Watched episode 79 of Dragon Ball Super. I have a hard time between whether this anime is truly average or if it's actually pretty decent. Every time I keep getting to the point of saying it is boring, they always unveil or release something awesome. I'm a pretty big Dragon Ball fan because of my nostalgia and childhood so I could be biased, but I've watched a lot of anime as well and I personally think the writing and battles are honestly pretty well done for this series. There hasn't been a single thing thus far that I've really criticized to a serious degree even though I've been watching quite intently. I remember how awesome Dragon Ball Z was (I missed Dragon Ball) and it's hard to match up but I think they are doing an alright job to be honest. Above all else I'm just happy to have more Dragon Ball. I'm genuinely surprised by the quality of the series.
As for the episode and current arc in particular, I'm pretty impressed. It's only a couple of episodes in to the Universe Survival arc and things are already kicking off with a bunch of interesting characters and an already awesome first battle. This is following an extremely well written (and frankly dark for DB) arc that I PERSONALLY didn't enjoy a whole lot, but I think that was more so due to my own preferences than anything else. If anyone is on the fence about trying Super out, I'd definitely suggest you give it a shot.

really? cause writing has always been one of dragonball's weakest aspects (since after the frieza arc at least)
almost every fight goes the same way from what i remember: A steamrolls B, B reveals something that causes them to become stronger, B steamrolls A, A reveals something that causes them to become stronger, etc. etc. until either goku comes in to continue the formula or A or B dies
most fights are solved by powering up in some way instead of outsmarting an opponent or discovering and using an opponent's flaws
not saying that's how every fight goes, but from my memory that's what most of them were

From what I heard they finished episode 6 minuets before it was supposed to air, so they needed to skip a week to alieviate crunch.

After taking a four month or so break from anime, I finally got around to watching The Tatami Galaxy. I think I saw somewhere that there's supposed to be a related movie or OVA of some sorts airing soon so I'm really looking forward to that. I feel motivated as fuck to watch anime again, but damn my backlog looks even more unmanageable now.
