Compared to first season, season 2 felt like a mess.
I see Adam Driver gained 100 pounds to play Keith
Finally finished it.
[sp]Ep7 felt like a massive letdown. When they first teased 8 it was interesting to see where that'd lead. Unfortunately it led to a bunch of stupid and pointless filler. There was so much potential with that arc but it boiled down to hurr we fight the system by killing cops and robbing gas stations to destroy the MAN and those that wronged us. It felt like they let a 12 year old write that episode.
That and the flaccid final showdown and painful sequel bait left a sour taste in my mouth after it was all said and done. Liked it overall but season 1 was better.[/sp]
Steve is fantastic in this season.
[sp]There was more to it then that. That arc was there to expand the backstory of Eleven. And also figure out both how to control her powers and her real motivations. Albeit cliche'd, (anger amplifies your powers) but it does have a point. Unfortunately unless Eight were to become a regular character,
it's going to be a bit filler-y since that character is a one off. [/sp]
I wasn't surprised at all [sp]bob is the one that fucking dies[/sp]
When [sp] he first entered it was too obvious of a trope he's gonna be dead[/sp]
I wasn't surprised at all [sp]bob is the one that fucking dies[/sp]
[sp]All i have to say is fuck that mop handle that fell, he would have been scot free if it wasn't for that fucking thing.[/sp]
End spoilers [sp]when the camera pans out from the Snow Ball, it flips into it's upside down analogue, and the lights look exactly the same. It seems to me that the upside down is closely tied and running parallel to our own world. The upside down "leaks" into our world, perhaps our world leaks into it?[/sp]
What I would like to know is [sp]Where do the tunnels factor into the upside down? Hopper was able to dig into them, and they were somehow connected to the mindflayer. Will is still seeing upside down Hawkins though, so clearly both places exist.[/sp]
More ending spoilers
[sp]Eleven closed the gate, but the chasm is still there. Still confusing the whole "where the fuck"
is the upside down. With the lab shut down, was the chasm sealed? Or is there a gaping hole in the ground to the upside down? Additionally, we saw in the first few episodes that they "burned"
the vines, and they walk through to upside down Hawkins and check on their little site. Isn't this the same area where the chasm was? What happened? I suspect the mindflayer got to Will and started forcing through, but that's all I can think of.[/sp]

Yeah watching the end of S2 it looks like it's more of a Zelda dark world sort of "worse version of our reality that's inherently tied to it" rather than a stricter alternate timeline thing like in, say, Fringe.
Here's how I interpreted the distinction between the upside down and our reality in S2. The shadow guy expands the gate for like hundreds of feet down into the right-side-up. The hole only really starts to expand a few feet below ground though. Hawkins lab is actually unaware of it until they start investigating Hopper's lead. Then they take out the floor, and install an elevator to gain access to the tunnels. The tunnels were dug out by the Shad-man, probably by sending out his weird vines through the gate to dig through. Critically, those tunnels aren't actually IN the upside down. They just create an environment similar to that of the upside down, because the vines and whatever the hell else is growing down there produce those spores. I think the idea is that Shadow the Hedgehog's trying to slowly turn our world into a world more like his. The chasm didn't lead down into the upside down, the chasm led down into the tunnels. Along the side of the chasm was the gate into the upside down, but further down just leads to the tunnels.
The gate was sealed, but the chasm itself is still there unless the government imported a million or so tons of dirt to fill it up.[/sp]

[sp]How the fuck was he supposed to know though, it would be good advice if it was actually just nightmares. That's on the doctors man, they convinced Will that that shit is just in his head so he thought it was just nightmares like the ones Bob had[/sp]

Oh my god why did I wait so long to check this out

Great. I wasn't sure they'd be able to follow up season 1 with something equally as good but they definitely pulled it off. Was sorta disappointed with the first episode of the season as I was watching it, as it jumps all over the place playing catch up with where all the characters are now. It felt like too much to put in just one episode instead of it being slower paced like s1 was. However, I ended up glad that they crammed all of that into the first episode so that the rest of the season could be filled with new goodness. Hats off to Paul Riser, Brett Gelman, and Sean Astin - they were all fantastic additions. Thought for sure [sp]Brett Gelman's character was going to end up being a Russian spy, what with all the vodka and such. Thought he was gathering intel under the ruse of his investigation and that he wasn't going to actually send all those copies of the tapes. Sorta disappointed that didn't happen tbh, would have fit right in with all the other 80s tropes.
Only one other small complaint: Sean Astin's death was a little over done. With all the other bodies that had been around, why did they only feast on his? Could have just left it at him getting mauled like the rest of the lab dudes. [/sp] No big deal, still loved it.
episode 7 and the whole [sp]Eight "sister" arc [/sp] seems so utterly pointless
episode 7 and the whole [sp]Eight "sister" arc [/sp] seems so utterly pointless
You could take out that episode totally and it wouldn't make a difference
[sp]I'm disappointed how much of eleven was stuck in a room. I wished it showed less of her being stuck[/sp]
episode 7 and the whole [sp]Eight "sister" arc [/sp] seems so utterly pointless
It was because it was a stand alone episode, and essentially just there to [sp]Develop eleven's moral code/learning how to boost/control her powers and learning her backstory[/sp] Those parts are important to her character, it shouldn't have been a stand alone episode in general cause it really ruined the flow from ep6 tense cliffhanger overall and was just a big tonal whiplash. I'm really glad there going back to just 8 episodes next season and hopefully no more stand alone episodes because this episode has been the most looked down upon among fans and critics, knowing the duffer's they tend to try and fix stuff they messed up on so it's very unlikely will we get a episode like this again.

They should had just pushed it out and made it like a short episode on its own, or just not place it right in the damn middle
The pacing of this season is really jumbled up. It also feels to me that the show is pacing way too fast, and characters [sp]just die without further explanation, it happened with Barb in Season 1, and if it wasn't for fans/jimmy fallon pointing out they might had just dumped it in S2, and then they did it again with goddamn MEWS. The cat is dead and the mum just happily get another cat like it didn't bothered her[/sp]

[sp]how come hopper was the only one who turned around when going into the upiside down? [/sp]
Watched this yesterday, it was allright but didn't leave the same impression as the first season. I'm still hopeful for a third season, and that they'll think about the mistakes they did on this one and improve upon them.
im only 2 episodes in so far and while the pacing in the first episode was kind of spotty, i think the second one tightened up. though i think in some regards i liked the season 2 premiere over the first.
other than that i like original characters about as much as i did in the first season even though (episode 2) [sp]i feel like eleven came back into the picture a bit too quickly, i still like the interactions between her and hopper a lot.[/sp]
(episode 2) [sp]also the scene between will and mike near the end was cute.[/sp]
not sure what to make of [sp]max[/sp] and [sp]billy[/sp] yet but [sp]one feels rather predictable right now and the other seems like a total douche who will add nothing to the overall plot.[/sp]
but i'm only 2 episodes out of 9 into the season so plenty can change in that time. overall i like it so far.
Just finished the second season and I must say I enjoyed it about as much as the first season. It wasn't perfect, but for what it's worth, it was good. I think the only thing I disliked was how much of a gloomy goose Mike was and the fact [sp]that he wasn't around as much, although that's forgivable since he was probably busy filming IT at the time[/sp]

Sort of overall S2 spoilers, [sp]Billy basically exists for the sake of giving more depth to max, and of course to have a greased-hair fight scene at the end like something out of footloose[/sp]

The scene with [sp]Mike's mom[/sp] was one of the best moments of the entire season. While I hated the character, he was totally worth it for that alone.

Tbh Mike's mum was full on milf
No idea how his dad even got together with her.
[Sp]you could also take out max and billy without affecting the plot, frankly I wished they weren't so shoehorned into the story[/sp]

I don't think they were shoehorned in, they just weren't used for some big payoff. [sp]They set them up to be something mysterious or ominous, and it just turns out Billy is a colossal cunt and his dad is a strict jackass and that's about it. No witness relocation ("This is your fault"), no russian spy shit, just a dysfunctional stepfamily.[/sp]
Holy fuck
SE2EP5:[sp]Will having the screaming seizure is something I never need to see again in my life.[/sp]
Just finished it. All I can say is fuck
[sp]I bet the thing that escaped Wills body will be what set off the events of season 3.[/sp]
