for him? If so, I would hope they keep the actor from CW. It's a shame to think, the actor has much more potential talent to expose for Deadshot.

Deadshot's going to be in the Suicide Squad movie, portrayed by Will Smith.

Ah that's right. Forgot about that there for a minute. Well then the reason to halt CWverse Deadshot for that movie is trash, in my opinion.
Because Warner Bros doesn't get it.
Marvel is massively into fan service (most of the end credits scenes would mean nothing to those who don't follow the comics madly). But DC isn't. They failed to realise how many people would rush in to see Justice League if it had the CW Barry and Oliver with Affleck and co.
That's why I kinda like the CW DC Universe. There's some good fanservice in there. Like, Firestorm is a pretty weird concept. So is the Speed Force and the Lazarus Pits. The even pronounce Ra's al Ghul correctly (usually.) They seem like they really do care about their roots, and I appreciate that. All of the blockbuster movies, however, don't.
The difference between Marvel and DC is that Marvel is essentially in charge of it's own movies.
Marvel movies feel like adaptations of comic books. Warner Bros don't know comics, they know movies.
Marvel make comic book movies. DC make movies that are based on comic books.
Which is why Superman has never been loyally adapted, every Superman movie is just an example of movie making of the time. They try to bend Superman into a movie format instead of embracing every element of his universe.
But as a result DC movies can be held up as examples of brilliant movies for years to come (The Dark Knight, Superman 2) whereas the MCU films are pretty much serialised and aren't intended to win any Oscars.

About pronounciation of Ra's Al Ghul - it's intended that in the story, people who personally work for or know Ra's pronounce it right and those who don't pronounce it differently. That's because of the Batman Begins I think where it created confusion on how to pronounce it and writers decided to make this little nod to that.
Justice League and Arrow spoilers qeustion: [sp]How does Tatsu/Katana end up in the SS? She's clearly there in the picture for SS and she's also in arrow[/sp]

The movies and shows are not connected. Not even the same actress.
Just found out that guy who did Arrow/Flash captions/synopsis did a bunch more for the rest of the season

Get ready for this for the next X years. The joys of an unconnected comics media verse.
Maybe for DC, but I believe all the Marvel Live Action TV stuff is in the same universe as the MCU.

It is. Otherwise they wouldn't make constant references to the movies in the shows.
DC is just shit about planning their non-comic stuff, or something.

Technically it is, but it's something of a one-way street. The movies affect the TV show, but I don't think Coulson will ever appear in a movie again.

This reminds me of "Let's destroy Metal Gear", which curiously is also in imgur.
Too right.

I wonder if Ollie is gonna flashback into the first season's episodes when he runs out of "5 years ago flashbacks"
I wonder if Ollie is gonna flashback into the first season's episodes when he runs out of "5 years ago flashbacks"
Honestly until this past season I figured they might do something like that, but then with this season of Flash there's been barely any flashbacks, so maybe if the show makes it to 6 seasons, they'll just cut the flashbacks unless they're showing something relevant to the episode's plot.
"Oh you know that one weekend that we didn't show that season? well this happened..."
Well shit, [sp]one of Firestorms coolest powers(matter manipulation) was meant to have a scene in the finale tonight but it was ultimately cut because of length reasons.[/sp] Hopefully the Blu-Ray adds it back in since apparently tonights going to be missing 30 whole minutes. I really hope it's not [sp]rushed[/sp].

Holy shit. The Flash semi-finale just aired in the UK.
[sp]Whenever Flash and Arrow crossover it's "FUCK YEAH" excitement now. I'm not a DC fan. I only really like Batman from that whole universe. But I really dig these shows. I was literally just thinking as I started the episode how cool it would be to have Oliver fight Wells[/sp]

honestly, flash and arrow being linked are the stupidest thing ever
every time barry shows up in arrow they have to make a plot reason to get rid of him as quickly as possible, otherwise he can resolve the entire plot in like 1 second

I call it the Quicksilver effect.
Nah, Oliver can kick Barry's bum. [sp]he could've taken Wells on his own or at least with his team. So if Oliver can take down speedsters so could every other major Arrow villain[/sp]
If Barry tried to take down Ras, he would've got a sword right in the face and chest. I think even Merlyn and Slade wouldn't have much trouble breaking Barry apart. He's can do a job faster than Queen, but not always as effectively.
Well, I wasn't expecting that tonight.
[sp]Bunch of Legends of Tomorrow teases[/sp]
Flash Finale spoilers
[sp]Fuck that was good.
Eddie;_; I know that the wormhole will bring him back somehow but fuck, that felt worse than Tommy.
And that wormhole cliffhanger, holy shit. I wonder if this means Flash of Two Worlds as next seasons opening[/sp]
Comic/Finale spoilers
[sp]Also DAT JAY GARRICK HELMET, VIBE HINTING, FLASH MUSEUM AND KILLER FROST[/sp]
ARE YOU TELLING ME THEY MADE A FEATURE LENGTH FINALE AND CW DIDN'T AIR IT?
Yep, but the footage is out there so hopefully it's uploaded somewhere or on the Blu-Rays
Something else that didn't make it to air was
[sp]There was another deleted scene where Wells explained that when he stole the real Wells' body he absorbed his emotions. In effect he mourned Tess as if he were the real Wells. "Imagine... crying over a dead woman you never met, Detective?" [/sp]
[sp]Jay and the rest of the family would have kicked his shit in, I don't blame him[/sp]
Johns, Berlanti and Kreisberg really nailed this entire season and [sp]the Jay/Multiverse confirmation make it even better. [/sp]
[sp]Also that Vibe conversation was great, even had me chuckling "I'm sure I had good reason" but I'm excited at all these hints we're getting[/sp]
[sp]Literally every sing Barry/Dad(s) moment was great and every one had me a little emotional. And when he realised ha had to let his mom die my heart just broke. There were a load of points I was tearing up because of those and Eddie[/sp]
[sp]I just don't think my heart could take it if Eddie comes back as a villain, the guy was as much of a hero as Barry IMO. He even had a dad moment with Stein[/sp]
Comic [sp]Even if he is likely to be Cobalt Blue, especially since they specifically mentioned Cobalt on the Time Sphere and they had Rick read Chained Lightning[/sp]
That fucking finale is one of the best things to come out this year no matter what.
[editline]20th May 2015[/editline]
[sp]r.i.p my avatar[/sp]
[sp]But really, I was NOT expecting Eddie to shoot himself to save Barry. That was incredible both plot-wise and emotionally. We also saw Hawkgirl then, and Legends of Tomorrow teases when Barry was running. I wonder what will happen next and in what time will Legends of Tomorrow take place and everything.[/sp]
also [sp]I was surprised that Barry just destroyed Time Sphere instead of coming out of the wormhole without damaging anything and letting Eobard go[/sp]
Can't wait for a hilarious synposis for this episode, I imagine it will be very brief.
