Imagine if Berserk 16/17 was done by the same studio that did the golden age trilogy. I really love the artstyle even when they used some cheap CGI in some places.
If the 16/17 series was some kind of clever ploy to make people appreciate the movie trilogy more, then holy shit it's working. I thought the CG in the movies looked awkward at times, but at least it doesn't look godawful like the new series.
bad animation in anime is generally not budget related but time and talent related. reminder that attack on titan 2 is 13 episodes long because the director said "we just don't have enough animators available to make a 26 episode show" the animation industry is stretched too thin in japan right now.
I'm hoping that animation studios that give their animators a proper liveable salary instead of paying below minimum wage by the cut become more common. PA Works just started doing it, Kyoani has been doing it, and there's a couple of other studios that do it (maybe Mappa? can't remember). Given an 80% turnover rate in the first three years for new animators, something's got to give before they start just outsourcing everything to Korea.
I'm literally the entirety of this season behind on LWA. I think I'm just gonna wait and binge it all at this point.
Reminder that Super Eyepatch Wolf made a new video on Berserk 2017. I was like, holy shit, Miura doesn't deserve this.

It can never have a great anime adaptation.

So, it looks like a Pluto anime adaptation may have just been announced for 2020. at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France. I do hope that Pluto anime announcement is real. Pluto manga is one of my favs.
There's also a Patlabor Reboot poster on display with what looks like a new subtitle, so maybe that's gaining some traction beyond the five minute short they put out.
I've absolutely demolished the first season of Bakuman instead of studying for exams. It's pretty good.
Eccentric Family s2ep10 [sp]So is sleeping dude the real Kurechirou??[/sp]
I've been watching a lot of Saiki K and playing a lot of Tekken 7
Decided I'm going to start chiseling away at my backlog starting this week. So far watched Girls und Panzer film, Mushishi movie, and the two Kizumonogatari movies so far. I'm surprised at the latter two, I remember being super skeptical when I heard all the criticism surrounding them but they were actually great. Gotta say I like these in movie format than the TV ones.

I thought it was 12.
new mazinger anime seems to mostly be 3DCG, though the 2D animation that's there looks fantastic
koe no katachi is fantastic. it's a 10/10 from me. it's like kimi no na wa but better and less plot holes (and far better girls). the movie was so good that throughout the entire movie i said out loud things like "oh SHIT" and other things that would announce my shock and surprise at big moments during the movie. it might not have been good to do because i was watching the movie at around 1 am. i stood up in my seat twice during the movie out of pure shock ([sp]the confession and the suicide scenes[/sp]). i almost cried [sp]at the near suicide scene. i would have cried if she actually jumped, but that didn't happen, so my non-crying streak continues. i wouldn't be surprised if i cried if shoya actually died, too.[/sp] go watch konk if you haven't already, you won't regret it. i'm currently trying to find a way to make my dad watch it because i think he'd like that because he likes kimi no na wa. i'm going to rewatch the movie next week too because i am having such fond memories of it. when the only anime you've rewatched is your absolute most favorite anime and now you want to rewatch a different anime, then you know that that anime is really, REALLY fucking good. i'm also watching my hero academia now, too, it's nice

Patlabor EZY doesn't seem to have a studio yet, but is produced by the producer of the Patlabor TV series.
I'm down for a new Patlabor anime
you know, i didnt see the announcement video for the new WUG anime until now, but now I kind of wish I didn't. this isnt WUG anymore, this is WAG now. scared
read like all of imori 201(well of what's translated anyways i can't read the raws because not japanese) today and if anyone could direct me to a translation of the rest of it that would be great was much better than i expected, started it for the lewd, but was cuter and more refreshing than i expected was expecting it to turn into a harem manga but it wasn't so sometimes you just need the refreshment of some mindless, drama-lite, light hearted romance fun
video is is unavailable
it was a camcorder video of a trailer for the new mazinger movie so it'll probably get an official upload soon
Finally got New Getter Robo out of the way. The first 2-3 episodes were silly but like with the other Getter Robo anime it got better as it progressed, I think. Though on that note the ending felt kinda weak since it was similar to one of other Getter endings.
if it's anything like the short they might as well quit
If it's anything like the short it'll be good. It set out to be a five minute long modern take on a typical Patlabor scenario and it succeeded at that. Did you expect complex character development in five minutes, most of which is a fight scene? There isn't enough in that short to get up in arms over unless you're inherently opposed to the idea of more Patlabor.

Not that unexpected i think, all that waiting after s1 was probably so the manga could get a long head start before continuing the adaptation
Cool we're getting an S3. I want to see how they change around the political shit to actually make it more engaging rather feeling like a bunch of exposition
