Psycho Pass is pretty sci-fi but I'd recommend it regardless.
Just avoid season 2 it's not that good and nothing important happens in it
Is there any grounded, non-sci-fi, non-fantasy, etc. manga or anime, starring and created for adults?
What I mean is, psychological thriller or drama type stuff, that could technically "happen" in the real world. Breaking Bad, Law and Order, Dexter and such are grounded in the real world and don't star school children, to name a few examples.
Naoki Urasawa's Monster is pretty great. It's set in late 90's Germany.

Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu should fit your "mature anime for mature people such as me" bill.
Also, Hyougemono.

I mean, don't get me wrong. I'll still watch stuff like Konosuba or something and enjoy it, it just occurred to me that I'm not aware of any more mature anime that is grounded and was curious what the style had to offer.

Zero was one of my favourite shows this seasons, it was a very fun fantasy series.
It's the lasts episodes that aren't this great but it was fun to watch for a while, i still like Zero and the Mercenary but the story is just not helping it.

I only used that term half-ironically, both shows I recommended are fantastic and personal 10/10s.
Hyouge Mono is one of the best I've ever seen and it is extraordinarily difficult to get people to watch it because it's difficult to describe succinctly, it has little to no action, it didn't air recently, and nobody has watched it so it has no reputation behind it.
Do yourself a favour and watch it.

I'm very late with this, but since no one has mentioned the following yet, I'll try. Not anime but a manga: Homunculus. It goes a bit into fantasy with its core idea but remains grounded in reality for the most amount of time. It's a true page turner, beautifully drawn and made for adults.
If you want to know what themes are explored there, I'll spoiler tag them but still try to keep it vague: [sp]Some homeless guy is in need for money and makes a slightly dangerous operation on his head in exchange for money. From that point on he is able to see people for what they really are. Themes that are explored in the manga are depression, self-distortion and it goes a lot into the psychological route. It also goes a bit into horror with its imagery.[/sp]
It would make a great adult anime if somebody would finally adapt it...
Can someone recommend some superpowers anime? Hero Academia isn't scratching my itch.

How does new testament stack up to the original run?
Been thinking of nabbing them and powering through the sometime here.

well I feel that if you liked the original run you'll be fine with the new testament.
[editline]21st June 2017[/editline]
also the latest volume is finally about Aleister's plan and Touma's ability, so maybe it's closing into the end soon?
The s3 promo trailer however contains hella spoilers :v:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCpa4UgHlgA
Linked because thumbnail alone is a huge spoiler. Based on this though, we can expect the [sp]basement[/sp] reveal in the next season.
Alright I finally got the episode out of the way. I had a feeling the promo trailer was going to be featured in the episode but I'm relieved it didn't, but yeah it definitely does feel spoiler heavy, especially that picture and the one after it. When I first saw it on some article a couple days ago I got worried and was like, "WIT what are you doing?" but after some more thinking I think WIT is skirting around the relevations real well (well, except for [sp]basement[/sp]) but I feel like [sp]the ocean scene was a bigger spoiler than that[/sp] at first glance but it's still vague enough to leave something to the imagination.
It's not like people look at anime trailers much to begin with.. right? :v:....

a lot of people don't seem to like NT but I think it's still really good

Its not like they "intentionally" spoiled it.
They were just showing the volume covers of what's going to be covered
Might show my friend who hated S;G another show I love: NGE and see how that plays out haha. He'll probably like Rebuild once we watch it after EoE

did he hate s;g for the slow early pacing? because he'll definitely hate NGE for that same reason
Looks like the LWA show is going to be available on Netflix on June 30th.

Nah he just didn't like any of the characters, opening song or the story. I have no idea why and I'm still confused to this day hahahaha.
