Don't challenge Billy Elliot to a dance-off.
What's with the version of Surrender that made it into the movie and onto the soundtrack? It's weirdly mixed and not as well mastered as the one I have from a different album, despite being the same version of the song
I knew nothing about the GOTG comic books before the first movie (Hell I didn't even know the comics series existed, not a comic guy) so all that Ravager stuff is cool.
Looks like Rocket Raccoon has 'hacked' a Disneyland ad:

This is a really dumb question but Dr. Strange uses magic in the movie right?

Yep, a metric fuck tonne of the stuff.

Alright thanks I know it's magic but I have a few friends telling me it's not magic but science thanks to that matpat guy on youtube
There's really no distinction in Marvel Land tbh
Look at it this way; Thor is "science that may as well be magic". They have teleportation devices and laser cannons, but it's all wrapped up in an ancient Norse package.
Doctor Strange is legit magic explored in a scientific way; it's all about opening your third eye and hopping across dimensions and seeing that which is unseen and whatnot, but basically anyone can learn to do it if they study hard enough.

Advice for your friend to seek someone who doesnt publish scientific journals straight out of their ass.
Spoilers for GotG Vol 2, but James Gunn is a fucking genius with the soundtrack this time around:
[sp]-Surrender is a song about children learning to accept their parents, even if they don't 100% get them
-Mr. Blue Sky foreshadows Yondu's death in the first ten minutes of the movie (Mister blue, you did it right/but soon comes mister night creepin' over/now his hand is on your shoulder/never mind I'll remember you this/I'll remember you this way)
-Come a Little Bit Closer, which plays during Yondu's big action scene, is about a man who becomes reluctantly attached to someone who doesn't "belong" to them
-Southern Nights conjures images of stars, whistling, and trees
-The recurrent lyric of My Sweet Lord is "I really wanna see/know/be with you", the song plays as Quill and co. are arriving on Ego's planet
-Flash Light is about feeling alone, losing hope, and looking to the stars for answers, only to realize that those around you are a "flashlight" who help you see what's really important
-The Chain and Brandy are fairly obvious, if not outright explained in the context of the movie[/sp]
The more I listen to the soundtrack, the more I fall in love with this movie.
The idea that [sp]Yondu="Mr. Blue"[/sp] blew my fucking mind.
I liked the little stab at product placement in Guardians Vol.2 [sp]when they pull a Zune out of a literal pile of trash[/sp]

While they have actual product placement in the movie.

i mean, they had a shot where [sp]a dairy queen sign and restaurant was right in your face.[/sp]
i mean, they had a shot where [sp]a dairy queen sign and restaurant was right in your face.[/sp]
Yeah, there really was no need for that [sp]it had nothing to do with the shot, they parked at a DQ just to go into the forest behind it?[/sp]

[sp]It's a setup for when you see it again at the end[/sp]
Probably my biggest complaint about Guardians Vol. 2 is that while every character gets copious amounts of character development, Drax goes the other way and regresses into a walking potty humor dispenser.
Like seriously 90% of his lines are about penises, poop and sex.

ye but then he shines with his little scenes with Mantis

I read that Gunn included that specifically because it captured a specific time period for him, back when it was [sp]Dairy Queen and not "DQ"[/sp]. Now that I think of it, I wouldn't be surprised if the sign changed its design between the prologue and the climax.

It does change, although I can't remember if it changes to just DQ or to a different chain entirely.

It's Dairy Queen both times, it just changes to match the time period
Fox announced today that they’ve picked The Gifted up for series. The show will take an action-adventure format. The network also finally gave names to all of the main cast, including the reveal that Blair Redford will not be playing a character named Sam — as reported by Entertainment Weekly months ago. Instead, Redford will be playing X-Men member John Proudstar of the Apache, better known as Thunderbird. The other notable item is just how many members of the Strucker clan are in this show. For those not in the know, Baron Wolfgang von Strucker is one of the original leaders of Hydra and a member of the Nazi party. Basically a bad news dude.
Uh, okay?

Wait a minute.
Members of explicitly Baron Von Struckers family, on a Fox show starring an X-Men character, and its labeled as "Marvel's" (Something reserved exclusively for MCU TV shows and Movies and whatnot so far).
What the fuck is happening right now.
Imagine being a discount Chloe Grace Moretz

Does that or does that not include the disgusted Valet?
There is a GOTG2 themed Blizzard at DQ, that is why I thought it was Product placement.
It was probably a happy coincidence, like with the [sp]Zune[/sp]. I'm willing to bet it was in the script before the PR team came along and said "hey, [sp]Microsoft and DQ want in on the promotion for this one[/sp]", rather than "okay, we're partnering with [sp]Microsoft and DQ, make sure your feature them or their products somewhere in the movie[/sp]".
