Watched "Children Who Chase Lost Voices" the other night. That was a somewhat surreal experience. Had an almost Ghibli feel to it, but it wasn't quite as "gripping" as anything I've seen of Ghibli's, if that makes sense.
Even as a "budget" Ghibli movie, i still enjoyed it, i just wasn't the amazing that a lot of Ghibli films are.
nothing about the mineral people makes any sense. why would they paint themselves with human skin? why would an organism that evolved to be the way they are find human skin appealing? have they ever even seen a human? why haven't they written any of their history down up until now? if their entire body is a mineral, what are their eyes? they seem to always stay intact when they shatter. do they colour the whites of their eyes? if not, what are the whites of their eyes made out of? how are they hard and yet flexible at the same time? how is their hair attached? why wouldn't it just snap off in the slightest breeze? why would the most brittle beings ever have such skinny limbs? how do they get tired if they have no muscles? how do they get winded all the time if they don't need to breathe? why do they fight in high heels? they don't seem to feel hot or cold judging by how they're basically naked in snow, and i don't think they have genitals either, so why do they even wear clothes or use blankets? is a being that hard ever comfortable? why don't they ever suddenly forget where they are immediately after losing a few limbs? how do they operate any of their limbs that are stuck back on when there's glue (or gold) between the parts? if you get shattered into a million pieces but some are missing, do you just gradually get smaller each time you're put back together? if someone has lost a limb and they're out of spare minerals, couldn't they just smash you apart and rebuild you but smaller? why couldn't they just use some of the person with heaps of red hair's hair to fix her body holes? does she really need the most hair in the world? why would she be dead from holes in her chest when if any part of them is interchangeable? why wouldn't she just fashion her gold into blades instead of using a sword like the t1000? if she cracks every time she exerts her gold power, is the gold holding her together? how? is it sticky? when her gold is liquid, is it hot? if so why doesn't it burn anything (or her clothes)? if the gold is so heavy, why doesn't lifting it break her arm off (before it's a part of her)? THE MORE I WATCH THE MORE I FEEL LIKE I'M GOING INSANE
thank you. i don't buy some of these and as you said some of this is not explained and you're supposed to just suspend belief but man it's a stretch sometimes, you have to admit even for an animation their physiology is flimsy. but i do not want to argue about it, i don't really care about that stuff as far as the anime quality goes, i just had a lotta questions (and it was a redlettermedia gag). the show just didn't do it for me i guess and i'm not sure i get the appeal. but that is ok
Explain how this works, reds. Madness

I don't care about these questions I myself asked because I realize I was wrong but won't admit it.

are you seriously expecting anime to make sense physiologically
I don't care about these questions I myself asked because I realize I was wrong but won't admit it.
That's Rusty for you, this shit happens every time people on FP like something and he doesn't "get it".
I just saw Your Name. Boy that was pretty good!
are you seriously expecting anime to make sense physiologically
I just started this anime called Adventure Time, it makes no sense man, there's this dog that can just expand and shrink infinitely, like where does all the extra matter come from when he expands? Where does it go when he shrinks? What's his metabolism like? Does he poop a lot and if so where does the poop go when his size changes? Does the poop also expand and shrink?
The last chapter of girls last tour came out today.
for those who read it [sp] check out the anime's ED again[/sp]

I need anime that makes me feel like my soul has vacated my body by the end like NGE. Just binged Devilman Crybaby and the passion for nhilistic, deeply apocalyptic settings with heavy religious symbolism has reignited in me

Don't know if it's exactly what you are looking for, but I kinda want to recommend Shinsekai Yori. (Altho i don't think theres religious symbolism)

really my biggest thing is i want that 'End of Act 2' gut punch. Every anime I adore has that kind of hit, be it the start of NGE's gloriously horrific ending or when TTGL gets to space.

Wolf's rain? Madoka magica?
Also Made in Abyss once the follow up movie is made. Psycho-pass (season 1 only).
Yuru Camp OP song SHINY DAYS sounds like a Jackson 5 song at points and I love it.
Super comfy feeling still after 2 episodes, and that sight gag with [sp]the two dogs on leashes[/sp] made me bust a gut laughing.
should i read berserk or watch the 97 anime? i really don't feel the flow of manga (reading jojo was an absolute pain sometimes despite the really good material and it really threw me off) and i don't want to force myself to do it but everyone says the anime is so-so and the manga is godlike

The 97 show is a pretty good adaption honestly, it's just that it's like a quarter of the story. It's also pretty static, but it looks good when it needs to and captures the feeling that's vital to the story.
The manga is way, way better for a lot of reasons, but you shouldn't make yourself read something if you dont feel like doing it. Plus, eventually you'd get caught up with the current chapter and feel the weight of the endless wait. But if you really feel like getting into Berserk, reading it is absolutely the only way to go. Kentaro Miura's art is fucking fantastic and none of the shows come really all that close to the same style, even the 97's anime which is the closest feels really timid in comparison.
Wolf's rain?
I'd second wolf's rain if you want something to really give you a gut punch, even more so if you want a good dub.
God damn I forgot about Wolf's Rain. I watched the dub on Adult Swim ages ago.
is anyone else watching citrus, I feel extra degenerate that I'm the only person I know watching it
