The Place At The End Of The Universe's first episode was... okay. I'll keep watching to see where it goes. It could've been worse for a show with the premise of "high school girls go to the antarctic". I'm not a fan of the MC or her character design, but the show otherwise has a pretty good art style.
[del]Koizumi Loves Ramen[/del] Koizumi Is Being Pursued By A Stalker had a boring first episode. There's more time dedicated to the MC stalking Koizumi and pretty much jerking off to her than there is dedicated to ramen, and for a show about food it's not selling me. It doesn't help that Koizumi has zero personality besides "likes ramen". Her archetype is the dullest imaginable.
Yuri Camp had a really strong first episode. I really appreciate that it just sat down and showed the main character enjoying camping and letting the camping speak for itself, as opposed to having a hyperactive moeblob who can't shut up about how great camping is. Really good slice of life, I'd highly recommend picking it up.
Fun fact: Japanese Solid Snake did the narration in yuru camp

Did the narration?
I wonder if there's a word that describes a person who does narration
something like a narrationer perhaps?
i'm 3 episodes into devilman crybaby now and it's fantastic
takes a LOT of liberties (basically only follows the same story beats) but done well and fittingly, it feels fresh while still feeling devilman
the first episode had some odd pacing that might be a bit disorienting to people who havent read the manga or watched at least the first OVA but i definitely recommend checking it out anyway
I was worried Netflix would pussy out on nudity and gore but then [sp]Devilman ripped a vagina dentata demon in half[/sp]
:ok:
I've been watching some old anime from the good old Toonami and decided to start with The Big O. It's got that Noir/Batman vibe that I really like, and the music is really good too. I never got to properly watch it when it first came out because of Gundam Wing and Dragon Ball Z, and they aired it very late at night, which was my sleep time for school.

and i finished devilman crybaby
without a doubt a 10/10 show, it's everything i've ever wanted from a devilman adaptation
go watch it

Supposedly it covers the whole manga. I'm watching this for the first time, never seen the others and this art style is great.
Well god damn this show is gore porn.

it's a loose adaptation of the original manga, so you'll be fine going in blind

It's a re-imagining of the original manga, it hits the same points but not exactly the same every time, and is also totally standalone from it. the manga is also good if you can get over Go Nagai's honestly pretty shitty artwork in it, but you don't need any prior knowledge to understand this version.

[sp]It's hilarious that they were more aware of that while brainwashed. Then as the manga ends they go "shit, I did go crazy"[/sp]
It's hard for me to describe just how utterly horrible the ending to Yuuki Yuuna S2 is. I already hated it because of its constant use of pointless fucking dumb misunderstanding and contrivances to delay the inevitable actual extremely short plot, and yet it found a way to surpass my expectations of how stupid the ending could possibly be and went straight up all in on the single most retarded way to do anything.
And within all that, there is a fucking incredible punch. That animation was wasted on this hunk of shite. Good god.
devilman made my chest and gut hurt real good
9/10
I, as Taggart's shadow, also despised the ending of Yuuki Yuuna season 2 nothing happened for 4 episodes boogaloo.
I already thought it sucked by episode 5 but holy shit episode 6 managed to piss me off a completely new way, totally outdoing the shitty ending of season 1 in terms of asspulls, bullshit, and deus ex machina. what was the point of this season, it was all misunderstandings to delay the incredibly short plot.
I will not be watching season 3 if it ever becomes a thing, I'm done forever, fuck this garbage.
Devilman Crybaby
Go fucking watch it
9+/10

I caught up with it earlier today, thanks for recommending it here.
Also on the Houseki no Kuni bandwagon. Read the manga in two days...
[sp]Fucking heartbreaking seeing Phos change so much. This suffering is on par with Madoka's[/sp]
Houseki no Kuni Manga spoilers
[sp]It's surprisingly insidious, too. Like you can clearly compare the current Phos and the beginning Phos and see huge differences, but what's not so clear is that their morale and motives have shifted substantially. Phos is no longer trying to achieve something for someone else, but for only her own reason. It's really kind of heart wrenching and hard to watch. It's a real punch in the gut to remember how Kongo explicitly says how they have (had?) a kind heart
Then you look through the Character Profiles throughout all of the volumes and feel just that much worse[/sp]
