I keep watching random shows on Crunchy Roll and hate most of them. I could use some suggestions! Shows like Ghost in the Shell and Attack on Titan were a lot of fun for me. I watched the most recent series for Berserk, which was pretty cool, and also watched Ajin on Netflix-- not too bad either. I'm watching Parasyte right now, and digging that a lot. In a word, I guess I'm into serious and suspenseful shows with adult themes? Sci-Fi, fantasy, supernatural elements, violence, etc. What I'm definitely not into is overblown cutesy / comedy stuff. There are a few exceptions, probably, but as a general rule I don't really click with that kind of humor. If people are calling each other perverts and idiots and hitting each other with oversized leeks over ~humorous misunderstandings!~ , and shit like that, I'm not going to be into it. I'm also pretty picky about animation style. I prefer a more polished and "realistic" look. My girlfriend used to watch this show, and it drove me up the wall. That just isn't funny to me. Fair play if you enjoy it, but that's not my scene. Help steer me right? I'm basically just randomly watching stuff right now, and end up quitting after a couple of episodes.
Sometimes ya need a bit of comedy. Watch cromartie high, the dub is really good if u end up watching that version.
sounds like you need to finish things tbh anime isn't like American TV, for one Anime actually have a planned finale to seasons unlike American TV which has a tendency to cliffhanger every season and continue til it gets cancelled, anime on the other hand will (generally) tell a full story from start to end over a series.
Tell that to the half or so of all anime every season that exist only to adapt 13 episodes worth of an LN or manga as an advertisement and never get any more material because the market de-incentivises full adaptations and risk-taking.

Look at long running serials like the simpsons, buffy, friends, how I met your mother They just go on forever with no hint of resolution. Also you can smell the shit-stink of a bad LN/Manga adaptation from a mile away once you know what you're looking for. Even when I was new to anime I was good at dodging terrible shows, just show some initiative and do a bit of research into a show and 9 times out of 10 you'll make the right call.

But even ignoring adaptations, the fact that most original anime is designed to have a start, middle, and end is a huge plus.
I don't think it's a coincidence that nearly all my favourite anime were anime original.
started Hokuto no Ken I am fuckin ready
started Hokuto no Ken I am fuckin ready
even if it gets boring at times you should keep going because it keeps getting better the further it goes until HnK2, which keeps getting worse the further it goes

Those are also two of the few I've watched dubbed over subbed. Black Lagoon, though not as excellent as the above two, is pretty good too. Kinda similar to Cowboy Bebop. Planetes is a very grounded in reality depiction of what near future of space travel could be like. If you're into space stuff, absolutely would recommend.

I liked Trigun when I was a kid, but I've got a feeling that I wouldn't enjoy it nearly as much now since I've gotten a lot more picky about what I watch. The humor in it just wouldn't appeal to me anymore, and that's such a huge part of the show. I've never heard of the other two, but I'll pop them on my list! They sound interesting.

[editline]26th December 2016[/editline] shhh we have to lull him into it he will come to the dark wide of the force, in time my apprentice. in time
Evangelion is something I would definitely like to finish, yeah. Otherwise, if I stop watching a show, it's usually because I wasn't impressed with it. I do give them a fair shake, though. Unless it's just hopelessly off base for me, I will always give a show about five episodes to get going. If it still hasn't captured me at that point, I'm out. It was definitely a cool story, but I'm much more particular about what I like these days, especially when it comes to comedy!

Take a look at Shinsekai Yori as well.
You may enjoy Parasyte as well if you're looking for darker shows. Take a look at Shinsekai Yori as well.
Almost done with Parasite, actually. Very cool show! Right up my alley!
Oh also watch JoJo if you aren't already.
Oh also watch JoJo if you aren't already.
First part is slow. Third part is monster of the week. Second part best part.
Almost done with Parasite, actually. Very cool show! Right up my alley!
I also recommend trying out Planetes and Mushishi
I went into Cross Ange expecting a 4/10 boobfest with redeeming action. The only reason why I watched it was because people talked about it here so I put it in my to-watch list and had nothing else to watch. Man my expectations were slammed to the ground. It had an actual plot where things were happening and constant character development and things kept getting more ridiculous and interesting as time went on. Once I hit about episode 8 I had to know what happened next and spent the rest of my free time binge watching the remaining episodes. 9/10 so generic but oh so good. I feel like I'm going to be in the minority here.
i dont know why i played through this whole thing no microtransactions gameplay was repetitive NPC dialogue extremely bland 8.5/10
Giant Gorg is on crunchyroll
You may enjoy Parasyte as well if you're looking for darker shows. Take a look at Shinsekai Yori as well.
Can I just third Shinsekai Yori? And fourth and fifth it as well?
In a word, I guess I'm into serious and suspenseful shows with adult themes? Sci-Fi, fantasy, supernatural elements, violence, etc.
Because this describes it pretty well. Just the first 4 or 5 minutes alone give you a good sense of what you're in for. Kids growing up in a dark, supernatural world.
Homoerotic lust
Since we're all suggesting Shinsekai Yori so hard, I should rewatch it. Haven't seen it since it aired, but I can still recall a lot of story I've also remembered now that it aired in the same season as PsychoPass, Girls und Panzer, Chuu2, Sakurasou, Robotics;Notes, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and a few others What a fucking season that was
SAO too. [editline]27th December 2016[/editline] On episodes where SAO had a lot of animation you can see a visible dip in SSY's production quality :v:

It's just that it's not a series with a lot of action and animation has hard dips in some episodes. But the atmosphere and story is amazing and I'm pretty sure you BDA will love it considering you hate ADHD scenes, since this is the polar opposite of ADHD.

Do something about it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ [editline]27th December 2016[/editline] With as many of ya'll are suggesting Shinsekai Yori, I will definitely have to check it out once I've finished my next show. Currently watching Parasyte and K-On!! with my fiancee, and Psycho Pass on my own.
You know you haven't visited FA enough when you see mods start posting in here who you would never expect.
