ID-0 is finally out on Netflix in case you feel like watching a good show.
So can anyone explain to me why orcs in manga/anime are always large pig-like creatures? There's a bit of discrepancy there between the western idea and I don't know why they call em orcs.
Also I think I've now read two manga with the same fucking thing
-Male Person dies
-person resurects in generic fantasy world
-has the power to steal powers from things they ate.
-Starts of with ugly goblins and levels them all up to hobgoblins, who're insanely hot.
-Subjugates wolf people and then other people.
-Main character looks really girly.
The concept has promise (even if it's a little easy) but it's executed badly.

As far as I can tell the reason is "because orcs were pig-men in Wizardry", because Wizardry was really popular in Japan. Same reason why Japanese kobolds are wolfmen and not lizard people. If you want to predate that, because first-edition DnD orcs are pig-faced.

Because japanese dnd style fantasy is based off of the original version of dnd, where pigman orcs were a thing.

I was reading.. ah, i forgot what it was called, but the MC respawned as a goblin, leveled up to become a hobgoblin variant (he also had strange tattoos), and then became an ogre variant (Ogre is of course, quite pretty)
It showed a lot of promise when he was a goblin, but anything past that was very safe power-fantasy shit and I lost interest after the initial [I]Sword Art Online Syndrome[/I]
Slime's the same I think. Once he gained human form, I knew it was going to be shit. I caught up but I don't think I'll read any more.

First one sounds like re:monster, it started out as a kinda average isekai and got worse and worse as things started shifting to harem shenanigans, rape, more rape, and torture if you didn't like rape.
Slime tensai was defiantly better from what I remember, but I haven't read it in likely a year or longer so dunno if it's just average or not.

I only read the first volume and I already think it's there. But the only reason I even looked at it was because it seemed like it would be really stupid.
Reading that Slime one is like sitting in a dnd game with that one player who argues esoteric mechanics and semantics and vague interpretations of rules to explain why his character actually took no damage and killed everything without even rolling for it.

I think there's more than 2 (or even 5) with the whole steal power from what they eat. Was one of them leaning on the pro-monster rape side?
Houseki no Kuni lived up to my expectations in both the quality of the show and the quality of the animation. It took Orange to come around and make a CG-animated show that actually uses the strengths of 3D animation and have the show be actually animated. Characters actually move all of the time for one thing.
It's a hell of a step up from every other CG animation studio, even Sanzigen who have good models but mediocre animation most of the time.

even rwby fans will tell you a lot of things about it are bad but some of the fight scenes are well animated but in general its waifu/mainstream trash

it had okay fight scenes once but then the animator died so now there's literally nothing to like unless you enjoy bad animation and even worse writing

I've been keeping up with the latest scanlations and it's still harem garbage. Any female he hasn't boned, he will drug them until they want to bone. It's real garbage and uninteresting.
Just got back from NGNL Zero at the theatre. It was the dub, but it wasn't a bad dub. It was a pretty interesting and enjoyable movie, and unlike the American release, there was no pre-show interview with the VAs that spoiled the entire movie, but that might just be with the subbed version and not the dub. I'm debating if I want to go see it subbed next weekend too or not.
How did I fall into actually reading slice of life stuff without realizing.

But I think things were different when elves got involved.
Both RE:Monster and Slime have such fucking unbelievably unrelatable characters. Like, typically, you'll get a blank slate (or if the author's got talent, a magnificent bastard). But instead you've got bishies (drawn disgustingly) with game-breaking power and no intelligence other than that which is used for cheesing powers. Like it's fucking child's play to make a harem protag, yet they still fucking fail.
