BP's a good movie :ok:
my only real complaint is that someone in the theater answered a call during the climax :ok: :ok: :ok:
Watched it today as well. It was alright. Me and my step dad set next to motherfucking TURKISH LITTLE SHITS. 14-15 year olds that commented EVERYTHING. Dragged down the movie a lot for me.
ALL OF MY HATE. I will never ever watch a movie in the afternoon again in cinema. Evening and night showings only now.
Just came back from watching BP. Am I the only one who thinks [sp]it felt a little lacking when it came to T'Challa/Nakia's relationship? It didn't feel like there was enough development in that part[/sp]
Aside from that and [sp]Klaue's death[/sp], it was perfect.
Also, I noticed during the credits [sp]one of the songs was called "Wololo"[/sp]
I liked Black Panther, but it's far from BEST MARVEL MOVIE like some "reviews" are saying. But it was a good movie.
Does it have the forced quips/humor or is it actually more serious in tone, like Winter Soldier?

There's a bit of humor in there, the kind you'd expect from a typical Marvel movie I guess. It was pretty serious for the most part though.

Basically nowadays every new Marvel-Disney movie is accompanied by critics claming that, "despite its flaws" (which are never discussed in detail), the given film is "the best Marvel-Disney movie yet" and therefore worthy of an 8 or a 9.
I've stopped believing such bandwagon after going to theatre and watching Thor: Ragnarok
i like how black panthers soundtrack is actually memorable (i dont mean like one or two songs, just like a ton of the music)
really loved the tons of drums and horns. then as [sp]killmonger took over[/sp] the electronic beats started playing more (you can see a example of this in the song burn it all)
BP is great but no way in hell is it 100% material in any context other than casting, and frankly some of the reviews sound like they gave the reviewer fifteen gallons of cocaine and ice cream before the screening.
thats just the amount of people that liked it not the score tho which doesnt seem so far fetched

The critical response is similar to what happened with Wonder Woman. Every bit of advertising made it out to be a "revolutionary" (or various buzzwords) film and blew it completely out of proportion. It maintains a reviewer's 92% percent on Rotten Tomatoes and 77% audience score (and people take RT as word of God, for some reason). I'm seeing it this Sunday (and I do want to see it because I trust Marvel to make a decent film), but this exponential reaction from media was absolutely predictable and political. Call it an unpopular opinion, but Black Panther automatically gets the typical high grades of a Marvel film, but "bonus points" because of its cast.
what advertising made BP up to be revolutionary? I've only seen people projecting that onto the film. The trailers and such are pretty standard.

I don't know if I can find the exact TV spot, but it was one I saw yesterday: As BP drops from an airship all the magazines and newspaper outlets are displayed floating through the air. Various quotes and one of them displayed over a scene of M'Baku in big letters "REVOLUTIONARY."

That's still critic quotes

The some of same critics that gave Winter Soldier lower scores. BP is again pretty great, especially for an initial foray; say comparing Thor or parts of Iron Man to contrast to, but it's not Winter Soldier territory.

I literally lol'd
ah yes, extremely analytical lines such ad "Dr Doom Toots As He Pleases
Black Panther was really, really good. Definitely on par with Ragnarok which has been one of my favorite Marvel movies, now. Predictable in some places but no crime, imo.
Costuming is beautiful. I was always excited to see what the characters had for casual and formal wear, out of battle.
[sp]Michael B. Jordan's villain has a simple motivation but he works it well, except for lines like, "and I'll kill everybody who supports you, and their children, too." He was pretty sympathetic up until then.[/sp]
My two main questions are: 1.[sp] The rest of the world sees Wakanda as a developing nation of tribes and farmers. How much of the population is actually living well underneath the protection of the King and their city, and how much is actually living in underdeveloped conditions, and why?[/sp] and 2.[sp]What on earth is W'Kabi gonna do now? Good fuckin luck getting Okoye to forgive you. Your assistance in rebelling definitely got like, at least one person killed...at least one.[/sp]
Saw it last night. Good movie. I wouldn't say it's the best Marvel movie, but it was a very good one. MBJ's villain was a respectable character with a solid reasoning for their actions.
[sp]I'm glad Klaue is dead. I didn't like him in this movie. It was like he was high the whole time, always giggling and shit.[/sp]

[Sp] To be fair I think mania would kick in for me as well after getting my arm cut off by a giant robot, getting a blaster replacement, discovering the equivalent of Atlantis and getting chased through South Korea by a cat man who can run on walls [/sp]
i find armond's review of black panther to be very enlightening and frankly, truthful. i disagree with him on some things but generally he is very eloquent and extremely correct in his reviews.
I thought people were trolling when they said this movie had a "what are those!?" joke
I think BP is up there with Ragnarok, and I thought Ragnarok was where Marvel has begun to find the sweet spot for their films. As far as Marvel movies go this is one of my favorites.

my complaint, which doesn't has anything to do with the movie itself, is that fucking everyone was eating popcorn
You know how I know that?
Because it was easier to hear the goddamn popcorn from any direction than it was to hear the movie.
Blade Runner 2049 all over again.
Other than that, fantastic movie. Cr1tikal talked about how the soundtrack was awesome, and he was damn right.

Cr1tikal was also on point. The action scenes have too many jump cuts that don't allow visibility all that well, and the people in the room watching the movie with you are awfully noisy aswell.

Thor Ragnarok is definitely one of their best tho.
Just came from the theater.
Black Panther is a really solid movie, and I like how it can be its own stand-alone within the MCU.
I feel as if each Marvel film attempts to be the greatest than all before it and as a result, many fail hard by trying too hard. BP doesn't try to make that attempt and ends up being a pretty damn good movie.
Killmonger was a pretty damn good villain, as well. He had a background and a purpose that some could relate to, which is a rare thing in Marvel villains. I definitely put him up there with Zemo.
