I am cautiously optimistic. I still think Gadot's build is all wrong for Wonder Woman, but I thought her brief role in BvS was well done, anf the trailer for this looks pretty promising. Time will tell!
So, there's this open letter written by allegedly former Warner Bros employee to WB CEO, Kevin Tsujihara. A nice read that raises a few good points, but what's more important:
[...] I would not make this argument. And here's why: I wrote this letter last year. I actually started forming it in my head after Man of Steel was a box office failure instead of the modern classic tentpole you were expecting. I kept holding off on doing anything with it because of one title: Suicide Squad. Zack Snyder's Dawn of Justice was a fiasco, but here comes this plucky little dark adventure about antiheroes. I love David Ayer. I love Harley Quinn. I love Will Smith. Put the letter in a drawer. The ship isn't sinking anymore. Everything is fine. There's no way this movie is bad. And here we are. I got back from my screening and dusted this sucker off. You, your executive team, and the vision of your 'extraordinary storytellers' that resulted in the loss of around one thousand jobs seem intent on crashing the ship into as much shit as you can find in the ocean by making inane decisions over and over again. Zack Snyder is not delivering. Is he being punished? Assistants who were doing fantastic work certainly were. People in finance and in marketing and in IT. They had no say in a movie called Batman V Superman only having 8 minutes of Batman fighting Superman in it, that ends because their moms have the same name. Snyder is a producer on every DC movie. He is still directing Justice League. He is being rewarded with more opportunity to get more people laid off. I'm assuming you yourself haven't been financially affected in any real way. You and your studio are the biggest lesson about life one can learn: The top screws up and the bottom suffers. Peter Jackson phones it in and a marketing supervisor has to figure out a plan B for house payments. [...] What are you even doing? I wish to God you were forced to live out of a car until you made a #1 movie of the year. Maybe Wonder Woman wouldn't be such a mess. Don't try to hide behind the great trailer. People inside are already confirming it's another mess. It is almost impressive how you keep rewarding the same producers and executives for making the same mistakes, over and over.
Now, that's not really reassuring, but what's worse it stays in line with other insider rumours claiming that Wonder Woman has some serious pacing issues and fails to deliver consistent tone (as in the grittiness of WW1 clashes to much with comedic relief sidekicks)

I had no intention of seeing this after b v s but hell colour me interested
what the fuck
I have thing for strong women, so I'll definitely see it in theatre since reviews are positive. Hope this sparks more interest by Hollywood to make more lead female movies.

turning point of DC? Who is the director? On top of this they say that they didn't need to cut any scenes from this movie iirc. Excited to see this. Cool to see that it's getting good reviews so far
My inner pessimist thinks this has more to do with it being a superhero film with a female lead and reviewers are being generally positive to avoid backlash, regardless of the actual quality. Let's not forget, the Ghostbuster's remake is still sitting at a 73%, and by most accounts here, it was shit. That being said, I hope I'm wrong. At least this looks genuinely decent and a step in the right direction for DC, despite so many misteps

Back then even Supergirl didn't make any money because the movie was simply bad.

I think Wonder Woman is genuinely just a good movie

However, as stated elsewhere the test and advanced screening Cinemascores have also been universally high. Most of the people saw those for free, they have no reason to upsell something unless they're some kind of kind of politicized jackoff, and I sincerely doubt that was unilaterally the case. There's reason to be hopeful.
Just watched it, it's a very solid movie, 8/10. I think critics are being so generous because it is not trying to be super serious and dark. Jokes are good, movie is not preachy and it is not trying to shove anything down your throat. [sp]the biggest disappointment is main villain, Ares looks laughable with that moustache [/sp]
Are we talking about [sp]his human disguise or his god form[/sp]?
[sp]problem is that he doesn't change. In the beginning he is disguised as british politician with a moustache and in the final battle he only puts on armor. Silly british moustache remains, looks goofy as fuck[/sp]

[sp] barbarians wore mustaches, Ares is a barbaric god [/sp]
saw the movie tonight after being shocked by the RT score nice to see DC finally made something good that is part of the cinematic universe. it isnt super amazing or anything but its good and thats what DCCU really needs right now. also glad the first good DC movie is wonder woman, a character that never got a feature film till now.
I loved it. A little light on the mythology (I'm a Perez fan,) but I can see how the movie could be bogged down by it.
The final fight scene with Ares was underwhelming considering god of war vs immortal amazonian
[sp]I thought that the scene where she was going over the trenches into no mans land was the most powerful scene. It was just so well executed it gave me chills [/sp]
Patty Jenkins opinion on Wonder Woman after the events of the film AKA Fuck Snyder. Spoilers for Wondy Hope rides again
[sp]I agree about Ares, I feel like they should have changed his appearance from the mild-mannered British MP with an old man mustache. It wouldn't have even been out of place, considering things like supernatural shapeshifting exist, right? But instead they just *commit* to it, showing him with the mustache in the flashback and in the armor. Detracted from the seriousness of the fight a bit imo.[/sp] Film was definitely solid though, 8 or 8.5 out of 10.
the director will be back for wonder woman 2 http://screenrant.com/wonder-woman-2-patty-jenkins-director-setting/
I saw it last night and I will say that I enjoyed more so than a lot of the current DC Cinematic Universe films. It is enjoyable for what it is and has a lot more focus than other DC movies to date. Where movies like Suicide Squad and Batman v. Superman have various frustrating aspects and messy editing, Wonder Woman is an overall more solid film. I do feel like the higher praise for it are a little exaggerated, however. A few nitpicks and thoughts of mine: [sp]- Overall, I'm okay with Gal Gadot's casting as Diana; but there were moments where I felt she was too slender and acted too girly from what I would expect of Wonder Woman. It worked mostly for the scenes where she's trying to understand and fit in our world, but it sometimes became a little distracting during the action scenes. - Like Batman v. Superman before it, there were scenes that were very noticeably green screen and SFX that was made more apparent and distracting by my 3D glasses. - I really liked that they subverted expectations in making one think Ludendorff was Ares only to have a more unassuming character. However, I think Danny Huston would have made a better fit for Ares than David Thewlis (Although, Thewlis' voice as Ares was pretty good). - For some reason, I really liked Dr. Poison and wish there was more focus on her as the villain. I wanted to know more about her background and motivations. As well as just what her super drug for Ludendorff was (as maybe it could have related to meta-genes or something). - The No Man's Land scene was probably the best and most memorable scene in the film [/sp]
Honestly, I saw this last night and thought it was a 6/10 at best. It was a pretty standard origin story that doesn't do much to stand out from any other superhero movies. It's not as bad as DC's other stuff but I wouldn't say it's memorable or interesting either. Also the Captain America comparisons were so obvious at the finale that it was distracting to me: [sp]American soldier named Steve played by a man named Chris fights rogue German general and sacrifices himself after stealing a large plane with a superweapon on it[/sp] :v:. I'm being a little fussy in comparing it but still thought it was pretty funny.
