They got a cool word for the upside down in the first season, so for the second one they decided they needed to push for another cool word but all they got was "now memories" and it was terrible.
nah, "demodogs" is the word
"Mind Flayer" is alright, even if the implementation is WAY more coincidental and convenient than Demogorgon was.
Now memories is dumb. But honestly the only real low point was [sp]Hotline Jabroni[/sp]
I was honestly 100% expecting Billy to say 'Nigger' in that one scene with Max, I'm surprised they didn't do that tbh. Would have given the scene much more weight imo. In fact, looking back on it, he didn't use any racial slur or make any overt reference to race, which is kinda weird and jarring considering the scene is all about him being racist.
I never put it together that he was actually racist, until now. When he looked at Max, and said something along the lines of "You stay away from people like that." I thought they would eventually expand on that more, beyond being just racist, but they never did. I jokingly thought to myself during that scene "Wow, this character is so racist."
I'm guessing we'll get more depth to the character next season, and this trait of his will get some explanation.
Max and Billy got super shafted in the characterization department tbh.
The few times we got to see Billy go about his day were some of the best character moments on the show and Max didn't really serve much of a purpose aside from being the cursed woman who disrupts the boys' club.
It seemed like they were gonna do something interesting with [sp]her and Mike growing to appreciate each other[/sp] and then they just dropped that so that [sp]Eleven could have her "BAWW I ONLY SAW PART OF THE CONVERSATION AND NOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE ANYMORE"[/sp] moment.
I'm on episode 5 of season 1 and sorry but what a disappointment. It was going so well.
[sp]I can suspend my disbelief that Will somehow got away from the monster and even that he survived without starving for a week in the upside down, fine. I can suspend my disbelief for El to live in someone's house for a week and not be found.
But holy shit, the chief finds out about a conspiracy and just dives in head first into a heavily secured building? Beats up a security guard, takes his card and goes in deeper? What the fuck is his plan? Even if they would be holding that kid and he found him by some miracle he would never make it out of there with him.
Jonathan instead of going to his mother when he finds out she wasn't making shit up about the monster goes monster hunting and spends the night at Nancy's. What if the monster attacked his mom again that night?
But Nancy takes the fucking cake. She was in a forest and found a dying, bleeding deer. Something took the deer from underneath their feet and dragged it away. Then SOMEHOW she and Jonathan get separated and SOMEHOW when she calls him he can't hear her or doesn't answer, and then she finds some kind of shit/puke/bile/rot/slime inside a tree and she STICKS HER HEAD IN IT. What the flying fuck? Why? We the audience know about portals but she doesn't. Why would she do that? It makes absolutely no fucking sense from her perspective. It would be just as reasonable if she found a roadkill and stuck her face in that.[/sp]
I don't know what the fuck was up with that episode but the show went from smart to "lets split up and have sex when the serial killer is hunting the college kids" level of cleverness.
Nancy & The Tree definitely makes it onto the top 10 list of tv characters dumb decisions. "That's the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. Maybe I should crawl in there. Alone."
[sp]When Jonathan meets the KISS girl at the halloween party, I thought they were setting her up to be a new character and love interest for him.[/sp]
[sp]When Jonathan meets the KISS girl at the halloween party, I thought they were setting her up to be a new character and love interest for him.[/sp]
That was Siouxsie Sioux you monster, and I 100% agree she should have been a character.
Also, this show has an obsession with characters being way to eager to stick their hands in gross shit. I avoid touching rotted trees on the off chance I get some kinda brain amoeba but these fucks just bury their faces in piles of glowing melanoma juice without a second thought.
Fuck the Demogorgon, make next season's monster a moray eel or swarm of botflies that hide in the slime, it'll be the most threatening shit ever.

Guess that's one way to announce it. :v:
Here's a full announcement from EW.
Netflix announced the news Friday morning, ensuring the gang in Hawkins, Indiana, will return for at least one more sci-fi adventure. Previously, creators The Duffer Brothers suggested they plan for the show to ultimately run for four seasons “and then out.”
There were also a couple bits of news absent from the announcement: There was no indication of when the show will return, or for how many episodes. Oftentimes such details are omitted from a renewal release, so one shouldn’t make any assumptions. But when Netflix renewed Stranger Things for season 2 in August of last year, the announcement was coupled with a 2017 return date and the episode count. That both pieces of info were absent very likely means those details are still being decided (we’re told season 3 is currently being written, which means production wouldn’t likely start until spring at the earliest).
EDIT

Didn't Netflix basically okay them for 4 Hawkins seasons anyways?
I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really hope Season 3 isn't about [sp]numbers 01-10[/sp].
Like, I might not even bother tuning in if the only S2 episode of any consequence for Season 3 was [sp]the throwaway New Mutants shit with all the bad character actors[/sp].
[editline]1st December 2017[/editline]
I want to know more about [sp]the Upside Down, considering they imply it was its own dimension before the shadow monster got to it. So it's not just "evil world", it was its own parallel universe with its own animals and lifeforms before this cosmic cloud guy rolled in and made everything start spewing allergies everywhere. It'd be pretty neat to see more of the Demogorgon life cycle or what other kind of creatures live there.[/sp]
Not that everything needs to be explained, but that tease was easily the most interesting part of Season 2 for me.

From what we know so far, there going back to a "small scale" story for s3, basically more about character development and "character centered stories" and it being more "intimate". Here's that article again in case anyone missed it the first time around.
[sp]If there is anything that characterizes the distinction between Season 1 and 2 of “Stranger Things,” it’s that the breadth of the world is explored more. However, the Duffer Brothers hinted that a third season will focus more on character development than on expanding the scope of the show, which we got plenty of in Season 2. “It’s not necessarily going to be bigger in scale,” said Matt Duffer. “What I am really excited about is giving these characters an interesting journey to go on.”
Season 3 is still so early in its stages of development that it hasn’t even gotten an official greenlight. “It’s really just Matt and me working with some writers and figuring out where it’s going to go,” said Ross Duffer.
Yet, they were able to say that the new season is going to be “something almost weirdly more intimate” and “a lot of fun.”[/sp]

[sp]I feel like were probably going to dive into that stuff but not too much, i think it's mostly going to be dealing with brenner with some lore details on the other kids, cause quite honestly i don't think the test subjects they started off with 1-7 did not survive the tests,
but never say never i guess.[/sp]
Honestly I'm fine with them scaling the scope back to focus more on character development, considering there was so little of it in Season 2.
Honestly season 3 could be nothing but the kids hanging out and doing kid stuff and I'd still watch it.

I wonder if that was their original intention, but they started liking Billy too much? It's a lot easier for them to redeem him now
[sp]Also, I forgot to comment on this earlier but damn, the scene of Billy and his stepfather was powerful as fuck. Yeah yeah, it's a basic ass setup for a scene, but that actor really sold it[/sp]
In terms of being a character I gave a shit about [sp]Billy was sooooo much better than Max. She was so boring holy fuck[/sp]

[sp]It was his actual father. It was a stepmother, which he didn't respect, and his dad got pissed about.[/sp]
Dustin is my step-cousin (? Hes my stepdads nephew) guys be careful what you say about homeboy. He lives a few miles from my town. Not that I've ever met him :v:
s2 finale spoilers [sp]so i guess they just forgot about the dead demodog in the freezer? the end has a 1 month jump in time and the mom never opened it up? is there a one month old rotting corpse in the house?[/sp]
Just finished s2. I really liked it. I think the guy who played Will was really incredible. The only things that bothered me: [sp]the drawings. It just felt like a lazy plot device to me and I found it odd how Will drew so much in so little time. I know he was ultra-fast because he was possessed but he covered the damn house! Also wasn't Dart supposed to get hurt by the light? He seemed to have no problem walking outside when Dustin captured him.[/sp]
I have a question for anyone who may have a theory:
[sp]In the first season, we have the Demogorgon passing through walls into the upside-down and vice versa, drawn by blood.
What we don't see in the second season are any of the demodogs (or I think there's a demogorgon later, I don't remember) using this ability.
If that ability isn't innate, why isn't it? How did the first Demogorgon do it? Is it just because he was heralding from the Upside-down? Or did they just forget they could do that?[/sp]

[sp]Well recall that in S1 the demagorgon went into the upside down to eat its prey. In S2 the demadogs all just went back underground into the tunnel network. It was the same environment as the upside down, and it was safe to travel long distances without being seen in. It provided basically every benefit of being in the upside down without having to spend whatever amount of energy is required to flip over to the upside-down. Dustin's demadog might have benefited from being able to go to the upside down to get out of being confined, but by the time it really felt threatened it was already underground and fully grown so it just busted a hole in the wall and fucked off to the tunnels like the rest of them.[/sp]

[sp]They weren’t fully grown, so maybe they hadn’t figured it out yet.[/sp]

[sp]maybe this ability can only be used by a fully grown demogorgon, the demodogs are still babies[/sp]

Like the first two episodes of Season 2 cover it.
