i don't know about you but an over the top comedy about a yakuza living with a telekinetic little girl isn't exactly normal life to me
You don't know my life.
Seriously though let's be fair, since when is slice of life being over the top comedy not allowed to be in both :v:

it can, but for slice of life it's kinda necessary for it to be a normal life
something like nichijou is an over-the-top comedy slice of life but that's also just about a bunch of schoolgirls whereas hinamatsuri has a much less normal setting, so i wouldn't call it slice of life
i mean otherwise a show like cowboy bebop would be slice of life since most of the episodes are just another moment in the crew's ordinary everyday life
And to be fair, after the timeskip, it becomes way more slice of life.
well that i wouldnt know about, i stopped following it pretty soon after the timeskip
Animegataris was...
Good? Stereotypical? I dunno. The OP was pretty good, anyway.
Umaru R's OP and ED are cute. More CDs to import.
BlendS was cute/weird. Tsundere girl is best. Followed by Sadist.
Really? I distinctly remember
-Him killing a load of captive rape prisoners to stop further crimes
-Him convincing the goblins to not rape a batch of humans, said humans go on to become harem figures.
But I think things were different when elves got involved.
Both RE:Monster and Slime have such fucking unbelievably unrelatable characters. Like, typically, you'll get a blank slate (or if the author's got talent, a magnificent bastard). But instead you've got bishies (drawn disgustingly) with game-breaking power and no intelligence other than that which is used for cheesing powers. Like it's fucking child's play to make a harem protag, yet they still fucking fail.
Spoiler alert I guess...[sp]The human girls join the harem but then he captures a bunch of elves and goes "yeah whatever, I'll just toss them to the dogs." Which he literally does since they've recruited Kobolds or something. After this point, everyone goes to the rape dungeon.[/sp]
What really astonishes me about this manga/LN/webcomic/whatever the original incarnation and others like it is that it reads like someone jotted down some notes or dot points for an "original story" that they had and then went "fuck it" and published it. Like somebody just plain forgot to write the prose that goes in between. Or else it reads like something a (bad) 5th grader would write: "We did this, and then we did this, then this happened, and then this happened, and then we did this...."
I unironically like Isekai stuff but why does this genre seem to let really terrible writers publish whatever crap they want? Is this just how the media industry works in Japan now? Whatever webcomic/phone novel/doodle on a schooldesk that somehow gets popular just gets a LN/manga/anime made? Is this trend going to continue for whatever thing becomes popular next?

Speaking of dumb trends, I watched the first episode of the second season of Love Live Sunshine. I don't know why they're still pushing the "save the school" thing because it always seemed like the weakest, most contrived aspect of the series. In the case of Sunshine, it's also the thing most blatantly stolen from the original series too so I don't know why they'd double down on it.
Kekkai Sensen S2 nailed the first episode, let's hope it doesn't become a .5 episode nightmare again with a 3 month delay on the finale.
Garo: Vanishing Line, not sure what to think. It's a lot more gruesome than the other 2 anime, never watched the live action show so I'm not sure how it compares.
Ancient Magus Bride is already shaping up to be fan-fucking-tastic
Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou is reminding me a little bit of Made in Abyss, not sure what to think about the first episode other than it's cute but we'll see.
Gintama is Gintama, exactly what you'd expect
The first episode of Fireball Humorous is out and it's good, but it's a huge shame that it's only three episodes long when the episodes are two and a half minutes long.
Reading Goblin slayer, its fucking dope
Any suggestions for similar anime/manga?
Does anybody read Murcielago? It's been some months since chapter 52, i'm worried that something bad has happened to the title. I feel it's one of the most enjoyable mangas i have read for years and it's not related to how good or bad it is. I love majority of the characters :\

The obvious one would be Berserk (manga)

Generally when scans stop, its either scanaltors had to give up due to to much work, the manga got an offical release or its gone on haitus

Isekai Reincarnation stuffs are generally easy to write because you can put any power you want on the MC since you can just go "He just died and got powers from gods", and you pretty much don't have to think of any backstory beforehand. Also since the authors can't write actual human interactions so they just put the MC in an Isekai where almost all the other people are dumber than the MC because he have "knowledge from modern world", and so the readers can self-insert and feel good about it.
A lot of these stuffs are from syosetu.com, where some web novel got successful so so people just copied ideas off those I guess, and publishers tends to just look for stuff that are high ranked on the site. iirc the top 10 novels of all time on that site are all Isekai / Reincarnation stuffs. I think only 1 novel on the list is not isekai stuff, but still reincarnation, which was about becoming the antagonist in a shoujo manga and it was actually pretty funny, although I haven't been catching up on that.
To be fair some of the good isekai's are the ones where they dont get an op power, one example would be the where the mc just gets the power to access an amazon clone thing, basically becomes a cook though he does get a fenrier

does hidive have the licences to the shows it host? they have some older shows like LOGH, my main compliant about crunchy was if you dont watch simulcast your wasting money
actually i binged through KUMO DESU GA, NANI KA? and it's pretty swell/seems somewhat intelligent for the reincarnation/computer game genre.
Four volumes in and she's yet to work out magic, and more risky is that she's yet to gain human form (i'm starting to wonder if she will because that'd be such a tonal shift), and she's been weak for the overwhelming majority of what I've read so far. Every time she gets more powerful bad shit seems to happen and the clock of "tabboo" ticks up. But her fighting monsters has almost always been her smarts vs stronger opponents, and a lot of running away and hiding, which is really good.

I love this series but I feel as though it's merely delaying the onset of complete OP-ness.
Well, I think she's basically going to be unapproachable-evil because the game'll tell everyone she's done bad things, and no monster so far has shown her a will to communicate. Also after her last evolution [sp] she basically discovered God exists, and it's a group of GMs, so if she gets too powerful she'll just have more powerful monsters thrown her way, cause that's what GM's do. IIRC she's still worth squat compared to the more powerful dragons[/sp]
Also that fight with the monkeys was fucking bawler so I have good confidence that the writer isn't a hack. I enjoy the dual will power and it'll probably tide off any need to socialise. It's not perfect but it's not going to be trash tier generic anytime soon.
Also, the character, as much as I enjoy her, is supposed to be socially inept, so in the event she gets followers or a beautiful human form, it'll more likely be laughs and cringe rather than some half arsed harem/collect the competent. The Taboo'll certainly hang over her. It'll be a massive tonal shift because she's only talked to herself so far, but with her titles it'll have to happen, and i [del]hope[/del] think it'll be alright
You guys really should read the (kumo-chan)webnovel, it's fantastic overall and likely close to finishing honestly.

I have read this one, and this one is okay. I think I have gotten to around 300 or so chapters but the mc is still op in the story anyway. Also tbh I liked the part about the other dudes who got summoned along with the mc more than parts about the mc himself lol.
Anyway most web novels are still trash, whether the mc have op powers or not, but I still enjoy checking them out every now and then because you can find some pretty ridiculous stuffs out of them sometimes.

the best part of kumo-chan is the manga adaptation.
After watching the original Symphogear years ago and not really liking it I watched season 2 because everyone said it was better. And it was! I honestly expected to bounce off of it like season 1 which I never thought was terrible but just kind of mediocre and overrated, but I had a good time with this one. It finally felt like the show everyone told me season 1 was, and the animation budget was higher than that of a ham sandwich unlike s1s. Also, Chris is best girl.
More importantly, I watched a ridiculous 90s OVA about real life japanese rock band Seikima II, where the KISS wannabes were depicted as actual demons from hell fighting the god of war for control of earth. It wasn't really good, but I highly recommend checking out Seikima II Humane Society: Jinrui Ai ni Michita Shakai because it was hilarious.
Wouldn't really call Seikima II KISS wannabees since they started pmuch at the same time, and have more legitimacy to the face paint that KISS lifted from japanese theater :v:
Speaking of Seikima II though, I still adore this cover by kobayashi yuu

Maybe by the time you finish gx and axz, season 5 will have finished

Uhhh, KISS formed in 1973 and Seikima II formed in '82, that isn't quite "the same time"

S1 was terrible and even though I love symohogear I will still make fun of s1 and the bad guy's motivation. Like Charm said though, watch the rest of the series each season only gets better and better.
Just finished Turn A Gundam, it was pretty good, really liked the protagonist, the only other Gundam series I've seen was Iron Blooded Orphans which I didn't like that much.
Not sure which one to watch next, I've heard Reconguista in G is okay, so I might see that one next.

Watch 0079, it aged like fine wine and isn't dated at all besides the wonky animation. I think it's the best Gundam series by a long shot. After that you can watch Zeta then ZZ and CCA in that order, but Zeta is divisive and ZZ is more so and not particularly good in my opinion. CCA wraps up the early UC. While it's recommended to watch 0079 first, you can watch the 0080, 0083, and 08th MS Team OVAs independently. If you don't feel like watching those, Victory Gundam is very good and can be watched standalone due to being many years later and doesn't have Zeon in it. Unicorn is complete garbage with an inflated sense of self-importance and delusions of grandeur for a story that doesn't actually mean anything in the UC thanks to F91 already existing, but it has good animation and should be watched after CCA if you watch it at all.
If that block of text scared you off of UC Gundam, your next best bets are 00 Gundam if you want something more modern, or G Gundam if you want to watch an over the top super robot show. X is decent but just decent, Wing, Seed, and Age suck.
Reconguista in G is good but please give the show your full attention, it's not particularly complicated or difficult to follow at all but a lot of people act like following the show is like trying to solve four-dimensional trigonometry while tap-dancing and juggling torches for some reason and we don't need another person on that list. Plus you would be missing out on all of the little extra touches and background details in the show.
Lots of Gundam stuff
I did not expect a reply like that at all, that's actually really helpful since I was kind of worried about how to watch UC properly.
I'll probably start with the order you recommended for the UC, then watch RiG so that I can better understand some details because I know that I missed some stuff in Turn A that was referencing the UC.
Thank you for the help.
so glad that Mahoutsukai no Yome got an actual adaptation
considering the production value, I'd confidently say this is gonna be my AOTS
