I'd say it got beaten pretty easily in the first regard because Shinji isn't whiny at all.
I mean, I don't say that he doesn't make sense - anyone in the same situation would be fucking bonkers. The whine is just the sound he makes, even in most berserk of his dad-hating rage.
I mean, as far as Whiny Protagonists and Nonsensical Endings that Actually Make Sense, it still hasn't been beat.
I like shinji and I understood the ending fine without looking anything up.
the ending isn't cryptic or anything anyway, it's just a very unusual way of [sp]completing shinji's character arc[/sp]
I like shinji and I understood the ending fine without looking anything up.
People try to look too deep into the things in eva that never intended to be that deep. Theres a fair few loose ends but not a lot is kept hidden from you

having played the game that is on stream, i can't wait for this. stripping people is the best action.
No-Laughing 2017 batsu game bus has been spotted! http://i.imgur.com/mgX5Rif.jpg This year's theme is [sp]No-Laughing Science Laboratory[/sp]
I'm thinking of watching NGE and just get it over with so I can say, "Yes, I've watched it."
I started watching anime only a year ago and in my opinion it's worth the watch. Lots of people say it's overrated and yeah it might be, but it's still a fucking great show. Be sure to watch all of the episodes and then hit up the movie End of Evangelion to finish it off. There's the other movies which a lot of people hate but I liked them too. The third was a bit weird but I like crazy shit like that. It's funny to me how people can be so elitist about the series on both ends of the spectrum. You've got people that say it's the best anime that will ever exist, and then you have people who say it's way too overrated. It's not the best anime series in the world but it's definitely not one to be glossed over either. Watch it and enjoy it.
Was Trump for or against anime? I forget. I remember there being a thing about it.
:snip:
Why aren't you watching flip flappers?
Shingeki no Kyojin 87 holy shit one kick in the balls after another this train has no fucking brakes
Funnily enough, I just finished watching NGE. I honestly thought I was going to hate it before I watched it, thinking it would be all angsty and just be 26 episodes of people crying or something. I was really surprised then to find I actually liked it quite a bit. Great art, good worldbuilding, an interesting story ([sp]At least until the last 2 episodes happen and it just ends[/sp]), and despite how often characters are breaking down it never descends into angst territory. Still need to watch EoE, but I can definitely see why people like NGE so much.
Fifth attempt at getting back into anime in the last few years, with re:zero this time. last show I watched as it aired was umaru
Fifth attempt at getting back into anime in the last few years, with re:zero this time. last show I watched as it aired was umaru
Do note that the show doesn't so much end as it just kinda pauses, but it's a wild ride.
Do note that the show doesn't so much end as it just kinda pauses, but it's a wild ride.
Welcome to 95% of LN adaptations. Please enjoy either the first five minutes of the plot, or a highly condensed and rushed version of the plot trying to cover as much ground as possible in an inadequate amount of episodes. [editline]10th November 2016[/editline] And if it's popular, Yen Press with license it and you won't catch up with where the anime left off for at least four years.
What car was Taki-sensei driving in this week's Yuriphonium? I know it's a European shitbox because it was left-hand drive, but what European shitbox was it? EDIT: Someone on reddit thinks it's a Citroën Ami 8, and it does look a lot like it.
Is Akira good? (1998 movie)
Man, that episode of Yuri on Ice was reaaaaly fuckin GAY I loved it
Is Akira good? (1998 movie)
People say that it's very different from the manga, which I haven't read, but I really enjoyed the movie all the same.
People say that it's very different from the manga, which I haven't read, but I really enjoyed the movie all the same.
It is... but I don't think one is better than the other. They both excel at what they are doing.
Is Akira good? (1998 movie)
Assuming you mean 1988, it's one of the best animated films ever made and one of the best films ever made period. There's no going wrong with it, but you might have trouble keeping up with its frantic pace and huge scope the first time. [editline]10th November 2016[/editline] I rewatched the blu-ray edition on a 4K with forced HDR and frame interpolation a month ago, and I still have retina burn. The film's a marvel of animation and sound technology that's never going to be seen again.
Maybe it's just because I hate the type of plot lines Akira/NGE/Madoka have but while Akira was good and I respect it, I didn't like it that much. Visually stunning yeah but the actual story I didn't like.
People say that it's very different from the manga, which I haven't read, but I really enjoyed the movie all the same.
The manga was still ongoing when the movie was produced, so the manga has a lot more stuff going on in it than what the movie adapted. They're both pretty good, though

That said, I love huge plots where it feels like a whole world's being painted, and Akira and the original GITS are the two things that satisfy that for me. So I'm biased, but it is actually a marvel of technology. They invented colors, proto-digital audio workstations, and a bunch of other wild stuff to make it as perfectly as they could. It's the lovechild of about 20 different Japanese electronic giants who wanted to showcase their new tech, pretty much.
The film's a marvel of animation and sound technology that's never going to be seen again.
The budget was insane, like 8-10 million USD. Madoka redeemed itself with the movies but especially NGE it felt like the plight of the characters and everything that lead up to the finale was pointless because the world ended. To me these type of plots come off as cheap and an absence of a real conclusion to what happened up until the end.[/sp]

The world doesn't end in AKIRA. Tetsuo is contained where he can be free at the cost of Neo-Tokyo, and it is implied that Akira's powers have begun to reach the rest of humanity starting with Kei, as it was meant from beginning (those three lines the kids say reference that). AKIRA is all about human transcendence in the face of great turmoil; it's really optimistic and has relatively good closure if you scrutinize it.[/sp]

With both NGE and Akira I both wanted a more simple plot but both ended with some "world ending" stuff. I know the world doesn't technically end in Akira but I don't know how to put it, you get what I mean. It's when something happens on a universe level and someone transcends to become god or some sort of godly force. [/sp]
Was Ao no Exorcist any good? I remember watching it back a few years ago and dropping it when the anime began to deviate from the manga, but I can't remember if it was actually good
