Why couldn't Mazinger receive the Netflix treatment like Devilman instead
Why couldn't Mazinger receive the Netflix treatment like Devilman instead
because Mazinger already had a fantastic reboot anime

Who's saying it won't get one.

Sorta annoying having to wait six months later for subs on the recent movie or better yet, I forget after a year and it's all just there with the work put in without someone scrambling to have been first

Here's a question for the newer FA'ers, what's the oldest anime you've watched?
Here's a question for the newer FA'ers, what's the oldest anime you've watched?
i watched about 30 episodes of Ashita no Joe, which started in 1970
if we're talking finishing old anime, the oldest i've finished is Mazinger Z vs Devilman, which was 1973
Here's a question for the newer FA'ers, what's the oldest anime you've watched?
I've watched a bit of Dororo to Hyakkimaru, but haven't finished it. Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 is the oldest I've finished.
I've wanted to watch Sabu to Ichi which is 1968, but that only has a few episodes subbed.
I forgot to watch Devilman Crybaby. Why i'm such a peasant
Here's a question for the newer FA'ers, what's the oldest anime you've watched?
Momotarou no Umiwashi from 1943. It's a World War II propaganda film.
Here's a question for the newer FA'ers, what's the oldest anime you've watched?
Kill la kill, anything older than that is probably bad anyways.
Kill la kill, anything older than that is probably bad anyways.
wait but you watched Spice & Wolf, which came out 2008.
Here's a question for the newer FA'ers, what's the oldest anime you've watched?
Uh, maybe SDF Macross? I don't know. Don't really keep track of the stuff, my MAL list is probably missing half the stuff I've watched because I don't remember them. Like all the Macross.
Also, [insert more praise for Devilman Crybaby].
[sp]Unfortunately got spoiled to prepare tissues for last two episodes so I managed to guess what happened in 9 and was prepared for both.[/sp]
i watched the 3 kizumonogatari movies and they were dope (except for the excessive boob shit in the last volume...). i figured i'd give bakemonogatari a go but it doesn't seem quite the same. lacking any seriousness or action and violence. have i been set up for disappointment? are any of the monogatari shows more than awkward highschool vampire romance comedy? do any of them have any cool shit like the movies?
[editline]7th January 2018[/editline]
like i have noticed the films have the 'action' tag and none of the shows do. so i'm not sure i should bother?
Your first mistake is watching Kizumonogatari first

Your first mistake was watching in the wrong order. You're supposed to watch Bakemonogatari, and while preferably you go in airing order you can watch Kizu after that. If I recall correctly Kizumonogatari wasn't even written until after Bakemonogatari. You were meant to just be finding out about that thing they kept talking about in Bakemonogatari, not the other way around.
To answer your question, Bakemonogatari isn't an action series, it's about people talking and sometimes it's serious and sometimes it isn't, and maybe every now and then you get a scene that is action, but rarely if ever is meant to be a conventional fight. Although the action is usually pretty violent.
So no you aren't getting an action series, either don't bother if you don't like it or change your expectations. I haven't watched Kizu personally so I can't personally compare it to the TV series.

i didn't know the shows existed until after i watched the movies, and then seeing that the movies are chronologically first and technically a prequel to a show, it's not THAT weird to think the show would be like the movies and it might have been a good starting point.
i mean the first piece of berserk i watched was the film trilogy, which is a totally fine place to start (even though the original anime is better and the manga is the best)
BUT if the show is not really like the films then I will probably give it a miss, thanks. devilman it is.

Finished Devilman Crybaby. Not much to say that hasn't already been said, go watch it. I rate it man/human.

Fucking Pop Team Epic, man. I don't know what I was expecting when I heard they would make an anime adaptation, but it sure as hell wasn't this.

I wanted to say it was Heidi, Girl of the Alps from 1974, but Cutey Honey beats it by a year.

I realized I haven't watched anything older than NGE.

Now I'm kinda disappointed that the films are more action-packed than the series, because I came to watch the series exactly to avoid action.
But if it's still as witty as the series, then it's fine.

im not exactly a newer faer but if you don't count shit like astro boy and speed racer the oldest thing I've watched that I sought out as anime rather than just some cartoon would probably be space battleship yamato. the oldest that I'm currently watching kinda off and on is dr. slump - arale chan
