Based on what, exactly
You might wanna google the words "asia" and "china" cause there's several place sin the world where people give a fuck about marvel and don't give a fuck about whatever star wars is swiftly turning into, and it turns out they like going to the movies quite a bit.
I watched Ragnarok less than a day before going to Infinity War and I was not ready for the fucking massive tonal shift going from Thor's hopeful and relaxed demeanor to fucking everyone dying onboard his ship and the asgardian race getting fucked even harder. Obvious rewrites of Thanos' character aside from his earlier snarky appearances, I really liked how it was for all intents and purposes a Thanos film. Kind of makes me want to see a shorter film follow Thanos exclusively as a solo adventure, they really managed to establish him as more than a rampaging powerhouse.

I was really hoping little Gamora would turn into Lady Death at the very end there. Imagine him having that vision, only for his dead daughter to just morph into a big cloaked skeleton. Also, I think Thor is my favorite Avenger now, which is fucking crazy. He's gone from a complete jobber with exactly one joke ("I'M FROM SPACE WORLD, WHAT IS THIS "TWITTER" YOU MORTALS SPEAK OF??? IS IT ANYTHING LIKE *thing from Norse mythology/Western fantasy*???") to a legitimate king who's lost everything. He's gotten a HUGE power-boost and, while he's not quite the same as Thor from the comics, he's actually COMPELLING now in his own way. Like, I think my favorite scene in all of Infinity War is the bit where Rocket is helping him express his grief. And my second-favorite scene is the "BRING ME THANOS" bit; I've watched that scene like ten times since seeing it in the theater and it's never not one of the hypest moments in all of the MCU. I wanna record that entire segment where he tanks the power of a dying star so I can play it when I'm at the gym. There was so much fucking testosterone in that sequence I'm pretty sure I left the theater with some additional gains. Thor is now a better Superman than the DCEU's ACTUAL Superman.
It just now occurred to me that I think Thor didn't speak to any of the other Avengers the entire film. He just sort of popped into Wakanda during the battle
He has a brief quip with Cap but he's mostly focused on getting shit done, yeah
He was still mad they didn't invite him to Civil War.
He is to Civil War as Antman is to Infinity War "Where the fuck is he?"
Keep in mind: Thor himself said that Thanos slaughtered HALF of his people. My bet is Valkyrie, Korg, Sif, etc. made it out. In addition, Taika Waititi, Marvel, and Hemsworth have said they're interested in a fourth Thor and that they have plans for Korg and Miek.
I'm sure there's plenty of people all over the internet that saw this, but I got it from /tv/. https://i.imgur.com/HOgnCrX.jpg Tony's hand is a photoshopped USB stick.
I have a fairly strong feeling after this film a lot of the followups are going to be about setting up replacements for the dead ones. Besides Thanos, all of the times we got a "x will return" message it was specifically using the faction and/or super-hero name of each character, leading me to believe that they are going to give each main role a suitable replacement even as a temporary measure until Thanos' shit is undone. It's not like the concept is new to the MCU either.
I also feel like this movie did a really good job of accurately predicting audience expectations/reactions. Like, I don't think there's a line in the entire film that better sums up the scene it appears in than Banner's "AHAHAHA! YOU GUYS ARE SO SCREWED NOW!"
Yeah, the give and take was remarkably solid. We all expected Tony to get knifed. We didn't expect him to be the only one standing against Thanos in the end.
The broadcaster guy at the beginning confirms that Korg and Meek are dead. He says the alien crew died.
Nah, I don't think so.
I can imagine poor Miek just being stepped on again

although this may be because I watched IW in a dolby atmos theater the scene where tony and strange hear a loud noise and walk outside to see a flying donut over manhattan had fucking fantastic sound design, it was a mild disappointment that no other scene in the movie used sound like that
I was thinking how come nobody notices a giant space ship until it entered earth's atmosphere
The impact of that scene was weakened for me because someone in the theater asked "What's going on?" as soon as people started panicking and it took all of my willpower to not say, "Maybe if you'd wait five seconds you'd find out." Really excited to go see it in the theater again so I can get that scene's full effect.
I'm not really a fan of how Drax was treated in this movie, the same way he was treated in GOTG for the most part, which that he's the team funnyman who exists primarily as a walking punchline, saying whatever is funny at any given time. It's just really weird to see him go from a guy who was originally humourous because of his literal and straightforward personality become a complete clown who is so bizarre it almost makes me feel like he's trying to fuck with everybody the whole time.
Mind blown by the movie. Really. I had no expectations, actually wasn't looking forward to it that much, after Age of Ultron and a few lackluster and mediocre Marvel movies. But yesterday I sat down and watched Homecoming and Ragnarok for the first time in preparation, and loved them both which hyped be up. Still no real expectations though. but damn they knocked it out of the park in my opinion. For me, the villain can make or break a movie, and Thanos was fucking awesome. Most of what i can say has already been said, so I won't bother. Amazing movie. Best Avengers by far, WAY ahead of Age of Ultron.
I feel the same way.I thought most of his jokes were out of place and surprisingly out of character
I always took it as him trying to fit in and act like the others, but failing horrifically each time.
Just to chime in on some previous talk about Valkyrie in Infinity War, I read somewhere that a large, roughly 20 minute segment was cut from the start of Infinity War. The movie originally opened by actually showing Thanos attacking the refugee ship, and we apparently saw Valkyrie and half of the Asgardian population make it to escape pods before the theatrical cut starts.
Makes sense, since Thor mentioned a couple times that half his people were killed so you have to assume that some of them are still out there. Sucks that they cut it, but considering the movie is almost 3 hours long as it is, I get why. Plus I kind of liked the in media res opening.
The opening we got was very striking, so I'm not overly upset about the cut scenes. But at the same time, I am incredibly excited for the possibility of an extended edition. I would watch a 3 hours+ version of this, tbh.
Apparently Joe Russo confirmed that Valkyrie and a few Asgardians managed to survived by using a escape pod. The actress who plays her also said somewhere that Valkyrie is alive and probably was getting drunk while Infinity War happened.
Does Wanda have a different accent in every movie?
