"Teaser" my ass, that's a fucking logo with some talking over it.
But it teased you, didn't it?

Lest we forget
Teasers are meant to tease, get people excited about a movie, not reveal the plot. This did the job just fine. Hell, the teasers for The Empire Strikes Back and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade were nothing but concept art and behind the scenes footage respectively

I'm just gonna say it.

Black Bolt, you look like crap.
Of all the things to take from the comics, boobs being balloons in clothing shouldn't have made the transition

This new CW show looks great.

Actually we get a nice frame of reference thanks to Serinda Swan playing Medusa.

She played Zatanna in Smallville eight years ago.
GotG2
[sp] alright so I like this movie quite a bit, insanely great visuals cinematography wise and cgi/post wise
baby groot was played out in my opinion, milked that too hard - some of the humor is great as usual, some of it is almost too much... pulled me out of the movie a few times too many.
I liked the Yondu character arc as well as developments with all the characters.[/sp]
[sp]The creation of Adam ( Adam Warlock ) is going to be interesting because he ties into the Avengers as well, and is essentially "powered" by the Soul Gem. With the impending fight against Thanos drawing nearer I'm assuming he'll be a foe that'll turn to friend for the final ( lol ) brawl.[/sp]
[sp] Stallone, lol [/sp]
[sp]Trailer for Ragnarok was awesome, pretty sure that Hulk is gonna be based off of Planet Hulk? Does that mean Silver Surfer tie-in? Regardless the tone caught me off guard and I love it, can't wait for that.[/sp]
[sp]I don't think anyone is gonna be ready for all of the sarcastic assholes of the MCU in one movie whenever that happens[/sp]
[editline]5th May 2017[/editline]
Also GotG2:
[Sp]was the final dancing character (in the circles) during the credits Jeff Goldblums character from Thor Ragnarok? I only got a passing glance at him but I could've sworn that was him.
Also I really hope we see more of Stallone and his team, and that wasn't just a meaningless tease.[/sp]
[sp] Yes it was, Jeff Goldblum as Jeff Goldblum in a Marvel Universe [/sp]
[sp]The "shift" that happens to him is weird, I agree with AbbaDee. I really liked the idea of him being "alone" in the universe, and him wanting to "change it" - but killing every single one of your disappointing kids and the woman you loved seems a bit overboard - how the hell does it fit into your "worldview"? The fact that he killed Star Lord's mom seems extremely convenient, considering that for some part of the movie at felt like Quill would go over to his side.
Again, I can see how being "alone" and a god would lead to the thought that transforming everything in the galaxy into, well, yourself - but being unnecessarily cruel on the way doesn't fit.
[/sp]
[sp]I think ultimately he is "cruel" because his character is meant to have that hard contrast to Starlord - hence the whole "heart" narrative bit. He's cold because he has the motive of complete consumption and control over the universe, and his separation from Starlord in this way is pretty crucial [/sp]
[sp] Yondu telling Starlord about how he guides his arrow is another big foil to the coldness of Ego - the sort of lesson being that even tho Ego was Starlords biological father, Yondu ended up being a real father to him - especially towards the mid/late end of the movie. [/sp]
someone took Medusa out of the picture

It looks a lot better but still.. that showrunner
we'll also be getting a new look at spider-man at the MTV awards this sunday.
And the guy that plays Drax believes that disney will reacquire the rights to spider-man

[sp]RIP Mary Poppins :([/sp]
So Marvel and Fox share custody for The Watchers.

Please let this be so, and please let it happen before Sony makes their Venom & Friends cinematic universe a real thing.
Watched GotG 2 yesterday
[sp]10/10 movie, surpasses the first one
rip Yondu, the true dad here :'([/sp]
Mantis is so cute
cutest ever
Not to shill my blog here, but I did a little write-up on my thoughts for Guardians 2 (spoilers in the latter half, it's clearly marked though and everything beforehand is totally safe): http://whiteguywithnetflix.blogspot.com/2017/05/review-guardians-of-galaxy-vol-2.html
Overall [sp]I think it's more or less on-par with the first one, though it feels like it's trying a bit too hard at times with the humor. Ego was a fucking 11/10 twist-villain though, that bit where he mentions putting the tumor in Peter's mother's head sucked the air right out of the room. I'm also amazed at how much they focused on Yondu and made him feel like a real character with layers of depth and emotion. I also loved the number of times it dawned on me just how weird they were willing to get, what with the Watchers talking to Stan Lee and Groot attaching a nuke to a giant space-brain and Kurt Russell turning into a skeleton/David Hasselhoff and everything. It really felt like an obscure, out-there Marvel comic that wasn't afraid to get really bizarre, which I think is a good sign for the future of the MCU.[/sp]
Oh, and I didn't hate Baby Groot, Gunn was totally telling the truth when he said that he was in there for thematic purposes, rather than to just sell toys.
A respectable movie and a necessary sequel, wouldn't surprise me if it ends up being the highlight of the MCU in 2017 (though I think the only thing that would really have a chance of topping it is Ragnarok, Homecoming seems fun but super by-the-numbers).
Its amazing how little they showed in the trailers (at least the ones I saw. It is possible I may have missed some)
Its amazing how little they showed in the trailers (at least the ones I saw. It is possible I may have missed some)
I recall James Gunn saying that he forced the people cutting together the trailers to only use footage from the first 20 minutes; anything beyond that had to be presented with absolutely no context to it.
It's why I was so surprised that the [sp]tape[/sp] scene actually happens in like the last 20 minutes of the movie. As bad as the Homecoming trailers were with spoiling the entire movie, I feel like GotG and Ragnarok are learning that people respond well to not knowing anything beyond a basic premise when walking into the theater. It's one of the main things that made the new Star Wars movies so exciting.
It took until like halfway through the movie to realize where the plot was going. I had a completely different interpretation of what it was going to be about
That bit made no sense given she might be the cutest in the MCU
Not even into Asians and I feel that way
[sp]i was referencing drax[/sp]
I know, I was saying i disagree with "that bit"

[sp]When his arrow snapped I knew it was coming, but man that still was a tear jerker. That's pretty damn good to make you care that much about a side character in one movie.[/sp]
hideous
[sp]I kinda had a bad feeling about the direct reference to death during the first Stallone scene, where he said to Yondu he'd die honorless and as a disgrace or something along those lines.[/sp]
It utterly blew my mind that [sp]The original guardians were in the movie. I got to see fucking Martinex T'Naga on the big screen. Just WOW what a time to be alive[/sp]
[editline]8th May 2017[/editline]
But why the christ was [sp]Stallone cast as Starhawk. Thats a very odd choice.[/sp]
Because why not? [sp]Michelle Yeoh was Starhawk as well[/sp]
Mantis is so cute
Yeah, still an odd choice.
But I actually kind of dig it. for both of em. That whole team taking a grittier direction sounds so fun
[sp]Ravager guardians movie when[/sp]
got back from gotg2 and jesus christ why are there [sp]5 god damn mid-credits and post-credits scenes.[/sp]
[sp]I keep imagining Owen Wilson as Adam Warlock. Wow.[/sp]

[sp] I still can't decide how I'd want them to do it, as a flashback and fitting in the year 3000 stuff with either de-aging tech/young recast or a modern day film with flashbacks [/sp]

[sp]Black Panther launches Captain America into space because there's no way he can hide on Earth anymore, and in Avengers 3 he returns with the other Guardians as Major Victory[/sp]
