binge watched the devil is a part timer with my gf when she found it on netflix
pretty good, and it was actually really funny. i know it was only 13 episodes but it seemed incredibly short.
Stardust crusaders is growing on me slowly. It's taken 15 episodes though.
I found Stardust Crusaders pretty slow at the end of the first third and until they reach Egypt, especially after Book 2.
Hey guys, me again. I have a question about this one anime, can I ask it here or will I get yelled at? Thanks
Just asking your question won't get you yelled at as much as asking if you can ask it in the vaguest possible way

Unless it's a really shitty question
Man, no wonder Shin Sekai Yori sat in my mind for so long. It seems like it has just as much impact as it did when I watched it 5 years ago, if not more. Marathoning the series probably has something to do with it.
To this day I don't think I've watched anything quite like this show.
On that note, any recommendation for shows that are like Shin Sekai Yori?

I'm kind of in the same boat, I watched it a few years ago, and recommended it to some friends who also loved it, but I've not been able to find anything that's quite like it.
A common recommendation I see is Psycho-Pass, I guess because of the futuristic elements, conspiracy plot lines, and ideas of thought/behavior control. But I felt like Psycho-Pass was a crime show first and a sci-fi show second, so for me it didn't scratch that itch.

When does the plot start to develop towards lifting all the mysteries ? I remember getting bored and shelving it around episode 8-9 :v:

Theres not much anime like SSY tbh. It's quite unique piece. Sadly so.

Now and then, here and there. It isn't really like ssy but worth watching

You mean in SSY or Psycho Pass?
From what I remember about Psycho Pass, there wasn't a lot of substantial info revealed until some of the final episodes.
But with SSY, there's a huge info dump as early as episode 4, explaining pretty much all the biggest mysteries of the story. At least to the point that things make sense enough for the characters to jump into the driver's seat.

SSY. I only stuck around to learn about that scary cat, I know it's supposed to be this hype anime but it never got me hooked on its characters.
[sp]also you can't really trust an info dump from some weird ass white dog that's obviously not a regular lifeform[/sp]

Things get intense during the final 9 episodes where it pretty much turns into a sophisticated thriller.
[sp]Most of the main cast and side characters are dead by the end of the series.[/sp]
What a phenomenal first episode for SSY.

There's not much fiction like SSY.
Tbh if you like SSY don't look for similar anime, go read up some Aasimov or Arthur C Clarke, that kind of old, hard scifi novel is what SSY reminds me of the most.

I hear a lot of people compare it to The Time Machine by H.G. Wells, but to me it seems a lot more influenced by something like Brave New World. Maybe it's because I read Brave New World shortly before watching it, but I couldn't stop thinking back to it.

This is blatantly untrue about pyscho-pass, the plot builds the entire time. if you mean that then of course it was late that was the main twist reveal of the show.

You could have asked it in Discord but you seem intent on just shitposting instead of engaging in any meaningful discussion :pudge:

I could be remembering it wrong. It has been a few years. To me it seemed like the sci-fi/conspiracy aspects took kind of a backseat to the main plot, which was pursuing the one high-profile criminal.
Not that that would be a bad thing. It's still good as a crime show, but that's just what differentiates it from SSY.

I don't think it's a coincidence that both of those books are good scifi too.
gonna go all fast manga but i have to say the promised neverland is amazing and everyone here should start reading it. really interesting story and world and we have just finished the first major arc of the story and pretty much none of the main questions have been answered.
super excited to see how this goes, could see it becoming a big hit if it gets an anime adaptation after we get more story

So I was watching a documentary and this caught me off guard..
This weeks AoT is especially epic.
SnK episode 31
WIT really nailed [sp]the most non-chalant reveal in existence. Beautiful, exactly as in the manga.[/sp]
attack on titan so fuckine good damn
This weeks AoT is especially epic.
I'm extremely wary of [sp]the colossal titan being CG now.[/sp]
They didn't use it MUCH in the last episode, but I really hope they're going to keep it to a minimum
