Izetta feels like it's just falling short of being good. Random stuff like wonky writing, awkward characterization, and the fucking flaccid-ass gun sounds aren't huge problems on their own, but they work together to bring the show down. Music is p great tho
Man, this week's Hibike Euphonium was super good, i'd say that the performance bordered on thrilling.

Music is p great tho
you really undercut your argument by including a petty issue like the gun sound effects next to something that feels like a legitimate issue (writing), like I didn't totally agree with the writing stuff but I could understand that opinion, but you've completely lost me by complaining about gun sound effects in the same sentence, because it makes me feel like you're putting both issues on the same level and I have no problem with the gun sounds.

Although I didn't recognize it until the third episode.

Also GATE looks incredibly bad.
Izaetta is directed by Masaya Fujimori, who did not direct GATE, that was Takahiko Kyogoku and Ryou Andou.
But then why do they feel so similar as if they're made by the same person?
But then why do they feel so similar as if they're made by the same person?
They... don't?
They... don't?
Look at the action scene in the first episode of GATE and the action scene in the third episode of Izetta and tell me that the emotion conveyed, mood and atmosphere color, and general composition don't feel identical. Even the character designs feel distinctly A-1. The difference I saw was that the action scenes were a notch above.

The action scenes in Izetta and GATE are nothing alike in tone, direction, or feeling. The character designs look like a-1? are you serious right now?? no they don't.
Man, that last scene in Drifters episode 5 was really really brutal and literally made me want those people to die. fuck them
dat shining reference in Flip Flappers
Man, this week's Hibike Euphonium was super good, i'd say that the performance bordered on thrilling.
That was a beautiful episode. I was on the edge of my seat for the entire duration of the performance.
Man, that last scene in Drifters episode 5 was really really brutal and literally made me want those people to die. fuck them
I saw it coming a mile away when they said the women were being held in the castle.

Abec and BUNBUN are the same person. Unless you mean GATE's character designs didn't look like A-1 [t]http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/swordartonline/images/e/ee/Yui.png/revision/latest?cb=20140228061052[/t] [t]http://anime.astronerdboy.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/x08-Princess-Fin%C3%A9.jpg[/t] Saying something "looks like A-1" is kinda not correct though, considering that they tend to contract individuals for different projects and don't really have that much in-house staff.

I decided to re-watch the GiTS 1995 movie and seeing it a second time has allowed me to really enjoy the little details. Oh and how beautifully animated the movie was.

I really fucking hope they get there act in for Berserk 2017 and not just in animation, but in story wise as well ( correct me if I am wrong but episode 1 of Berserk 2016 was all over the fucking place and I'm waiting for the English Dub to watch more of them ) [editline]6th November 2016[/editline]
I decided to re-watch the GiTS 1995 movie and seeing it a second time has allowed me to really enjoy the little details. I'm not the only person who hates it when someone in an anime says "This isn't an anime" or "This is like something out of an anime, but it's not", right? Or when someone in a game says "This isn't a game"? Or "This isn't a movie" in a movie? Or in manga or books or comics or whatever else? Even crossing mediums, like "This isn't a game, it's real" in a movie or anime, is still annoying. Sure, I know they're going for irony, but all it does is rip me out of the story. It would be fine if it was exclusive to comedy shows, but it isn't.
This isn't real right...?
It actually is. And those are the real VAs, too.

Just curious, what about anime characters that firmly realise they're in an anime instead?
