since devilman crybaby was so great i'm finally getting off my ass and watching more of masaaki yuasa's works, starting with the tatami galaxy
i thought i was ready for fast dialogue after the monogatari series, but...

i wasnt
The dialogue does slow down a lot after the first episode.
[editline]8th January 2018[/editline]
It's still fast, but it's not "this essay is due in an hour and I haven't started" fast like the first episode.

Well shit...
What alternatives are there? I had finally settled on Batoto just a few months ago.
I first learned about batoto when I was lazy and searched for a manga there to post in the thread which caused me to get banned by a nerd, rip. Where will I read my potato elf now.
So I watched Pop Team Epic. I guess I'll watch more (??????)
I probably won't be. it just doesn't have the same charm as the 4koma
I hate you all so much for suggesting Houseki no Kuni.
[sp]I almost cried at the ending with Phos barely resembling their original self.[/sp]
I hate myself because I have to recommend it as well...
I'd enjoy the female voices in pop team epic more if they got va's that could do a more sukeban style character rather than the current ones. But it's hard to beat Hatman as Pipimi

I wonder if this is going to be a recurring thing (ie the episodes are basically all just 11 minutes) or if that was a one-time joke for the first episode. I'm guessing the former.
Either that or they're gonna be using the one that's more popular for the rest, and have both for dvd or something.

I don't think there are any that aren't complete garbage fires (in their default form).
I watched a few things today.
popteamepic was good at being bad
Mitsuboshi Colors was amusing. I wish I owned Colonel Monochrome.
Yoru wa Mijikashi Arukeyo Otome was excellent. I may have enjoyed it more than Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei.
More at 11

the female voice actresses are really good but it's kind of a shame because the male voice actors are way way funnier

If there's anybody out there who prefers the female VA over Hōchū Ōtsuka then I don't want to associate with them.
i just finished sho-bitch that was the worst "read the manga!" ending ive ever seen
like it full stop didnt end. maybe there's gonna be an ova that i can plant my masochistic ass on but jfc
if it at least sold well and might have a sequel later it'd be fine but it's not like it was ever gonna sell well with such a horrendously low budget

I hope we see the rise of scanlator sites again. Never really cared for batoto or when some groups just put everything on there and nowhere else.
I watched The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya [sp](see Endless Eight)[/sp].
Soon after, I watched Pop Team Epic.
I've never been so confused.

When it comes to specific up to date manga go for mangastream. Good quality and mostly good translations. Their range is limited though, I just use them for most manga that I keep up with. Quality is so fucking good though and many sites just copy their uploaded stuff.
For broader range, try mangareader. They also use often the translations provided by mangastream.

I will crawl back into my "s2 never" hole and add "complete adaptation" to the list of impossible dreams.
Takagi-san is like watching Home Alone and looking at the robbers heading for the traps.
should I watch Citrus?
seems cute
overlord had one of the most boring s2 starts
just people talking
I (basically) binged Devilman Crybaby. What a fucking ride. A flawed series to be sure but I'm glad it could exist and even gladder I enjoyed it as much as I did.
[sp]At first I thought it was over the top that the shop offed so many of Akira's family (even introducing his parents just to kill them immediately) but then the show ended the why it did so fair game I guess.[/sp]
Anime has been killing it recently.
finished the tatami galaxy

watch it if you're one of the few like me who hadn't yet

Now watch The Night Is Young, Walk On Girl. It's pretty much a four-episode follow-up with a new cast and a few returning characters in movie form and it's fantastic.
Just finished watching Season 2 of Monogatari (the second big group of story arcs, not the second story arc) and wow. This is a level of character depth and subtle mixes of psychological notions and lessons that I did not expect.
And I won't tolerate any shitpost trying to discredit the immense artistic value of this anime with some sex scene taken completely out of its context to try to look silly because this series talks to the spectator on so many different levels, it's just incredible. I wouldn't say Season 2 is deeper than the first, but it does feel like the makers are more in control.
I heard Season 3 is a lot darker... On the one hand, that'll be a nice change of pace, on the other... the whole "light tone, heavy themes" of the series really gives it its charm.
I can't say that I've ever seen people actually disparage monogatari for the fan service bits, in fact they've probably seen it themselves and are just in on the joke.
shouwa genroku is so good and i've only seen half of it like damn
