They are revealing wayyyyy too much with these trailers/"exclusive clips!".
That's why I've been ignoring them. Got a Facebook alert this morning that they were live streaming, it was an old CRT television cycling through 1984 programming like an ad for The Terminator and stuff like that. After a couple minutes it froze and I went back to work.
ftfy
That's correct, my bad
ey its out. pretty good so far and it starts off strong. the ghostbusters scene is hilarious.
Wow dude spoiler tag that. We didn't know it was going to be here hilarious.
I'm impressed at how effortlessly this makes me feel nostalgic for a period of time I wasn't there to see. I'm also impressed at how unnerving it continues to be
I won't have time for a few days to watch it, is it good?
I won't have time for a few days to watch it, is it good?
Watched it straight through, it was pretty good.
Just got done with it and i'd give it a 9/10 just on the solid character work done this season, everyone had a part to play in the overall story and every actor stole each scene they were in, it was great ! Despite 1 weak episode, the duffer's really pulled this one off and quite honestly surpassed the first season in general. [sp]fuck that mop.[/sp]
binge watched all of season 2 over the course of the early morning and i don't regret a minute of it. surpassed my expectations by a ton, what a fantastic second season this was
Dude Steve's such a homie [sp]it's finger-lickin good[/sp] lmao, I love him so much. Glad he seems more like a regular now (though I'm only on episode 1)
Finally finished it. [sp]Ep7 felt like a massive letdown. When they first teased 8 it was interesting to see where that'd lead. Unfortunately it led to a bunch of stupid and pointless filler. There was so much potential with that arc but it boiled down to hurr we fight the system by killing cops and robbing gas stations to destroy the MAN and those that wronged us. It felt like they let a 12 year old write that episode. That and the flaccid final showdown and painful sequel bait left a sour taste in my mouth after it was all said and done. Liked it overall but season 1 was better.[/sp]
Dude Steve's such a homie [sp]it's finger-lickin good[/sp] lmao, I love him so much. Halfway through, enjoying it so far... though I'm not as fond of [sp]weird shadowy smoke monster as a villain, compared to the Demogorgon. Guess we got Dart though, so...[/sp]
season 2 fucking RULED
Just finishing it up now - [sp]I think it's about as good as S1, it felt... circular, in a sense, not formulaic but like a callback in some ways to the first season? But great character development. Also, I remember last year people discussing the end of S1 with Nancy ending up with Steve rather than Jonathan, and how some people thought it worked better that way (rather than "the nerd gets the girl"). Turns out it ends up the other way around, but I think it worked fine, it was an organic change rather than melodramatic. A happy ending all around! Except... [/sp] [editline]28th October 2017[/editline] Also, RIP [sp]Bob. I was kind of skeptical of him at first but he really did prove himself to be a solid guy. The writers seem to like killing off likeable characters, don't they?[/sp]
For the first few episodes [sp]I always expected Bob to be a G-man because he was too likeable[/sp]
I'm still rewatching the first season, oh godd
Season 2 feels like it's all over the place. yeah there's an over arching plot but it just feels suuuuper scattered and not in a good way.
Got 3 episodes left of season 2, but not really been enjoying it myself. Writing has been very predictable, and the motivation and choices made by the characters have been very shallow and uninteresting, and at times completely nonsensical. Anyone else had the same feeling? [editline]28th October 2017[/editline] It feels like they started by writing the overall story progression first, and then tried to force the characters to fit in with that story.
Yeah, season 2 just isn't as good as season 1, which is a shame. Probably a victim of it's own hype. S1 was so good because it came out of nowhere, it was Netflix trying something out of left field and zany and it's now their biggest TV show, I think it's been crushed by the weight of it's own success. Also, didn't the Duffers say s2 would divulge more on what the Upside Down actually is? [sp] because it didn't, it was just there again. [/sp]

[/sp]
I've only gotten halfway through S2 and didn't click your spoiler, but my speculation: S1 spoilers: [sp]They bring up the many-worlds theory, which is a concept in quantum mechanics where they justify the probabilistic nature of the universe at a quantum level by saying that every reality which has as non-zero probability of existing, does exist (I think, anyway. Anyone actually qualified could correct me if I'm off the mark, in any case that's the sci-fi they seem to be operating on for the show). The upside-down is one of those other realities. The extremely concerning thing though is that the upside down isn't some completely bizarre world that clearly split off from ours millennia ago, it's a decaying, nasty version of our world. We see Will's fort in the upside down in Season 1, and all the buildings in Hawkins are still there. That means the realities split off literally within the last few years. So the big question is what the fuck happened to it? I assumed some kind of horrible sci-fi chemical warfare between nations in the upside down, or maybe the research lab managed to decimate an entire alternate reality on accident.[/sp]

[/sp]
You're right about the last bit, but [sp]I don't mind too much, since it would ruin the mystery, I guess. I think it was implied that the Upside Down is a dimension "infected" by the "virus" of the Mindflayer.[/sp] As for hype, I think it ends up suffering from the same problem with HL3, where the first installment is good enough that it hypes people up in anticipation of the sequel, but the hype inflates their expectations to proportions that are difficult or impossible to achieve. I liked it, but I don't think it was better than S1 or did anything significantly new - but then again, that's not really a bad thing. It seems reasonable to assume that in closely-related timelines they'd be doing similar things.[/sp]
yeah, this season lacked a lot of what made s1 good imo. it was still a good watch but nowhere near the same quality. i also dread the idea of S3/S4 lol, it's gonna feel so forced
I hope a third season is the end, tbh. If it wasn't for [sp]the looming Mindflayer at the very end of S2E9[/sp], it would've been a good send-off IMO.
Is it just me or did the scenes with the Halloween party make anyone cringe?
Man episode 8 [sp]made me fucking bawl my eyes like three separate times. Once when they were trying to get Will to remember, twice when Eleven came back, and a third time when I went to the reddit discussion page and someone quoted the conversation between Frodo and Sam about being heroes in tales.[/sp] It's just the lack of sleep. I swear, I'm not a bitch.

They wanted to go for that big blockbuster feel of a big movie sequel for s2, but from what i've heard so far there going back to the regular 8 episodes for s3. Honestly as much i loved the big movie sequel feel this season gave off, it will probably do them some good to get back to a small scale story for s3 that will likely set up the final season's big story there planning to end on.
Just finished, some comments: [sp]It was definitely still good though the first season still has my heart. I'm sure people have commented on this already but I do agree that Season 1 being more grounded and fresh made it better than Season 2 but you know, S2 is still really good, like an 8/10. My boy Steve got done dirty. He loses Nancy and gets beaten up by Billy? You kidding me man, what was the point of showing Steve get bullied by the Billy if Steve doesn't get to knock his fucking lights out. Jonathan gets to have his revenge by fucking Steve up last season (which still makes no sense, Steve would have clocked Jonathan easy) but Steve can't beat Billy up? I swear to god if there's no rematch in season 3 where Steve wins Ima have a fucking fit. Glad Steve is starting to become his own person though, no longer defined as just Nancy's boyfriend, but that also worries me about where his character will be taken from here. Hope the writers don't fuck this up. Great acting this season. Lots of really impressive moments like anything with Will Byers, Mike getting mad at Hopper, Hopper and El's fight, just pretty fucking good acting overall you know? except for that one xmen episode lmao jesus christ did they run out of money for actors so they just pulled some amateurs from the local community theater, what the hell happened there? Needs more Mike and Eleven but I understand why there's less Mike and Eleven so I guess we're good Sean Astin, man, I fucking miss you. Do more shit man. I liked the new pairings they decided to go with this time around. Eleven and Hopper/Mike with Will and Joyce/Steve with Dustin all solid pairings. Max is a fucking pointless character what the hell fuck Nancy and Jonathan. Their scenes with the PI was pretty good though[/sp]

It seems to me that the upside down is closely tied and running parallel to our own world. The upside down "leaks" into our world, perhaps our world leaks into it?[/sp] What I would like to know is [sp]Where do the tunnels factor into the upside down? Hopper was able to dig into them, and they were somehow connected to the mindflayer. Will is still seeing upside down Hawkins though, so clearly both places exist.[/sp] More ending spoilers [sp]Eleven closed the gate, but the chasm is still there. Still confusing the whole "where the fuck" is the upside down. With the lab shut down, was the chasm sealed? Or is there a gaping hole in the ground to the upside down? Additionally, we saw in the first few episodes that they "burned" the vines, and they walk through to upside down Hawkins and check on their little site. Isn't this the same area where the chasm was? What happened? I suspect the mindflayer got to Will and started forcing through, but that's all I can think of.[/sp] [sp]I'm not sure I care for what they did to the demigorgon, definitely cool to see more of it/them, but it's value as a monster I feel kinda dropped a little when they're hivemind dogs. Also a shame that we didn't see one fully grown except for that pan of Dart. [/sp]
