Fucking hell, I cannot for the life of me find a copy of Girls und Panzer volume 3 in any store and I've been looking for months. The one I like to go to has had half a dozen copies of volume 2 or more, but none of 3. I got a copy of 4 at least. Also picked up volumes 2 and 3 of Kobayashi, but again couldn't find volume 1, so I'm gonna be looking for that one as well in the coming days.

but yes, for some reason for some time volume 3 was a mystery and was sold out constantly, even in popular book stores which had 1+2+4 ect, 3 was nowhere to be found

You were right. The last part/ending of Jojo Part Three, Polnaref's Adventure was good enough to make up for the monster of the week format.

Part 5 is pretty divisive, some people say it's their favorite part, but a lot of people think it does a lot of re-hashing of Part 3. It has another big group of protagonists on a sort of road-trip plot, and a mysterious antagonist who sends stand user after stand user to attack the group.
Through parts 1-4, Araki was still constantly trying new things and experimenting with the story and art in different ways. Part 5 feels like it was more of a "playing it safe" part than its predecessors. But that's not necessarily a bad thing, he stuck to a lot of things he knew would work BECAUSE they worked in the past.
But I wouldn't say there are any BAD Jojo parts. And part 4 is great, it has more light-heartedness and comedy than the previous parts, and it has so many memorable characters. You get occasional monster-of-the-week-esque stand battles, but the large-scale story structure is very different from any of the other parts. The fights have more context to them than just "I will now kill you because I am evil."
I didn't like part 4 as much as 1-3 when I first read it, but it has grown on me a lot, just for having great characters and doing things differently.
I really do find it a lot better, I just watched a whole episode with no fighting in it and loved it. It's still often in the monster of the week format but they've really perfected it after part 3. They're often in two parts and there is a lot more plot involved."
The characters and stands are a lot more interesting this time around as well, though something can be said for simplicity, I still really like Star Platinum.

the anime will catch up to the manga in either two 1 cour seasons or a one 2 cour season
but by the time that happens, the manga will be long over
i thought the monster of the week format in part 3 was part 3's greatest strength, so much so that i don't think it'd be my 2nd favorite anime without that format. the new enemy with different abilities that was presented every episode and how the group would handle it was really fun to see.
The problem with monster of the week format is that it becomes too predictable. Part 4 sidesteps this by having the solution for every week be different (and sometimes a little bullshit) while part 3 episodes nearly always get resolved by someone finally being able to punch a guy.
Yeah part 3 still has its charm but they definitely learned things from it. There is something cool about Jotaro popping up and just ORAORAORAing his way to victory from time to time, even if its not an elegant solution.
The ending of part 2 was absolutely fantastic in my opinion and it was the dumbest shit ever. I think the thing I miss the most from part 1 and 2 is just the moments of dumb luck Jojo has that give him the victory. They don't always need to be complex.
