I wonder if Betty will be set up to be his high school crush in the next film
Someone on /co/ came up with a really fun idea for the sequel, where Peter overhears Aunt May telling someone that she's [sp]set him up with a very nice girl named "MJ". So the whole movie has Peter awkwardly stalking Michelle, trying to find out if she has any plans or has been speaking to his aunt. And then right at the end, Peter decides to tell May that he knows about the date and that he doesn't think Michelle is his type. May responds with something like "Michelle? Who's Michelle? No, I set you up with Anna Watson's niece! Very nice girl, she'll be transferring into your school in the fall! Name's Mary Jane, here she comes now!"
Cue "face it Tiger", cut to credits.[/sp]
That works as a subplot and redeems that awful line I guess yeah
Deadpool 2 is introducing the time traveler Cable.
Btw if you ever want to experience an aneurysm, look up the Summers family tree and try to make sense of it, you can thank Cable for a good chunk of that.
[editline]9th July 2017[/editline]
Plus, Logan is like a continuity time bomb anyway.
When the time period rolls around again in the films it'll be ignored so either time travel stops it from happening or its not acknowledged and everything breaks again.
tbh I one day hope to see some Summers fuckery on the big screen just because
like, have a bunch of greys, summers, and grey-summers in one movie just to confuse newcomers :vs:
Honestly kinda wish [sp]the first guy didn't die, he had the perfect personality for Shocker, the second guy was too serious.[/sp]
Yeah it shoulda been backwards as much as [sp]I like Bokeem Woodbine[/sp] but that scene was great because [sp]it seemed like this intensely evil and merciless act and then it turned out it was a total mistake.[/sp]

Feige and Pascal on Zendaya's character
[sp]Feige: Well, we never even looked at it as a big reveal necessarily but more of just a fun homage to his past adventures and his past love. She's not Mary Jane Watson. She never was Mary Jane Watson. She was always this new high school character, Michelle, who we know there's an "M" in Michelle and an "M" in Mary. [laughs] So we're so clever and we thought, "Wouldn't it be neat if her initials were MJ?" And then I think it leaked that she would be playing MJ and then it became a whole headache for Zendaya to have to navigate. It was never a big, "Oh my God, it's a big reveal!" There are big reveals in the movie. That's not one of them.
Pascal: She is not going to end as being Mary Jane Watson.
Feige: She's not Mary-Jane Watson. Is she going to date Peter? Are they going to fall in love? She seems to be intrigued with him. There's a nice chemistry there. Who knows what will happen in the future films?[/sp]
TL/DR:[sp]Let's watch a load of nerds on the internet have a shitfit about this[/sp]
I bet it was Pascal's idea
I bet it was Pascal's idea
Honestly, given that her only film and television credits are Disney related, I wouldn't be surprised if there's someone in Disney who wants her to be mainstream. But I wouldn't put it passed it being Pascal's idea either.

[sp]Didn't they have like 5 minutes of screentime?[/sp]

When the does the Iron First take place? After Daredevil season 2 and Luke Cage?

All the Netflix shows take place in linear order iirc.
[editline]10th July 2017[/editline]
I think part of Luke Cage happens during Daredevil Season 2 though.

Yeah I thought so but [SP] I thought DD took out Madam Gao in S2? She's in Iron Fist a lot. I could be wrong but I remember something like that. [/SP]

me too
I'm suddenly looking forward to seeing Squirrel Girl in live action.
Weird.
What a terrible casting choice, why would they ever hire an actress with even a moderately symmetrical face to play Squirrel Girl? Hopefully they can touch her up in post to CGI out her irises and really make that upper lip POP! Applying a heaping helping of liquid cement to her face would really bring Erica Henderson's artwork to life IMO.

Homecoming was great, probably the best marvel movie ive seen in ages, and it abso-fucking-lutely reignited my childhood love for Spider-Man that the Garfield films failed to capture for me. I feel like Marvels really listening to criticsms nowadays, the color pallette was bright, the score was memorable, and the villian is the best MCU Villian ever.
I also really loved the [sp]Marvel theme being replaced by the old Spider-Man theme, I thought that was a really fun touch that made me giddy for the movie[/sp]
Did anybody else really love the highly stylized immediate credits with Blitzkrieg Bop blasting to really cool art.
I really liked that.

-Zendaya can't act to save her life, really don't get why they cast her
Agreed on the credits, I've always felt that high-energy shit like the Ramones is the perfect soundtrack for Spider-Man.
As for Zendaya, literally the only reason she was there was because stunt casting/Disney Channel synergy. Her character was 100% pointless and her jokes weren't funny (though I admit I chuckled at [sp]her drawing of Hannibal[/sp]).

I just absolutely loved the angst she gave off, like [sp] seeing Peter at homecoming and giving him the middle finger[/sp]Also I seriously love the chemistry between her and everyone.
I think she pulled the character off great and it was probably hard not to come off as a cringey teenager. Also her character kind of reminds me of Paige from "4 kids walk into a bank" which probably swayed my opinion. If you haven't read that, here's a sample:

I just don't see Michelle and Peter having the same relationship as MJ and Peter in the comics.
Michelle just seems like she could be a really close friend like Ned
that being said, Peter didn't actually meet Mary Jane till college/after high school in the comics right?
I organized my thoughts on Homecoming into a blog post: http://whiteguywithnetflix.blogspot.com/2017/07/review-spider-man-homecoming.html
I really liked it, but the biggest issue I had was [sp]how it sacrificed a lot of the heart that comes with the Spider-Man character. I know Uncle Ben's been done to death (no pun intended), but we get a vague mention of him at most, and we never really get to feel any challenging emotions (especially when it comes to Peter's interactions with Aunt May). Like, both Guardians films have really beautiful little bits near the end where they just gut-punch you and you realize how much you care about these characters (Quill opening Awesome Mix Vol. 2 and Yondu's funeral), but there's nothing nearly that emotionally strong in Homecoming, which is a shame considering it's really not hard to get people to feel some strong emotions over Spider-Man of all characters.[/sp]
It's kinda a nitpick, since the "coming of age comedy" tone works so well here, but I'd have liked them to at least touch on Peter's feelings of guilt and responsibility rather than just focusing on "I gotta impress Mr. Stark" (even if it was in service of a larger overall character arc).
Fingers crossed for some Infinity War footage this weekend.
If only because I honestly can barely conceive how they're gonna fit that many characters in the same movie, especially if they decide to go all in and do the "literally everyone fights Thanos at the same time" thing.

I got really confused for a moment and wondered why the Bill Murray Garfield movie was relevant at all.
Is there any news whatsoever on a Antman II movie?
