This should show them that they need some fresh blood working on a new one and making it much much better.
After no later than a week of the movie's US debut, Producer Lorenzo "explains" the ending scene for the Last Knight. https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/spoiler-interview-with-lorenzo-di-bonaventura-transformers-the-last-knight-producer-on-origin-of-quintessa/38735/ This is the worst kind of explanation I've ever scene. This not only makes the ending worse than it already is, it demolishes everything Transformers as a franchise stands for. I don't care if it's just for the Bayformers movies, this has got to be the worst thing to happen since Kiss Players. If the scene by itself didn't solidify me not watching these films anymore, this article did. Paramount and Bay can go bankrupt for all I care.
Most of you never seen The Island.... terrible.
I kinda liked The Island. It was somewhat a remake of Logan's Run.
The Last Knight continues to sink deeper into the rabbit hole. Not even China liked it. By the first week of the premiere numbers dropped by 82% http://screenrant.com/transformers-5-china-box-office-drop/
According to a report by Forbes on Friday, The Last Knight’s second Friday in Chinese theaters dropped by a staggering 82.2 percent, from $48 million including midnight showings in week 1 to just $8.5 million in week 2. Forbes’ Rob Cain describes the plunge as the “most spectacular Friday-to-Friday drop I can recall for a wide release in China.”
By the last weekend, more box office numbers in China dropped by 72% https://www.forbes.com/sites/robcain/2017/07/02/transformers-short-circuits-with-massive-78-shock-in-2nd-weekend/#11ac182d5fcf
The 78 percent first weekend-to second decline ranks as one of the biggest in Chinese movie history, and even stands in rank infamy against North America’s worst second weekends as well. Only two movies with wide releases (2,000+ •screens) across the U.S. and Canada have ever topped The Last Knight’s death spiral: the Ben Affleck-Jennifer Lopez toxic mess known as Gigli, which plummeted 81.9 percent in its second weekend in 2002, and the 2009 Friday the 13th reboot, which tumbled 80.4 percent.
Paramount's CEO isn't feeling so smug now is she? I want to believe that this will be a wake-up call to stop making the same shit 4 more times.
Let this be the last time I ever cover Bayformers, because I really don't give a damn if the Bumblebee movie next year is being run by the guy who did Kubo and the Two Strings, I'm sick by this point. After three weeks of Imax and regular viewings worldwide: Domestic: $113 Million (Contribution 25%) Foreign: $339 Million (Contribution 75%) Worldwide Total: $452 Million Keep in mind that the foreign market is still considered a bomb to Hollywood execs as TF4 made a billion overseas.
It flopped holy fuck
You'd think when they make a bajillion dollars from the last films you'd think they would put more effort into the sequel. More money put into CGI for more scenes with actual Transformers? Video game tie-ins that surprisingly surpasses the films despite being mediocre games on their own? A better crew? Nope! Let's just throw a shitton of money on the ads, the toys, and getting Anthony Hopkins mixed into this! Surely putting less money into the actual production of TF5 won't backfire at the least.
