[sp]Was that not Dart?[/sp]
[sp]Was that not Dart?[/sp]
[sp]Probably means the smoke monster thing that escaped when they turned up the heat on him, not the worm from s1[/sp]
[sp]Was that not Dart?[/sp]
[sp]I think he's talking about the Mindflayer smoke that escaped at the end, not the tadpole at the beginning[/sp]

[sp]and then at the end of s3 Will pukes something out again and that'll set the events for season 4. It's just Will throwing up all the way down[/sp]

[Sp]so the series ends when they finish all the names from DND?[/sp]
[sp]Beholder when?[/sp]
Mega super ultra double tubular spoilers. Covers majority of S2
[sp]I think that the Demigorgon/Demi-Dogs aren't inherently "evil". As we saw with Dart, despite being part of the Mind Flayer's hive, he stopped and calmly approached Dustin, and just ate the 3 Musketeers despite being given a mission to kill the kids.
As they mentioned when explaining the Mind Flayer in the D&D manual, the monsters of the Upside Down might be "battle thralls" of some sort, as they're one of 2 organisms that we see, besides the Ceiling Buttholes that are there to spread the "spores"(?).
Also, the Mind Flayer is B Tier Kaiju and clearly didn't really seem to care all that much until Jane was closing the gate, and even then it kinda just lazily reached out to grab her. When we saw it grab will, it went in with ferocity and malice.
Judging by how we saw it hovering over the school, the Mind Flayer has taken a keen interest in the kids, especially Jane and Will (since it lost Will, and sees Jane as a threat).[/sp]
Review, but spoily
[sp]I felt that this season, though fantastic, had way too many stories going on at once that didn't really need to be here. Max and Billy, as characters, were interesting, but did nothing for the story other than add a handful of minutes for conflict but not much else. The story with Kali felt like a tangent and episode 7 was a drag, it was boring and the gang's characters were cartoonish in comparison to the others in the show.
Not as emotionally impactful and engaging as season 1, but I still loved it nonetheless. S1 set an incredibly high bar, to be fair.[/sp]
I really enjoyed this season. Seems like they got a pretty good budget and used it damn well. It was definitely more action packed but they also showed some backstory, probably to have material for next seasons. Not as many emotional/cute/teary scenes as the first season though. Instead we get some actually spooky moments.
A thought I have at the back of my mind, slight spoiler so I'll tag it.
[sp]We are just 2 seasons in, so it's too soon but you don't really have to fear about the main characters surviving. Then again maybe the show isn't really about going as far as killing your main characters. I could see it getting boring in the future though.[/sp]
So after watching S1 and S2 my friend and I have come up with a powers level chart:
Season 1:
1: [sp]Eleven[/sp]
2:[sp]Steve[/sp]
3:[sp]Demigorgon[/sp]
And now with the events of Season 2 we have
1:[sp] Eleven [/sp]
2:[sp] Billy [/sp]
3:[sp] Steve [/sp]
4:[sp] Demigorgon [/sp]
[Sp] We're getting hyped for S3 where Billy beats a Demigorgon with his bare hands[/sp] :v:
the max and billy arc exist to tick boxes on the checklist of 80s movie tropes
I just watched two seasons in two days.
I love this show so much.
"What are you gunna do, sit at home and listen to The Talking Heads and read Vonnegut?"
damn, she got me
[sp]So they've done Demogorgon and Mind Flayer, what's the next D&D monster they'll use?[/sp]

Technically we don't know that Steve is lower than Eleven on the chart
[sp]So they've done Demogorgon and Mind Flayer, what's the next D&D monster they'll use?[/sp]
"Dragon" is too generic, but maybe a Beholder or Lich? A lich could fit well if there's some infected creature lording over the Upside-Down.

[sp]Don't you think the Mind Flayer is still out there? [/sp]

[Sp] Billy was the dragon and Steve was the knight guy in that video game [/sp]
Man, [sp]Steve is so fucking badass, like holy shit. Loved how much of a bro he has become this season. I just wish he would've kicked Billy's ass some more instead of taking that plate to the head and getting pummeled. Also, pairing him up with my man Dustin was just great.[/sp]
Overall I really loved this season.

[sp]I loved Steve's character development and the way he ends up helping the kids. He really feels like he's grown up a bit. The pairing with Dustin was great too[/sp]

[sp] Honestly, that moment when the first Demigorgon pack attacked everyone in the bus, I thought Billie was going to show up looking for Max and start kicking the shit out of them.[/sp]
I really enjoyed this season more than the first one tbh, the characters were all extremely well crafted and even [sp]the private investigator was loveable despite how annoying I thought he'd be in the beginning[/sp]
One thing that I don't understand how it even was considered good writing in any way that I just had to laugh at was [sp]when Will scribbled on hundreds of pieces of paper that were basically just two lines, and somehow Joyce is able to line them up and create this super complex map running along the walls/floors/cieling?? And then on top of that when they use PICTURES of the drawings to find the "weakness" of the Mindflayer? It makes no sense and there definitely had to have been a better way of portraying that type of information[/sp]
Other than that ridiculousness, good season!

:worried:
Man I am so fucking happy with this show. It just does everything so well and I can't think of a single complaint I have with it. I know some people are complaining about [sp]what the point of episode 7 was, but I think people are forgetting that there's meant to be several more seasons of this. It was just further world-building really, tho I don't think it was totally pointless since it did play a role in the finale[/sp]
can't wait for more of this

Even then [sp]it still felt shoehorned and they could had placed it earlier instead of right when its swarming with anus dogs[/sp]
I think I would have preferred it intercut with the normal episodes instead of a standalone. It's the only episode that I felt bored watching, it might not have been so bad with some other stuff going on between the scenes.

[sp]I think the thing they were trying to avoid was constant mood whiplash every few minutes. Tonally, it is radically different from every other episode. By the point it was happening, shit had already hit the fan in Hawkins. It would have fit earlier in the season, but then then we would have had to rush Eleven's relationship with Hopper to get to where she wanted to find her mother.[/sp]
Okay [sp] Bob's death was dumbest, most frustrating thing in this show. He just stands there, like dolt, while monsters are chasing him. I mean c'mon.[/sp]

i mean [sp]he didn't think they were actively chasing him at that exact moment since he just slammed that door on them (the door was a pull, not a push type door). didn't that one come from somewhere else?? he was just relieved to have escaped the ones chasing him and needed to rest for a bit since his fat ass had just been running nonstop for awhile, and when he turned around and saw he was back with the rest of the group he let his guard down. the dude was always a bit of a goof but his death wasn't that dumb
EDIT: yea just rewatched it. he stopped because he thought he trapped them behind the door, and the monster that got him suddenly came from somewhere else entirely. if there's anything to bitch about it's the show pulling a Walking Dead and magically teleporting a monster near him without anyone noticing or hearing it approach so they can just kill off a character lol[/sp]
