Ive seen like 3 reviews that start off bitching about him not being asian
Was he Asian in the comics?
Was he Asian in the comics?
No.
[editline]8th March 2017[/editline]
He's been a white blondie since day one back in 1974.
Holy shit vibrant bright colors.

So why are they upset that he isn't asian?
So why are they upset that he isn't asian?
I'm going to go out on a whim and suggest it's because of the martial arts background and the ninja design of his costume. The thought of which, in of itself, is kind of subconsciously racist and/or stereotypical.

Too busy being outraged to read comic books.
So why are they upset that he isn't asian?
Because he knows martial arts and has an eastern inspired outfit / was raised / trained in an asian setting so he should be asian or else its cultural appropriation.
People who know nothing about the source material bitch and whine about an adaptation being racist. In other news, the water is wet.

Damn, the new Thor looks colorfull. I like it.
They've made me excited for a Thor movie. Good job
Is there a true-to-the-comics reason why Thor has short hair now? It suits him fine, just wondering why the change all of a sudden.

There is a new Thor comics called "The Unworthy Thor" he has short hair and doesn't have the Mjolnir.

Well, there ya go. Thanks for clearing that up!

I've also heard that Lewis Tan kicked up a fuss about not getting it (he has a different role but wanted Iron Fist) and has pushed some of the "not asian" narrative. Also heard he's been a dick to Finn on set.
But I'm not really sure if it's true, but a bunch of people were talking about it on /r/marvelstudios when it broke that Finn had deleted his twitter over the attacks.
Actually I just binged "Lewis Tan Iron Fist Asian" and there's a ton of articles of him complaining about how he tried so hard to be Iron Fist and how he deserved it because he does his owns stunts.
It's possible that these media outlets are exaggerating his thoughts to paint marvel racist for them clicks though.

Apparently there's been an invisible war of petitions and shit since 2014 to get iron fist cast as asian.
Thats all fucking stupid.
Stop changing races just to change them, please. And if you lose out on a role, dont be a cunt about it.

The part I dislike the most about this practice is that a fresh character would work so much better. Sometimes they've done this with Miles Morales, Amadeus Cho, Robbie Reyes etc., all great characters but then they're limited to "black spiderman" "asian hulk" "hispanic ghost rider" etc. when they're perfectly capable of being new identities altogether.
I mean with Cho he was the Iron Spider for a bit, which I thought was an interesting idea since it made sense that he'd be high-tech, and that I'd never seen Iron Spider not just be Peter in a new costume.
Plus Ghost Riders are almost like Green Lanterns now, even though some had their own names like Caretaker, and Rob's actually got his own thing with the car. Miles has a "venom blast" I guess, to separate him from Pete, but doesn't get his own name.
I'm perfectly fine with diversity but I'd rather they be all new people like Falcon, Black Panther, Spawn, Silk even. Also in a way that isn't how the writing is super unsubtle and draws attention to the diversity for no reason like a lot of today's Marvel Comics do.
Hell, remember when Marvel created an entire new human "race" (mutants) to tell their stories about prejudice, that was relatable to all skin colors because it wasn't color exclusive?
I miss all that creativity, and very real progress.
I think its funny that people argue that Iron Fist should be Asian because he knows martial arts when in reality he ends up in a magical city that just so happens to appear in china every 500 years and that they teach a fighting style there that may or may not be based on reality or imaginary.
Also depending on what origin story you go off of, His father may or may not have been BORN in this imaginary city who somehow ended up having white skin (BECAUSE THE CITY ISN'T ACTUALLY REAL AND THERE ARE PEOPLE OF ALL COLOURS IN IT, WOW WHOA!)(also if he were asian I personally believe the synergy between Iron Fist and Power Man would be ruined to a certain point.)
I will say that I do not at all appreciate the showrunner at all who is currently working on Iron Fist, and that I will be going into the show expecting to be incredibly disappointed, as Iron Fist is my favourite super hero besides Moon Knight
I'm kinda shocked they haven't revealed any images of Bruce or Hulk in the movie

Give it some time; modern marketing insists every single thing be shown off before the movie releases, negating any reason to actually see the movie :v:

isn't this Bruce?

these colors are looking really weird so far. wonder what these visuals will look like once it's all finished?
The logo looked like blood dragon so I'm not too surprised but the movie looks weirder everytime I see new stuff for it
Marvel is really in a bad spot comics wise. There's good stuff from recent years, but their major events are mediocre at best
I just realized something
[sp]In The Wolverine, Yukio says ""I see you on your back. There's blood everywhere. You're holding your own heart in your hand. It's not beating."
In Logan, Logan dies on his back, there's blood everywhere, and he's holding his heart in his hands both literally (hand pressing against the blood pouring from the wound in his heart area) and figuratively (holding Laura's hand and embracing her as his daughter).
[/sp]
I could be wrong but idk
Tonight's episode of Legion was :ok: :ok: :ok:

:excited:
I'm hyped as fuck.

They were directed by the same guy, so this could totally have been intended.
Holy shit.

Seems they're going hard on the Kirby/Simonson direction of Thor which I'm all for. I couldn't take another science fantasy film, I have to many shitty memories associated with it because of the first 2 films.
