Eh I think writing off Grand Order as it all sucks is a terrible idea, Orleans is actually a quite good chapter and the only real sore thumb is Rome so far and I have had a blast.
Apocrypha is literally meme tier though. Why. I see that it is based on a Light Novel, so it was no wonder it would have pure stupidity in it.
TBH designwise the servants are almost all unique, except when Parvati happens. Tsk. I hate the concept of psuedoservants more after they changed it to be gods posessing characters from the Fate/Stay Night universe, though I find the potential dual psuedoservant idea intriguing. Even though Waver is beyond retarded and his portrayal in Rome may as well be an indication on how rushed and stupid it all was in the beginning of Grand Order.
To be honest, I like Nero designwise and characterwise. Ironically her personality should lead to her being far more interesting than her portrayal in FGO and Extella went. She is definitely not the worst character in the nasuverse. There are far, far worse characters I can agree on that. Honestly though, I just see it as a lost potential character who basically became a meme and a money machine hence her continued use in Grand Order.
Though from a Western standpoint Nero is really meh though I gladly throw away any criticism I have of her if you tell me about that thing called Apocrypha.
I still find it funny when you mention guidelines considering the whole Parvati thing, while it was horrible what the netizens did to the artist. Things like that should not happen if you follow simple design guidelines. Still horrified about Parvatis design and find it one of the more insulting designs in FGO. But that is just how I personally feel.
As usual, take the stuff here into account but don't let it skew your opinion. Experience Fate Grand Order, characters, art, writing and all, for yourself and then see where you go from there.
So how much Fate has Nasu directly written? I assume he supervises and approves everything Fate related even if he isn't involved in the creation?

This assessment stands through, I think for any creator they would still like to be the one who approves what the other writers do. There are a ton of evidence that points to this.
Sakurai wrote a lot of the early Grand Order chapters. Camelot, Babylon and End Chapter is written by Nasu himself.
Epic of Remnant is split between 4 writers whos identity will be revealed after EoR 4 concludes.
Dialogue and character personalities is split between writers, as well. I would also assume Nasu has the veto right in personalities for the servants as well.
At least this is what I remembered and looked up to double check, please correct me if I am wrong.
I can only speak for Fate Grand Order, but I would assume he also supervises anything else Fate and he still loves writing a ton.
Binge read Komi-san wa comyushou desu since it started popping up more often in Tumblr and I was curious about the big eyes

Nasu directly wrote the original VN, most of Hollow Ataraxia, Extra and Extella and the main plot parts of Grand Order. He supervised and helped on the other parts, especially Zero. His involvement in Grand Order past where he directly wrote was described as "we'd send in a 1000 words for him to look over and he'd send back 4000" so even the parts he didn't original write were heavily edited by him.

Personally I find most of GOs designs horrendously bad way before Parvati happened. only a few artists manage to get the design sense of the nasuverse correctly. (Not overdesigned even when they're the most important people in history, Takeuchi's design sense is very 'casual god at a coffeeshop in a pair of jeans' and 90% of Go's artists appear to be drawing granblue fantasy designs instead of this. Also, a lot of Go original designs looks horribly out of place artstyle wise due to all the guest artists, especially the danganronpa guy, holy shit his servants are so bad. designs like Edison, or Arturia alter, or the disaster that is berserker Cu Chulainn just don't feel like they fit in this universe to me. Oh, and a lot of this applies to spinoffs that aren't GO as well, like prototype and apocrypha, especially apocrypha.
As for the writing in GO, I didn't make it far enough to really judge it but I wasn't even remotely impressed by anything happening in the prologue and I gave up as soon as Jeanne alter appeared in the next chapter cause I absolutely loath what GO does with the Alter concept, turning it into a cheap plot device to make edgy waifu versions of characters.
There's also GO's Altera design, which is 100% completely inferior to her Extella incarnation. Though this is a problem for a lot of the non-GO original servants as well due to the fucking stupid stage system often changing their designs for the worse (some exceptions; at least one actually gets better as the stages advance).
I've avoided Fate for the longest time because it's always been a bit full of some of my least favourite anime tropes (flashy battles that are impossible to follow with power levels all over the place, weird character designs with impractical armour, and rather liberal interpretations of European culture, as a Latin major, seeing Nero Claudius as a blonde anime girl while also being a recolour of the other main protagonist is weird), as well as just being a generally long-running series with a whole bunch of different seasons which all seem to be related but not necessarily linear continuations of each other. From reading Apocrypha's synopsis, it didn't sound like it was supposed to overwrite the main canon, but I didn't expect it to be as confusing and pointless as it ended up being.
I've heard good things about UBW, though, so I might see it at some point. Apocrypha really hasn't left a great impression, but I came into it knowing that it was probably going to be fanservice at best, similar to how Off the Record was to the Dead Rising series.
I've avoided it for the same reasons you have, but, like, some of these are pretty universal. Like western cartoons go with liberal interpretations of Asian cultures, and holy shit are some Japanese authors guilty of being liberal with their own culture and history. Impractical armour is prevalent in every medium known to man (though I grant that anime can be a bit more extreme) and battles with power levels everywhere... I see that in supposedly grounded TV shows from the west.
Having an issue with Nero Claudius as a blond anime girl though? I've not seen the anime in question, but... I Imagine they put their tongues in their cheeks for that one.

to be fair, in mainline fate the armor is actually very realistic for anime.
sure gilgamesh is gaudy but it fits his legend fine, and his armor is pretty damn reasonable.

nero being a girl is literally a joke in universe and is repeatedly stated to not be accurate to history and is just an aspect of the computer simulation that extra is set in
Uh excuse me Jeanne Alter is better then normal Jeanne
Wait what's wrong with Parvati?
Uh excuse me Jeanne Alter is better then normal Jeanne
I mean they're both fucking trash so it doesn't matter which trash stinks less.
Wow I will fight you don't you diss my waifu
Imagine waifuing such a terrible fanfiction tier oc as Jeanne or Jeanne alter
TBH the Alters look pretty hot in Epic of Remnant 1.
My problem with Parvati stems with the eye design, colour and composition of the final ascension art. I also feel the positioning of her limbs are weird too.
Oh and I do not like her colours, even if they are tied to Shiva.
I really did not need that loli scene in Food Wars today.

Super happy, i really can't wait.
I may be late but kabaneri of the iron Fortress has got to be one of the hypes damn things out there.
Does it keep this up all season? :excited:
nah, not really. it looks pretty sometimes though.
and the ed song is good.
[editline]6th December 2017[/editline]
i think the designs in that show are pretty cool too tbh but the story is totally whatever.
Kabaneri is okay at best when the show's formula was restricted to "mumei creates artificial drama and nearly every problem in the show by being a massive petulant bitch every episode" on a loop for the first half or so, and then Biba shows up with the plot and everything goes full retard in record time.
Okay, yep just powered through Kabaneri, that got disappointing fast.
Cities where awesome, the railforts are fuck awesome, the plot got dumb.
Also, every time they said or talked about Biba I couldn't stop myself from replacing him in my head with Justin Bieber. :v:
Kabenera is great campy fun for the first 6 episodes but then messes up the balance of dumbfun and just dumb after that.
I wish kabaneri didn't introduce a human villain, it didn't need one.
How the fuck does murata keep doing it? OPM chapter 84 was 130 pages, and it's honestly one of the best chapters of manga i've read in a really long time. Seems like mob psycho 100 is pretty close to finishing up as well, maybe we'll get a full anime adaption in the future?
Shingeki no Kyojin chapter 100

There is no way that Houseki no Kuni isn't the strongest full-show debut of a studio, everything about that show is fantastic and the animation is ridiculously good. Orange already embarrassed every other CG studio in the industry with their mecha stuff alone, and the entire show is up to their standards of animation quality.

I literally just finished watching the latest episode and was going to post about this.
Wow, the CG animation was amazing and the intense fight scenes in this episode were the perfect time to showcase it. Everything looked extremely polished and all the movements felt very natural. I really hope Houseki raises/sets an industry standard for CG and makes other studies step up their CG game. Houseki has consistently shown that it's definitely possible to produce excellent CG and not the Berserk-tier mediocrity that we've had to just deal with.
